T0x1s Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Hello I was thinking of buying the Su-25 and i just want some info about it if it is good or not :) Also do anyone know if they will release the F-15 standalone? :D MVH T0x1s :)
TurboHog Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 good or not Good. It has become my favourite airplane. It is much more interesting flying than the A10C. You'll have to create your SA by looking outside rather than using datalink, TGP, markpoints etc... F-15 standalone? Yes + AFM. 1 'Frett'
T0x1s Posted August 21, 2013 Author Posted August 21, 2013 Thank you very much :D I will buy it. I was a fan of the free Su-25t then i saw this :D But i know it don't have clickable cockpit which is ok for me but the startup and weapon use is it similar to the free Su-25T?
VapoR Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Weapon use is more primitive as there is no HUD. In some ways this is easier as there's less to mess with but it can also be more challenging. The Su-25 is an extremely rewarding fighting experience.
kontiuka Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Thank you very much :D I will buy it. The Su-25 is far less sophisticated than the Su-25T. Most notably, the Su-25 does not have the Shkval TV system, the Vikhr anti-tank missles, or SEAD capability. It is more of a rocket and bomb truck with limited laser guided missle ability. But it is still a fun plane to fly since it is faster and more agile and more of a challenge.
Flying Penguin Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I know you've already aid you'll buy it, but just to say you won't be disappointed, it is a great little bomb truck, beautifully modelled and definitely puts the biggest smile on my face when you get it right. It forces you to really go old school and there are few things more exciting than going caveman, in at low level, countermeasures popping off the back, emptying all your rockets into a convoy in a hail of fiery death before egressing in the weeds, rounds buzzing all around... :D I'm not sure I'd want to take one into a modern combat environment in real life, but it's definitely my favourite plane in DCSW  Per Ardua Ad Aquarium :drink: Specs: Intel i7-9700K, GTX 2080TI, 32GB DDR4, ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E, Samsung 970 EVO NVMe M.2
TurboHog Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 One thing I have to tell all new Su-25 Pilots: Allow your HSI to align for 2-3 minutes (Turn on electrical system) before you start rolling. It's an undocumented feature. If you don't do the above you will notice incorrect HSI readings. 'Frett'

eurofor Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 The Su-25 overshadows everything else in DCS. You won't regret it. :joystick: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Maverick-X Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 [...] the Su-25 does not have the Shkval TV system, the Vikhr anti-tank missles, or SEAD capability.[...] I recall from the old LOMAC that the Su25 was able to use SEAD weapons. Was this a bit of "overability" or is the current Su simply missing this feature?

Was this a bit of "overability" or is the current Su simply missing this feature? It did have access to the KH-58 and KH-25MP waaaaay back in early LOMAC, but they were removed by the time of LOMAC 1.1 as the real aircraft doesn't have that ability. TurboHog Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 No need for expensive SEAD missiles. S13 is the answer. Just did a mission in which I had to attack an enemy camp (lots of vehicles concentrated on one spot). So I took 30 S-13 rockets and fired them in salvo's at enemy positions from a distance of 2 - 2.5 nm. I then dived behind the ridge in front of me to dodge the missiles that were fired at me during the short time out of cover. Result: A dead Sa-15 and a Sa-13. A total of 39 vehicles killed (most of them exploded and damaged the next vehicle as I was receiving kills for several minutes after the attack). 30 of these kills were because of a salvo of 10 S-13 rockets. Maybe these things are slightly overpowered? So goodbye KH-58 and KH-25MPU. If there is cover available you just need S13 rockets  'Frett'
Maverick-X Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Ok... how about some S300 in open plain? Or less drastical some SA-11 Although killing a SA-15 with rockets is quite impressive. I dont quite believe you get as close as 2NM without being hit

I dont quite believe you get as close as 2NM without being hit Pop-up attacks, dive behind ridge after firing salvo. Anything in the open requires a low level attack, but is easily spoilt by AAA. I once attacked an airport which was not defended by AAA but only by Patriot, Hawk and Avengers. I succesfully took out the Patroit system before climbing just a little too high. Shouldn't have used outside view and maybe I could have survived... 'Frett'
Maverick-X Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 A mix of Patriots, Hawks and Avengers seems quite threatening, too. Patriots can engage quite low targets, Avengers ofc, too. I guess that's an extremely difficult task. I'd like to try that as it would improve my missile-dodging. Do you know the name of that mission?

I'll make a track, see if I can do it again... EDIT: In this track I destroy the Patriot and the Hawk (search) radar. Also one Avenger and multiple Patriot launchers... On the third run I get myself killed by making the same mistake as I did last time. Outside view and not watching my radar altimeter. You really need to be below 10 meters if you don't want to get hit by those Stingers. So stay inside your cockpit and watch that radar altimeter. It is your one and only effective countermeasure. I placed the units according to that multiplayer mission.Su-25 SEAD.trk Edited August 22, 2013 by TurboHog 'Frett'
T0x1s Posted August 22, 2013 Author Posted August 22, 2013 A question is there any night vision in the Su-25A cuz i can't find it :helpsmilie:
Flying Penguin Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) A question is there any night vision in the Su-25A cuz i can't find it :helpsmilie: Nope. Wait until sunrise ;) Alternatively, fit an SAB-100 illuminating flare bomb and drop it over the target. Ok these reference the T version, but the principle is the same. Harrysound Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 You know I might just take a punt on is too as I enjoy the su25t a lot these days. Just worried that their so similar.

I think you will appreciate the differences between them. It's not for nothing that the T is known as the flying brick in this forum. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
muamshai Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 buy it of course it is cheaper than what you would spend on your night out with you date, and still you can't be sure if you will get laid or not. This addon, on the other hand, will stay with you till the end of days. This space is available for your advertisement
