(not sure what sub-forum to place this, so please, moderator, do your magic)

A buddy passed this on to me recently. I did a search and here is a Snopes investigation report:

Good thing ejection seats are self-contained systems.

I worked on creating parts for one of the fighters in the 1980's. We never did complete assemblies, just pieces of them. Maybe to spread the wealth around giving other shops work and/or less likely problems with "spies" and espionage. We sub-contracted to Bendix, that subcontracted to the Air Force. It is hard for me to believe, if a sub-contractor was doing work for Bendix, off-spec parts missed their very stringent QT company man. Just 3 parts on a production run out of spec could lose a job account and any future Air Force contracts.

Somewhere there is a crew chief picking a screw off the hangar floor going, "I wonder what this belongs to."

This accident was due to a manufacturers defect within the main longeron. I think about 12 other jets were found to have that same defect through NDI.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

Plus the F-15 is pretty rugged:

I have seen this video before, a few years ago, back when The History Channel still had good programing to offer.

I have seen some crazy Radio Control experimental concepts that flat out should not fly, but put a big enough motor on it, and fly it fast, they flew.
