When landing on grass, the airframe REALLY bounces. It's as if the ground is made of rubber. If it was only landing, it wouldn't be too bad. But when you try and take off, suddenly the front or the back will shoot up in the air really quickly. Anyone else experience this?

Confirmed here. Probably a limitation of the terrain physics. However I would say it is less problematic during landing, but surely it makes the takeoff from grass tricky. After landing if it is still bouncing - I have experienced it on sloppy terrain - pull the brake and push the cyclic to the direction it wants to lift/bounce, then push the trim. It will stand still.

its the Front Wheel...

If you land on a Steep Surface and touchdown only with one rear wheel, its not a problem... But only with the Front causes a bouncing. Its clearly a Bug...

There was a Video of an AW139 which puts the frontwheel on the ground, and the turns the whole helicopter on the slope. I cant find it, but it was quite impressive... i wanna do that :D but with the dancing nose, its not possible... ^^

Hmmm... terrain landings can be done in both the Shark and the Huey if one is careful I've found, so maybe the Mi-8 is still at an earlier developmental stage and thus lacks the capability? Cannot say since I really haven't flown this bird in any meaningful capacity just yet...

The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

Hmm I really think it's down to practice. Admittedly there can be some bounce but check your collective when you touch down. I found I was giving it too much at first but if you time it right you can touch down sweetly. Granted I got shed loads of practice testing out missions I was making :)

I have been able to get it to bounce when it's very light on the wheels, but so far I have only gotten it to *really* do it once. Best way to avoid it, in my opinion so far, is when landing, once the wheels touch, bottom the collective fairly quickly (don't forget left pedal at the same time) and when taking off, again do it with a sense of purpose, don't be too soft with it. It's hard for me to explain.

It does seem like there is a "bounce" on occasion, and I'm still trying to replicate it in a way where I can have it happen "on command" if you will. If it can be reproduced easily and often, then it can be submitted to the devs.

Excellent, thanks for looking into this Alpha. There's a dramatic difference between landing on a hard surface and on the grass. I'm guessing this isn't the way things are supposed to be.
