Had a AGM-65H explode mid-air after about 100 yards. See 6th missile shot in attached track, also see what happened to tank that thought he'd escaped.:D

Also, why do supposedly inferior earlier AGM-65Ds seem to have better locking range than Hs?

If I'm not mistaken the Ds have IR seekers and the Hs have TV seekers. It's probably easier to find a well-defined IR shape to lock on to than it is a visual shape against a background of other visual shapes.

Not sure why it explodes, but what Nealius said. And to add to it, the H and K versions can be used in force correlate mode. It allows you to launch at maximum range, but it doesn't track targets.

Here is a video on how to do it:

Edit: Okay and I actually took a look at the track. It seems like you were too far past your target and the mav couldn't make the turn, as you can see in the following 3 screenshots. The black dot on the ramp is your target and you can see that you're already past your target when you launch, but because of the steep dive the seeker was able to get a lock and not hit it's gimbal limits.. I'm not sure if they are supposed to blow up or go ballistic when that happens though.

Funnily enough, this strange phenomenon has effected me as of the last 2/3 updates ago.

AGM 65D's and G's, normal firing parameters, the missiles just explode in mid air as quoted above. I can accept 1 or 2 failures, but 6 out of 6 ? I never used to have a problem with this.

My online comrades have also experienced this strange behaviour.

Has there been any changes in Maverick deployment since the last updates?

Weird stuff.

Are you just in a turkey shoot mission or is there a chance there's a Tunguska or TOR around?

If so, they're likely being shot out of the sky by SAMs.

(Though in that photo caption that seems to happen a bit too quickly for it to be a SAM...)

Otherwise I have no idea.

One possibility is that whatever mission you're using hasn't been "updated" to the most current version. They need to be renamed and saved in the mission editor of the computer serving for it to be reliable.

The old "open and re-save" saviour.....will give it a go.

Thanks.
