71st_Mastiff Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I used to be able to control the outer fuel tank drops separately from the center tank, now they all drop.:joystick: "any failure you meet, is never a defeat; merely a set up for a greater come back", W Forbes. blkspade Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I used to be able to control the outer fuel tank drops separately from the center tank, now they all drop.:joystick: You need to use weapon jettison to do that. http://104thphoenix.com/
71st_Mastiff Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 well that defeats the purpose of me getting rid of my empty tanks, and keeping my weapons.. blkspade Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 You have clearly missed the point without even trying what I have suggested. The tank jettison command will and always has dropped all tanks. The weapon jettison command starts with tanks and works it way to weapons the more times you hit it. It will do the outer tanks first. In either case its almost pointless to carry 3 tanks with the intention of dropping 2 because of how broken the fuel flow logic is. http://104thphoenix.com/
Ryback Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 (edited) well that defeats the purpose of me getting rid of my empty tanks, and keeping my weapons.. Jettisoning is risky.. Don't do it :megalol: Edited June 7, 2013 by Ryback
71st_Mastiff Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 Jettisoning is risky.. Don't do it :megalol: I certainly will not now! :joystick: "any failure you meet, is never a defeat; merely a set up for a greater come back", W Forbes. blkspade Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Jettisoning is risky.. Don't do it :megalol: LOL. I think a couple of those were launch failures. Either way a non-existent issue in FC3. You can take your own wing off with an AGM-65 in the A-10C though. http://104thphoenix.com/
Shein Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Yeah I was going to ask, is there a way to change the way fuel flows? it appears that it takes fuel from the internal tanks before the externals, completely defeating the point of external tanks to begin with. Also, is there some way to find out how much fuel is in the center drop tank?

Also, is there some way to find out how much fuel is in the center drop tank? Well no, it does take fuel from the externals first. The problem is that the externals function as a single tank, so any fuel drawn from them comes out of all of them at the same time. The wing tanks are actually supposed to deplete first. Internal fuel of the F-15 is 13,455LBS, each fuel tank should be ~4,020LBS each. Knowing when they're empty would be a matter of doing some math in your head, but you know the externals are empty when either the total is below 13,400, or internal wing numbers start dropping below 6,700. http://104thphoenix.com/
blkspade Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 My point being that full internal fuel and a center tank would be 17,475lbs of fuel. So that would be the number to assume the wing tanks are empty, but dropping them results in lower than you should have. http://104thphoenix.com/

That helps a lot more than the flight manual did.. thanks!
strikeeagle Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 F15 wing tanks transfer directly into the wings when the WOW switch is deenergized. IIRC, the center tank transfers up to the feed tanks. Tank 2 I believe. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Chris
strikeeagle Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Correction...external tanks can only transfer when the internal tanks start to deplete as I explained above and when the gear handle is up. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Chris
