Based on comments from those already in the Olympic Village on social media, you'll have a better shot at relieving yourself in a sanitary fashion in your piddle pack-ed flight suit than you will on the ground. :D

Somebody could build a pretty good crossover scenario... basically have everybody with an air-to-ground flair join in. Mi-8s to bring in operators/exfil hostages, A-10s and Sharks for direct support...

Apparently I'm missing context, and I'm betting it has to do with what appears to be deletions.

Then you are wrong. The posts deleted had nothing to do with people spoiling themselves.

I thought these articles called "Sochi Sitrep" might help with some mission plannings, there are things listed in here about operations and such that might make for a more believable scenario. For those not wanting to read the articles, I have posted snips of information for mission scenarios. No intentions here of involving any politics this is for INFORMATION ONLY, and I'm hoping people will leave it out and not comment politically on these articles. Sobek if you feel this post needs to be deleted, I understand.

Sochi Sitrep Part 3

Some excerpts from the articles that might be helpful:

Equipment and make up of ICE

25hfs50.jpg

Part 1:

The ICE forces are seasoned fighters who excel in small unit actions without logistical support. Their squads are often built around heavy weapons such as PKMs, RPGs, and grenade launchers.
ICE forces also contain specific anti-armor and anti-helo “hunter- killer” teams...
Part 2:

They had had grenades, ammunition, and an IED in their possession.
Part 3:

While conducting sensitive site exploitation the Russian forces found a large IED and a magnetic mine.
So missions can be created it seems where there are troops with an ability to do damage to aircraft, so that at least ups the difficulty level in that you won't just be dealing with infantry armed only with rifles. You aren't going to be dealing with SAMs or tanks, but it is better than just simply strafing rifle infantry that can't do much to you. Also there is IED use, though I'm not sure how this can be done in mission editor. Can there be triggers for an explosive in ME?

Comments on Russian forces

24ysdtz.jpg

14nn50y.jpg

Part 1:

Best described as a task force, this unit was comprised of VDV paratroopers and Naval Infantry backed up by Special Forces troops.
This shift from massed armor and artillery (their classic doctrine) to utilizing smaller, more elite forces has increased since the Second Chechen War. Russia has poured vast resources into its Special Operations Units.
However, do not expect massed tank formations in the Caucasus. Instead we may witness the shelving of the Russian Hammer and the first incision of the new Russian Scalpel. The traditional crushing doctrine is being replaced with one built around finesse and modern intelligence gathering.
Part 2:

As predicted, Russian mechanized forces have not surged into the Caucasus 125mm cannons blazing. What has transpired is a massive internal security operation. True to the new Russian Scalpel, the FSB (Federal Security Service) and Russian SOF have been busy in the shadows.
...including over 30,000 police and MVD troops
Putin will also be throwing the full power of Russian ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) capabilities at the Sochi security situation. This will include the unblinking eye of UAVs and reconnaissance satellites, as well as an estimated 5,000 surveillance cameras and sonar systems deployed along the coast to prevent seaborne infiltration and complete the net.
As far as UAVs go, I don't think we have Russian ones in game yet do we? If not, anyone know of mods to make an American drone look like a Russian one?

This operation was captured on film and showed Russian forces using up to 5 therombaric rockets in the form of RPO-A Shmel shoulder fired rockets. Apparently the Russians do not care for kinetic or explosive breaching as much as Western units; instead, as in several other raids, they used a BTR-80 APC to knock a wall down for entry.
Platforms such as the Shmel are much more effective in this application than anti-armor platforms such as the AT-4 or Javelin. Several Shmels basically demolished a large well built concrete building.
Part 3:

(Alfa is a highly specialized Russian Counter-Terror unit)
Outside country security

Part 2:

The U.S. Ski Team has even hired a private security company to evacuate them if an attack takes place.
This could work for including aircraft like the Hueys, they can be part of a private security firm extraction.

I'm not sure just how much of the territory mentioned here is actually mapped in DCS, someone more familiar with this would be able to tell.

ICE operation locations

Part 1:

their ability to carry out long range operations in the mountains between Grozny and Russia proper.
Part 2:

took place in the Stavropol area of Russian, just 186 miles south of Sochi
Part 3:

Dagestan has been the site of grenade and small arms attacks during the same time period.
Locations of Russian operations

Part 2:

Subsequent to those activities the FSB has launched a large counter terror operation in the Stavropol area.
...have captured five terror suspects in Nalchik which is 185 miles from Sochi
Part 3:

As predicted in the last article a number of high profile capture/kill operations have been launched across the Caucasus.
The first on January 15th near Khasavyurt, Dagestan was a particularly brutal close quarter battle. Russian FSB special purpose troops located and closed with several ICE Jihadis that had gone firm in a house. Special operations forces set up stopper groups as FSB attempted to make entry into the building. The attempted entry was conducted at night. This is a departure from most Russian operations, which traditionally taking place during daylight. While assaulting the home the assaulters came under heavy machine gun fire and grenade attacks. The Jihadis then attempted to escape and evade running into the SOF stopper groups.
This mission took place near Makhachkala, Dagestan...
The day following the successful capture/kill operation in Makhachkala...
It seems we are not limited in simple extraction missions rescuing athletes and civilians. We can produce missions supporting SF operations as well. This definitely helps when it comes to the Ka-50, since my understanding is that it is primarily used to support SF. Other Russian air assets like the Mi-8 and Su-25(T) are also big ones to use in these missions. Combined Arms can also be involved, especially using IFVs. I can't see where Russian fighters would be used, granted any real life operations likely have fighter cover anyway, but what would they possibly engage?

The Huey can also make an appearance as part of the private security that was hired, such as the one by the US Ski team. I can't see any scenario where an A-10 or F-15 would be used. Granted you could slap the Russian skin on the A-10C and use it anyway, but the F-15? Even slapping a Russian skin on it, it'll have little use just like the Russian fighters.

Anyway, hope this gives some good mission ideas. I'm thinking of working on one myself if I find the time.

To bottomless perdition, there to dwell; In adamantine chains and penal fire"

I didn't say it did. When someone makes the remark that "maybe they'll piss themselves" without qualifying who "they" are- terrorist types, or the moderation staff (which, considering the number of the "no politics" deletions and comments, one could infer that it's the staff on the verge of pissing their pants), then I'm going to admit that I've not got context, and that I'm taking a chance on it being tied together with inferences to "terrorist types", which are politically motivated.

Which is amusing, because it's pretty clear that Djent's wanting to make a point through subtext, and I'm the one you're griping at for making a statement about disengaging.

Just so you are in the know - I have had posts deleted with being informed.

Perhaps it was an 'oversight' in my case, and that occurrence was just an 'exception' to your rule. :music_whistling:
