I only have the Su25T that is free with the DCS World download and I have a few issues with it.

So, I"m wondering if buying the Su25 will fix the problems I have with the Su25T?

My problems with the SU2T:

I can't change the zoom views via the NUM* Num/ keys on the keyborad as listed and the Logitech extreme 3D Pro buttons I've assigned to those functions (zoom out slowly and zoom in slowly) also don't work.

The throttle also doesn't seem to work on my joystick despite showing up assigned in the "controls" section.

I have the A10C and enjoy it and I have enjoyed playing the instant action combat missions in the SU25T as the weapons seem relatively simpler to use than the A10C, and fun to boot. But, I would like to have the zoom views and ability to control my power settings.

Also, what's the difference between the Su25 which one has to buy and the Su25T which is free? I'm assuming the functions I've described above come included with the SU25 and apparently not with the SU25T. Is it so, and someone explain the difference?

IIRC I had a little difficulty with the Su-25T zoom when using TrackIR but the */ zoom keys worked fine when just using keyboard/numpad and joystick.

As shown here:

The Su-25 6DoF cockpit does function more like the A-10C (without the clickable switches) but does not add anything to the Su-25T cockpit.

In layman's terms the free Su-25T is a Tank Busting version where they took the training version airframe, removed the dual seat and fitted a load of electronics, an IR jammer and modded engines for cooler temps after dealing with stinger missiles in Afghanistan.

There were only about 25 ? of these "specials". The FC Su-25 is the more common version (about 500 ?) in service i.e. used in Afghanistan/Georgia, sold in Africa, to N. Korea, etc.

Because of it's history/service the Su-25 is quite popular despite being less sophisticated than the Su-25T.

There are detailed articles on wiki and copies of aviation articles/magazines about the Su-25 and it's variants on the internet.

The zoom function is a bug type thingy related to 2D pits and head tracking with TIR. In the 3D pits it works.

Luckily ED are doing a 3D pit for the Cy-25t

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Ok, I just did a quick test and had no issues with cockpit zoom in the Su-25T.

1. Disable TrackIR if necessary (F9 by default)

2. Disable Mouse cursor (no yellow cross) if necessary (LAlt + C or Double click middle mouse button/scroll wheel

3. mouse or numpad to look, /* or scroll wheel to zoom

For TrackIR

4. Enable Mouse Cursor (Stops TiR/Mouse view conflict).

5. Enable TrackIR

My Saitek X52 Pro throttle JOY_Z is bound to the "Thrust" Axis Command and works as intended.

Thank you all!

In controls I deleted TrackIR mapped to Zoom and the zoom functions on the joystick buttons now work.

I also needed to map Thrust to my "Joy slider" instead of Joy_Z in order for the throttles to work with my Joy stick throttle.

I can now enjoy playing with this plane thanks to your help
