Hello all, First Time Poster

I am having a problem with installation of an X52 Pro.

If anyone has a quick answer please reply as I need to make a decision about getting one as a Christmas gift.

My son lent me his x52 Pro that he got last Christmas to see if I liked it enough to ask for one for myself. I am really hoping to use this for Star Citizen.

I installed both the 7_0_27_13 Smart Technologies 64 bit software and 64 bit drivers. Installation seemed to go okay.. At one point I was presented with the display that shows button pushes and slide responses.

The mini MSD panel, which was lit all through installation, went out... the rest of the LEDs remained lit.

That's when I found that I could not access the internet (I was going to look for information about the mini msd)

I attempted to access my Mozzilla Thunderbird email to ask my son if he'd had

any issues, but could not as it could not access the internet.

I started the Task Manager in an attempt to stop the Smart Technologies processes, and found 4 or 5 Smart Technologies processes listed in the Task Manager SERVICES list.

Each time I attempted to stop one of the processes, one would restart again before I could get the others stopped..

I tried the Control Panel to uninstall but it would just hang.

Eventually I found that even though I could move the mouse and click on things nothing was actually responding to the clicks... this was also true of attempting to Shut Down the PC.

I could only shut down the PC by holding down the power button...

After restarting the PC without the x52 Pro plugged in, I was able to access the internet.

I started to wonder if my problem was having too many USB items plugged in... maybe my power supply was running close to margin.

I had the following on USBs

USB transmitter for Wireless Mouse

USB transmitter for Wireless headset

USB camera

USB printer,

USB G15 Gaming Keyboard

USB for a set of 3 daisy-chained DVD carousel storage units

I unplugged my camera, printer and DVD carousels plugged in the x52 PRO and the problem reoccurred.

Once again I could only recover if I held in the power button until the PC powered off.

I unplugged the x52 Pro and powered back up and was able to run the uninstall program and once again access the internet.

I reset my PC and attempted to reinstall the above software and the process failed due to time out.

Attempts to uninstall anything that may have installed failed.

I had to use a "Restore Point" to return the PC back to prior attempts at x52 Pro installation.

Please help.. I am praying that answer is not that I can't use the x52 Pro I love the feel and layout of the hardware.

Could be a driver issue. I have an x52 non pro that's about 4 yrs old. I've noticed a bad connection to the USB port causes the lights to work but the msd panel wont light up. I've not had the other problems you have described but maybe try a different USB port. It does look like a software problem though.

Earlier Drivers

Pacotito,

Thanks for quick reply.

I'm fairly confident that the USB port if fine, however will try your suggestion

and try a different port and double check that connection is sound.

When you look at the Task Manager SERVICES list, when the X52 is plugged

in, how many times does Smart Technologies appear in the list?

I've seen other posts talk about software hanging and stuff and there have

been suggestions to try an earlier version of both software and driver.

Gonna see if I can find that or get my son to send his version.

I am so hoping to solve this in time for "ahem" Santa to bring me one.

Thanks :pilotfly:

I ran into issues whenever I had Teamspeak running (not necessarily connected, just running) and my PC exhibited similar symptoms to yours. Had to go into Options - Hotkeys and change to "Keyboard & Mouse Only"; turns out my X52 Pro was conflicting with TS.

Hi Tone71,

Haven't run TS with this PC.. But, I do have Logitech's G15 Gaming software running.. gonna try stopping that temporarily.

Also going to try using the 32 bit versions of software and driver.

I've seen suggestions to use earlier versions of the drivers any chance you

know of a place to find them?

Thanks for the info above.. anything and everything could provide a clue.

I think I installed the same drivers as you:

Saitek_X52Pro_Flight_Controller_7_0_27_13_x64_Drivers.exe

Saitek Smart Technology 7.0.2.7 x64.exe

These worked for me; not sure where to go for other versions.

Have you gone into Windows "Devices and Printers" and checked the properties of the X52? You might have a button stuck down or something. Also, if your LCD screen isn't coming on when you plug the stick in, that might signal a dodgy cable; I've had my PC freeze before when this cable came loose and I plugged it back in whilst in-game.

Latest attempt may have fixed?!

After running a RESTORE POINT to before I tried anything with the X52 PRO,

I tried running JUST the device driver for 64 bit... It got part way through and

got hung up again, requiring me to hold the power button to get the PC to shutdown since Task Manager couldn't end the processes.

I've had a Cyborg EVO stick for a bunch of years.

So after I finished running another RESTORE POINT

I though...let me just plug in the X52 Pro and see what it does.

The unit powered up and when I ran the Control Panel feature, it displayed

a window that would highlight which button I was pressing or which joystick

axis I was moving. It let me change the colors of the buttons.. green to red.

I tried running the profiler that lets me assign character outputs so I can assign a button to output the necessary keybinding to perform the task I want ...like "M" to shoot a missle.

The Profiler said that it couldn't find all the files needed to run....soooo

I reinstalled the Profiler I have used with my old Saitek Cyborg EVO joystick.

It does however have the same version numbers as the one I just downloaded

for the X52 PRO.

I replugged in the X52 Pro and the profiler sees it.. so there seems to be a problem with the NEW stuff I just downloaded the other day from Saitek...

I think things are going to work....

Thanx for your replies... :thumbup::joystick::pilotfly:

And this is why I hate computers! :) Glad you got it sorted.

I also had serious problems with MADCATZ drivers for Saitek X52. I went back to a restore point before the driver install and installed an older driver set I had laying around. I first tried to uninstall the drivers but the uninstall program does not remove the driver from windows system and file SAIK075C.SYS will be prevent installation of the older driver. Problem with drivers 7.0.27.13 and SST in the same version. I went back to Saitek driver 6.0.4.1 and SST version 9.9.9.9 and all works perfect again. I’m running Windows 7 64 bit.

I had exactly the same issues as you describe above! And after rebooting, my computer won't even boot to windows if I have the X52 Pro connected with those drivers. Everything stops working if I plug in the device once booted to Windows. Internet connection issues, explorer.exe crashes, devices can't be accessed in the control panel etc.

Anybody has any older drivers available? The Saitek website doesn't offer older versions :(

Hello Kelvin Kay.

I just buy a X-52 Pro and I have the same problem than you 2 years ago. My computer is completely messed up !

I tried a fresh reinstalation of windows, the stick was working pretty well and nothing was buging until I instal Logitech Gaming Software for my G19 logitech keybord.

I don't exactly undestand what you do for solving your problem. Did you instal an older version of the pilot ? or profiler software ?

Thanks for helping me, I am going crazy with this stick.
