Guest IguanaKing Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 How does a ground pounder know what his objective is in HL? Is the ground battle just a "if it moves, kill it" kind of fight? That's what it seems to be on the few servers I have been on.

That's what it seems to be on the few servers I have been on. The ground missions will usually have a fairly detailed briefing, IK. Some are more complicated than others, but you can easily kill a bunch of your own guys if you don't read them. 504's server runs about 90 /120 minutes or so per mission then auto- loads a new one. There's at least 4 maps running. [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]

If you have problems with the breifings let us know, some are better than others :D http://www.vvs504.co.uk/squad-ops/forumdisplay.php?f=6 :icon_syda VVS504 Red Hammers
S77th-konkussion Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 heheh yeah I figgered it was more, but I was trying to be careful about what I said... My guess was 6 or 7, initially.. [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
S77th-konkussion Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 The 504's room can become an airquake at times, I mean..if you're in there in an A10 with no cover, and 4 guys come in on red in Mig's and SU's.. give chase & start orbiting my home airport. Well obviously I musta scared 'em or they wouldn't have had to do that, :D but still - Air cover. It's a good thing. 504 Wolverine Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Yeah tell me about it, sometimes its just me in my 25T then 3 or 4 F-15's join.:icon_conf Probably why I don't spend a lot of time on the server unless our squad is on, that way I am assured some CAP. [/url]

Gazehound Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Will try and encourage people to join to make sides even, (although stat whores will probably all join whoever has most players :)). This has been a problem since the server went up. It is impossible to have 'red' vs 'blue' planes since one side generally has 90% of the players on it depending on the time of day. We have 1/2 the missions now designed with all planes on each side, and all missions now have at least migs on the same side as the eagles so please people play sensibly and even out the sides. This extends to checking the type of planes people are flying - if there are 4 hogs on one side and two flankers on the other - join the hogs :). A small success story related to this - there are some missions where a side with 30% fighters has completely shut down a side with 80% fighters. This is related to SEAD and EWR strikes but also these same missions are generally bomber friendly having the targets nearer to the strike homeplate than to the enemy - the key is to make sure you read the breif and map, I have employed the above tactic very far from home - know where your freindly SAMS are :D (ships are best) You can take out greedy fighters easily like that!
