Are there any new AFM for existing planes when Black Shark is released?

No.

Ka50, Su25T, Su25 only.

The next development is *allegedly* supposed to bring that level of flight model and avionics fidelity to the A10 and a newly introduced Apache.

Allegedly. It's an important word.

Tank Killers?

yea tank killers is after black shark. And after that is ED's F-16 game. So it will be a while when we actually see AFM on fast movers like the flanker and migs. I heard ED's F-16 game will probably consist of the Mig-29 SMT. So we'll see....

this shiat gonna be lubbly, tbh, although am not a fan of the f16, i would like to get a chance to use air to ground radar at some point in a game from ED.

the mfd's are gonna look cool if they stick with the "if its on the real AC then its in ours" philosophy

Are these addons all going to use the current sim engine?? The Apache is a two seater :|

Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!great point!!!!!!!If E.D.COULD model the 2 seater that could open all kinds of possibilitys!F-15,F-14,F/A-I8E,F-16D ofcourse a ground radar would be nice.:D

the 2 seater idea is pretty hard to add, we will just have to wait and see what happens. And no, after the black shark addon, which will require the original lock on (probably FC too...maybe not) that ends the lock on series. Then a new game will rise called tank killers and later another new one with the ED's F-16.

O.K. Thanks for the info,I'm getting WAAAAAAYYYYYY ahead of myself.......I'm still trying to land the SU-25T with all tires still inflated!!!!

AFM for weapons is planned for BS I am led to believe

Chizh said (in RU forum) they don`t have time to do it on the BS release :( (apparently)

Funny when you are on the parking area, select gear up (SU25T)

But i still like to have AFM for the good old SU27 (thats my bird)

Yes and no.

Some experimental dual-control code was written, but was junked completely when Flaming Cliffs came in with no LAN code.

So dual-control is possible, and if they want to then ED can do it again.

However - you need a dual-control aircraft to do so. Any two-seat aircraft you care to name, you can see problems with modelling it . . . . . be it classified avionics, necessity of ground radar, lack of market appeal, lack of funding . . . .

It's just possible we may see an Apache, but I wouldn't wait for it.

The lack of WAFM would be a drawback - everyone form an orderly queue to say they'd be happy to wait while ED sorted it properly for Black Shark? ;)

Wondering if ED are working to a specific, definite deadline for Black Shark?

They've given a widely-publicised release date, which doesn't tie in with previous policies about announcing release dates.

"Ending the Lock On series" is something you need to be wary of, too.

Technically, Flanker 2.5 was the last in the series of the Flanker games - however, Lomac was developed directly (though the interim, never-released Flanker Attack project) from Flanker 2.

Tank Killers will almost certainly be largely based on Lomac's code, just with lots of additions and a different name.

The F16 sim is the first in the series which may actually be written from scratch - everything else WILL be a development.

That would be a GREAT shame .... it really needs improving! The current range disparity between low and high shots is not modelled well - IMHO.

I really hope we get an AFM 15/27/29 someday ... the 16 is ok but it has been done to death! I think I'd rather have a 15 and a 111/Mirage AFM. Ho hum!

Dual seater heli would be fantastic! First thing i noticed that in battlefield 2, where you can have gunner sit in front of you and blast the sh#t out of tanks and apc`s.. It`s good feeling, when you really can work as a team with another player sitting on same vehicle and using that cannon to toggle around and doing hes job, while you can move the vehicle to desired positions on the field. Im not talking about 2 sticks on the plane, or other hard to do code work, but just 2 men aircrew for heli`s/planes.

Also flying with 7 dudes on the huey and all firing down at troops below in battlefield.. its nice

Bad to hear about he WAFM.

But what would have been the WAFM been exactly about anyway ? What would have been the specific gameplay impacts of WAFM ? Would it only have included physics of the weapon body or also subsystem modeling of each weapon ( together with random failures ) or a better modeling of warhead effects ( particlary important on A-G ordenance ) ?

Because if WAFM biggest impact on gameplay would have been a change in the range of the BVR missiles, I wont miss it at all.

The biggest difference would probably be about the acceleration phase and potential energy modeling (read: gravity) for missiles. Both is rather simplified currently in Lock On, so I'd expect missile range of planes flying high and fast would increase, while those of low and slow flying planes would decrease. Certainly a welcome improvement in my book.

There are however lots of aspects to the whole weapons modeling area, and I guess it's safe to say that some but not all of the improvements that ED plans will already make it into 1.2 :)

Oh come on ED!You can't just sell a heli with an add-on.Alot of people bought FC not only because of 25T,but because of revision of Russian and Western radar systems.

I'm for waiting 5+ months only for realistic weapon modelling.

Is this confirmed (by someone who knows) that the WAFM is being dropped for 1.2? Personally, I'd rather see 1.2 delayed a couple of months and have it ... looks like A2A is getting second place in LO - again.

Nope, the cancellation is not confirmed officially from my perspective. Cutting such features is always a possibility of course.

All things considered the WAFM would be a welcome improvement....

But personaly I really think that the AI needs more attention...

Does anyone know if this has been or will be addressed in the near future????

As far as ATA, we know that this was going to take a back seat at least 1 1/2 to 2 yrs ago, so this is no suprise.....

AI on the other hand has applications in all aspects of this great simulator and really should be improved, right Caretaker (LOL) ...

Well I guess the list of improvements is long ... and the dev budget finite. However it depends if you fly mostly on-line or against the AI. While I would love to see a smarter AI or even just a more flexible mission editor with scripts, triggers or even just a variety of start points available by probablity, the WAFM would be a boost to all A2A players on or off-line. And despite all the improvements in radar models etc, if the missile don't fly right ... you can't use RL tactics, they jus tdon;t work in the game.

On the official feature list of 1.2 it says they are developing new AI for attack helicopter operations. If the AI in general is given a overhault I don't know, but I guess the new helo AI alone will require considerable development resources. I hope we will soon learn more from ED about what 1.2 will be about except the Ka-50. I have the impression that many want 1.2 for the general imrpovements of the sim, with the Ka-50 being just the iceing on top of the cake.

Regarding the WAFM. I somehow have the impression that WAFM is a bit overhyped. From my uneducated point of view missles fly just fine in that sim and I guess many wont notice much of a difference in the end ( except those few experts we have on the forum ). Other than some changes in missle ranges in certain situations, I fail to see the big impact on gameplay the WAFM is going to have. But perhaps ( most likely ) I am wrong on this one.
