Solo86 Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Hi I'm running DCS World and DCS A10. It has been working ok until I tried it today. Now it crashes every time. Sooooo frustrating. I have been tweaking graphics settings but in FSX. I've checked DX and C++ redistributables and they are up to date. ED Team NineLine Posted August 13, 2013 ED Team Posted August 13, 2013 Can you give me an idea what you were doing at the time of the crash? Is it always the same action that causes it, is there any programs you can disable to make sure there isnt a conflict? Is this the Steam release or standard? Solo86 Posted August 13, 2013 Author Posted August 13, 2013 Sith Thanks for the reply. I downloaded DCS world at the same time as I purchased A10. I downloaded it from the DCS site. The crash happens at various times. From initial startup to lauching any sort of mission. It is currently failing constantly at startup. I am using TrackIR 5. I will have a try tonight starting DCS World with TrachIR5 enabled (however the whole point of buying this simulation was to use with TrachIR5). I had hoped that the Crash Log would point to the problem. Is there no clue in there? Thanks
ED Team NineLine Posted August 13, 2013 ED Team Posted August 13, 2013 Can you look at your memory usage while you are playing, its possible this is an issue linked to a memory leak, but we havent be able to confirm it yet. Thanks. How do I do that? Also currently the simulation is crashing on startup. Would there be time to look at the memory usage?
ED Team NineLine Posted August 13, 2013 ED Team Posted August 13, 2013 You can use the resource monitor in win7 to observe it: http://www.pcworld.com/article/241677/how_to_use_resource_monitor.html Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
Flagrum Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I'd say "DXEffect@Graphics" points to a problem with the graphics. As you said, you tweaked your graphics for FSX ... was that just in game (of FSX) or did you change settings within the control panel of the graphics card? If the latter, perhaps you changed some global settings that now affect DCS?
159th_Falcon Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I have notice our (159th) server crashing whit the same error. Or at least the crash file always points to the same two files at the last 2 lines. Will it be of any help if i post these logs? Solo86 Posted August 13, 2013 Author Posted August 13, 2013 Thanks to everyone for your help. I'll try the resource monitor and monitor the memory. I did some changes using the nVidea utility that comes with the GTX770 card. I will see if I can change them back and try to run DCS World again. Has anyone recorded some optimum/standard Nvidea settings to run DCS recorded anywhere?

AtaliaA1 Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Solo: Make sure you start the Sim. with the same resolution as your desk top. I guess I should say try, not make sure but I am almost certain this was an issue for some. This was a Boutique Builder iBuypower rig. Until I got the tinker bug again i7 920 @3.6Mhz 12Gig Corsair XMS3 ram 1600 Nvidia 760 SLi w/4Gig DDR5 Ram Intel 310 SSD HDD 160 Gb + Western Digital 4Terabyte HDD Creative SB X-Fi HD Audio Logitech X-530 5.1 Surround Speaker System Dual Acer 32"Monitors. PSU 1200 w Thermaltake Win10 64Bit.
Solo86 Posted August 14, 2013 Author Posted August 14, 2013 I managed to get it sorted last night thankfully. First I restored my computer to before the problems occurred. However when I started DCS World it was fine until I tried to fly. I then started DCS World and checked the settings for Video. The resolution was a one to use with my 3 x monitor display. I changed it to a standard 1920 x 1080 and started the simulation. Everything now worked which narrowed the problem down to the resolution. I then realised what I think had happened. I was trying to use a resolution that no longer existed. Let me explain. When I first got the system I had 3 x Iiyama monitors. When you set up the 3 monitors to act as 1 screen in the Nvidea utility it gives the option for bezel correction (which I used). This then creates a customised resolution taking the bezel correction into account. e.g. 3 x monitors running at 1920 x 1080 = 5760 x 1080 3 x monitors running at 1920 x 1080 with bezel correction = 5600 x 1080I had created a customised resolution and applied it to DCS World. I then decided to swap the 3 x Iiyama for 3 x 24" Asus VN248H Super Narrow Bezel LED Monitor. When I set them up to use bezel correction the custom resolution was different from the 3 x Iiyama. I hadn't used DCS World since changing the monitors so the resolution was set to the 3 x Iiyama custom bezel correction. This was no longer a valid resolution after changing the monitors. Once I changed the resolution to the new customised bezel correction one everything worked fine. Phew...... I hope you can understand the solution. If anyone wants further explanation just let me know. Thanks again for all your help. EDIT : AtaliaA1. You got it correct. The resolution in DCS World DID NOT match my desktop resolution. Spot on....!

Solo86 Posted August 14, 2013 Author Posted August 14, 2013 Sith Thanks. Hopefully the solution might help someone else with the same problem. As AtaliaA1 also mentioned making sure resolution in DCS World matches the resolution set on the system maybe this would be a good first step for someone experiencing a crash in DCS World. 159th Hope it's as easy as that for you too. Let us know if it fixes it for you.
ED Team NineLine Posted August 14, 2013 ED Team Posted August 14, 2013 Your problem sounds different Falcon, your crashes werent as often it seems, I think your issues may still hinge on memory issues... but try, you never know :) Would it really be that simple? 159th_Falcon Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 (edited) Unfortunately your right Sithspawn. At least in the fact that its different. Desktop and ingame resolution are EXACTLY the same. btw, i also figured out where in windows you can log RAM usage. Once i figure out how to set it up ill post here on the forums somewhere. (you need to set it up trough Performance Monitor, type perfmon in start menu) Edited August 14, 2013 by NineLine [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
