112th_Rossi Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 'the recent scenery area' ... does not compute. Please define.
Anatoli-Kagari9 Posted May 17, 2013 Author Posted May 17, 2013 Sorry, the area encompassed by DCS World 1.2.4 (much of Georgia I believe) Flight Simulation is the Virtual Materialization of a Dream...

Cookie Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 (much of Georgia I believe) Actually it covers parts of Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan (sp?), Russia and a tiny little bit of Ukraine as well. - Two miles of road lead nowhere, two miles of runway lead everywhere - Click here for system specs

ericoh Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I beleive it is 330,000 sq. km 330.000,00 km² or 300,00 km²? I am confused here.

Speed Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 If that 330 Mm^2 area is for all areas with terrain height variation, it is important to remember that not all of that area is populated with objects. There are some REALLY cool areas down in Turkey that are, unfortunately, not populated with objects. The best use for these areas that I've found is to play at night, and pretend it's desert terrain on some Middle Eastern theater. Hamblue Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Has anyone here ever tried to fly beyond the map? What happens if you do? Cookie Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 (edited) Nothing happens except for the terrain becoming flat and featureless. You can try it easily, just start at Tbilisi and go on an eastbound heading. You´ll reach the end of the map within just a few minutes. Oznerol256 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 I have a question: What happens if one reaches the borders of the world? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Weta43 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 As far as I can see - Nothing - you just head off into the distance. I opened a mission file once & set a plane to spawn well North of the visible map - all there was was flat uniform land. Cheers.

Cookie Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Anyone know how large the Nevada terrain is/was? IIRC it was supposed to cover the Nellis AFB/Las Vegas area of course (including Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam) and go up all the way north to Groom Lake. Also I believe Reno was to be included as well (my memory is really hazy here though, might be very wrong), so that would pretty much cover around two thirds of the state of Nevada. Who knows what the current situation is though since they started over from scratch. Maybe it´s just Nellis AFB itself plus Las Vegas, maybe it´s everything from San Francisco to Denver. ;) It's that 'ho-hum' avatar of yours! ;) If it helps, I eat the first piece of bread and occasionally use MSIE. :D Hey, don´t be dissin´ that avatar of mine, it´s my lucky charm! :D It´s proudly displayed on the back of my helmet and has accompanied me through a number of hairy situations. Also it survived a number of superiors already who all wanted to see it gone from my helmet. Naw, that baby is here to stay! :devil_2: As for the first piece of bread, I eat it too, but using MSIE? Come on man, there are limits to everything! - Two miles of road lead nowhere, two miles of runway lead everywhere - Click here for system specs

winchesterdelta1 Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I dunno. But if you head directly south to the end of the map with the carrier something strange happens Ok now you made me curious... What kind of wonders can you find at the end of the map ;) Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.
