Hi folks, Just a quick note to let you know that, at long last, there's a new tutorial with voiceover on my website. Called "Outmaneuvering SAMs" (Flaming Cliff V1.11), it deals with, well, er, outmaneuvering SAMs. Aimed at our less experienced pilots, it's goal is to help them understand how SAMs fly and how to use three-dimensional space to defeat these missiles. In the tutorial you are flying an A-10 and are challenged by a Tunguska SA-19 Air Defense System (ADS) battalion. You'll find it on the "Suppression of Air Defenses" page. Feels like this sim is getting more and more unbalanced when it comes to realism, first only AFM for two planes and soon 6DOF for only a helicopter. Ka-50 - AFM and 6DOF, ADM (Advanced Damage Model) Su-25T - AFM, ADM Su-25 - AFM Su-27 - Nothing Su-33 - Nothing MiG-29 - Nothing A-10 - Nothing F-15 - Nothing The fun level is at max at the top of the list and falling as you go down :( Not to mention that MP games easily becomes sim vs not-as-sim... And yes, I know there are a lot of work to make all aircraft have AFM, ADM and 6DOF.... still, I think this imbalance hurts the breadth of the game as, at least I, will be less likely to use the "nothing" planes as it feels a bit like playing another, less realistic, sim when you go from the Su-25's to one of these aircraft.. it's just not the same. And when we get the Ka-50 with 6DOF the difference in immersion will be even greater I think. I guess nothing can be done though, I guess I'll just have to take it as it is, and will be.

Writing flight plans manually is real hard work: The data is entirely contained in the mission file. I think about writing a tool for printing out flight plans for every machine (should be selectable). Does anybody have some information of the internal format of the mis files?

Вот поиграл на быструю два трэка МиГ-29А против Ф-15С с Аим-120. :icon_redf Первый как безбожно мажет Р-60, проходя в нескольких см от Фки :) Ну, что хотеть ракета не первой свежести... приходиться бить из пушки - хотя некоторые обитатели форума хотят вычеркнуть БВБ, как неэфективный ;) А второй как я понимаю баг, Р-27 идет за Фкой и попадает после того как меня уже забили... и я отвернулся от цели. :icon_roll

Don't forget that the lighthouses in Lockon flash at night, so strobes on aircraft ought not to be too big a deal? Of course I'll want flashing lights on TV/Radio masts, oil rigs, etc. too. :icon_wink

Мнение одного бывшего летчика ИБ сводится к тому, когда грамотно организованно противодействие силами РЭБ то весь бой в воздухе будет сводится к БВБ, на это и расчитовали в СССР при противодействии США. Прикрытие ударной группы самолетов осуществлялось как мобильными наземными мощными станциями РЭБ, так и воздушными, на носителях Вертолетах МИ-8, транспортных самолетов, и на группах прикрытиях в которых шли самолеты РЭБ, те же ИБ с СПС, такое комбинированное применение аппаратуры РЭБ позволяла гарантированно забить РЛС противника до дистанции применения ближнего оружия В-В
