Pilotasso Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I'm used to read the latest and greatest on space exploration at night when finally I get home some peace at night and to relax a bit but it appears NASA website is shutdown. I cant seem to get any news as to what the implications are for the current on-going programs. Curiosity mars mission has left the rover sleeping? Dawn? New horizons? Is anyone taking care of them at all? Seriously concerned they could cause damage capable of throwing us back years... .
Feuerfalke Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Is there anything, that is not affected? Even Lockheed has cut work on defense programs. I know, politics are not to be discussed on the forums, but these days I wonder about the old quote: united we stand, divided we fall. :noexpression: MSI X670E Gaming Plus | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 64 GB DDR4 | AMD RX 6900 XT | LG 55" @ 4K | Cougar 1000 W | CreativeX G6 | TIR5 | CH HOTAS (with BU0836X-12 Bit) + Crosswind Pedals | Win11 64 HP | StreamDeck XL | 3x TM MFD

leafer Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 I couldn't care less about Lockheed, but NASA shutting down the website? Wow, that is sad. :( ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
Pilotasso Posted October 7, 2013 Author Posted October 7, 2013 Agree, military aviation takes second place here in my book. Anything connected to government has shutdown their sites. Even satellite (sorry for pun) sites that are still up, have stopped updating. I hope ESA has taken over critical functions of on-going missions. .
FanBoy2006.01 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Yes. The government shut-down in the USA is extremely alarming. I was shocked to see how far reaching it is. I hope their will be a positive outcome to this whole thing.

Tumbleweed Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I couldn't care less about Lockheed, but NASA shutting down the website? Wow, that is sad. :( From the NASA website: Due to the lapse in federal government funding, this website is not available. I see the whitehouse page is still up with a disclaimer on it that says the info might be out of date. Don't see why NASA couldn't have done the same and left the static content online. Talk about overkill. I can appreciate the cost of running media streams, live TV etc. and the manpower behind them but to take the whole site offline is just stupid IMO. VincentLaw Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 speaking of NASA's website, I am amused: http://en.ria.ru/russia/20131004/183931414/Russian-Pirates-Offer-NASA-Help-in-Times-of-Crisis.html [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Odinochka Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Don't think so. They aren't stupid to just dump a few hundred of millions just cause of the political showoff.
Pilotasso Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 The disaster has been averted. lets see how the space programs survived in the next few days. .
