  1. Must be my lucky day... I just got a FREE subscription to a 100 slot Ventrilo server for 1 year... hard to believe, I know... :D (server ends April 22, 2008). I guess I can do some of you a favor, if your squadron or future squadron don't have a voice server yet you guys are always welcome to use mine. I can easily create channels for your squadron, hand out some admin, etc. I'm trying to make this server as public as possible, for different games and clans and squadrons, etc. Feel free to spread the word, 100 slots IS quite a bit!! First come first serve. I do however have some strict rules on the server against spamming, flaming, or anything that can make the server a bad environment. Can't type them all out now, if you're interested just connect to the server and read the welcome message. IP: 66.207.167.30 PORT: 9845 Location: Dallas, Texas One year is quite a long time, for those future users on the server who enjoy it, paypal donations are gladly accepted and appreciated. Who knows, I might even lengthen the subscription life of the server if I get enough income through my job and some side donations! Thanks for your precious time reading this advertisement :P

  2. ....I will post a beta release (v1.2) for LOFC soon. Ever since I saw some photo's on www.airliners.net of Adler airport I had plans to work on a new scenery version. I've finaly found some time and this (beta) version v1.2 that I'm about to release has over 150 objects added to the town of Adler. Furthermore an army base was added to the unpopulated part of the Ukrain and I started to work on a highway airstrip. Now before you start moaning about FPS, it's not that bad (only takes up an extra 1-2). Just remember that the final version (v2.0) will be a Black Shark version and you need a fast PC for that to run anyway. I'm still finishing up some details but I didn't want to keep you from some previews: Adler: airstrip: Army base & forest:

  4. LLTM Lockon Report Last weekend Virtual Aero's Hangar 23 was the theater for the ninth Lowland Tiger Meet. In three sections participants battled it out for the European Championship Lockon, IL-2 and Falcon 4. Because I had little chance to visit the Falcon and IL-2 sections, I'll limit my debrief to the Lockon section. On Thursday afternoon, the door opened for the first participants to build up and have some time for free flight. We spent the entire afternoon setting up the network and configuring the servers for the competition. LigerZero also set up our demo cockpit, which only lacked the intrument panel, because Wasserfall wasn't there yet, and would take it with him on Friday. Build-up was quite slow, as usual, because many people stopped by for a chat, and so it got quite late before everything was working correctly. On Friday morning we arrived early, and had to wait for Ice to open the door He arrived half an hour late due to heavy traffic, so we decided to invade Viper's camper in the meantime. At 8:30 the door opened and the newly arrived participants could start building up. After a few hours of laying cables, helping people set up their computer for the network, and a few minutes of free flight, it was time for the first briefing. The first mission was a mixed SEAD mission, where two teams of 6 had to destroy each other's air defences. Main target was a command bunker deep in enemy territory. For this mission we had Su-25s, A-10s and a MiG-29A at our disposal, the latter for escort and to shoot down enemy attack aircraft. The mission was set up like a short campaign, where the server stayed online between rounds to simulate a real combat environment. Between rounds the teams could use their gathered intelligence data to plot their new strategy for the next round. After the SEAD mission, where I found out the hard way that an S300 is an enemy to watch out for, we had a chance to regain our breath in the next mission: The Airrace. This was a challenge which was inspired by the Red Bull Airrace, where we had to fly under bridges, through narrow valleys and between gates marked by antennas with an Su-25A. The race started at Sochi-Adler, and went through the Kaukasus range, along the eastern boundary of the map, over Kerch, along Crimea over Simferopol, Belbek and Sevastopol, to finally land at Khersones airbase. We had two hours to complete this route. A nice extra challenge in the airrace was that there were no waypoints. We had only the maps we received during the briefing to find our way around. This made flying the track a lot more difficult, especially since there were SAM sites everywhere, which were ofcourse not on the map. Unfortunately the server got progressively slower during the mission because of the number of SAM radars and all the data it had to export for the competition, so in the end precise flying got nearly impossible. After the airrace it was time for the Nighttime BVR mission, with two new teams. For this mission, both teams had five pilots and one GCI controller to guide them. The GCI was an interesting concept I hadn't seen before, and tried my skills as a controller during the first round (which we won!) Just like a reallife night mission, we had to cope with sleep as well, since the mission started at 8pm, and lasted until 1am. The first mission on Saturday was a daytime BVR. This was basically the same as the last mission from Friday, except we had no GCI controllers this time, so now we had to rely on our own radar, and radio calls from our fellow team members. To make our lives more miserable up there, the ground at the frontline was littered with medium-range SAMs, which took me out in all three rounds. Next up was a CAS mission, where we had to clear a corridor to an enemy ammunition bunker well beyond the front line. In this mission I scored my first (and only) kill, of which I'm rather proud since it was also my very first combat mission in an A-10. I didn't have much time to celebrate my kill, since I was hit by an Osa missile from the same site I was attacking, and lost a wing. When the CAS mission was done, we entered the head to head Dogfight Knockout contest. This was a guns-only competition, where the first to win two out of three fights was on to the next round. As our team has never done dogfight practice, none of the Dutch Flanker Display Team pilots survived the first round. We used the extra spare time this gave us to do a crash course in aerial combat. During the lunch and dinner, there were two online formation displays. The lunch demo was flown by the White Ravens, with four of their Su-27 Flankers. During dinner, people could watch the Virtual Blue Eagles perform their show with six P-51C Mustangs in IL-2. This left only one mission for Sunday: the already famous LLTM Airshow. The airshow started at 12pm, and until that time all participants had time to practice a 5 to 8 minute solo display with their favourite aircraft. This gave the audience a nice two-hour airshow, with a variety of aircraft performing, including the Su-27, Su-33, MiG-29, F-15C, MiG-29S, Su-25A and A-10. To mark the end of the competition, all participants still at the event performed a mass take-off and fly-by, before leaving the virtual airspace of Belbek. After the airshow it was time for the closing ceremony, where we had some kind of luxury problem, because there were too many prices. This 'problem' was easily solved with a lottery, after which the winners of each section were announced. When the closing ceremony was over, it was time to pack up, and go for a drink at Virtual Aero. Frazer and I took the opportunity to book a flight in the full motion simulator, which earned me another drink :) At 8:15pm, Scudslaker, Frazer and I were the last to leave. All in all it was yet another perfect event, which went by way too quickly. I've met a lot of interesting new people, on top of the many ones I learned to know in past events, and exchanged lots of information and experience. I would like to thank the people from Virtual.Aero and Tobit for the excellent location and supply of food and drinks for the entire weekend, and of course Jan 'Ice' Hilt for organising yet another wonderful event. Many thanks also to the sponsors Linksys, Saitek, NaturalPoint, Tecpoint24 and the RNLAF 323 Squadron, for their generous offer of prices and making the whole event possible. In a while we will announce the date for the LLTM 2008, which will be the tenth edition of one of the most popular military flightsim events in Europe. To close off this report, here are the results of all competitions flown during the weekend: Skills competition Il-2 FB 1. 1.JaVA Erretje - Keben 2. JG-154 Klaus – Dietrich 3. 88.IAP Adam – Andre Dogfight competition Il-2 FB Finale round was between JG-154 (Bruno – Emiel) – 88.IAP (Andre – Adam) Winner was 8IAP. 5. I was noodling around in Vista when I think I have discovered how to get LockOn to look great in it. Installation: Prior to installing, right click the setup.exe, go to properties, compatibility tab, and check the boxes for both the Run as Administrator and Run in Compatibility Mode for XP-SP2. Then install by clicking the same setup.exe. (Do this for all other programs for LockOn as well such as Loman, Modman, etc...) Once it has installed and all of your mods are installed, go to the LockOn folder on your hard drive (normally in the C:/Program Files/ Ubisoft/Eagle Dynamics/Lock On/) and find the LockOn.exe file. Right click the LockOn.exe file, go to properties, compatibility tab, and again for this, check the boxes for Run as Administrator, Run in Compatibility for XP-SP2 and also check the box next to "Disable Desktop Composition". This last setting changes the Vista Aero scheme to the Vista Basic mode in effect disabling Aero from Vista. Once you are done flying, Vista will revert back to normal, and then the next time you go to play LockOn, it will change back automatically for you. This has fixed the disappearing cockpit and other graphic problems I had on the nVidia card system with nVidia chipset I have. I hope it works for you as well.

  6. So... Hi everyone ! Nice to post here. I present you my first attempt in the world of skinning. It's the real camo of an angolan su-27. I use the template of Flanker, found on lockonskins. Light modifications, but he still does the great work :music_whistling: There are lot of better skins, but I can't work on this one for several weeks... I had to learn everything, including photoshop... I will maybe upgrade it with the su-30 camo. You can find it on http://www.checksix-fr.com/bibliotheque/index.php?page=detail&ID=5277 Two skins, with and without markings. Comments are welcome.

  7. Just thought i let you all we are making the site better with secure code changes and bug fixes. We got "hacked" again with some sort of java code injection from a .RU source/server so thats been cleared and locked down. Changes to the skins download sections have been made, you can now see thumbnail images of the skins whilst you browse. Clicking on them will link to the full size image this is all generated automatically when you upload your skins. More little changes on the way. Our doors are open to skinners and mission makers who can with a quick registration on the forums (needed to create your own upload account) upload skins and missions with no limit of space and bandwidth. To download anything you dont need to register or login just help yourself, we have some forums which are quite quiet so if you feel like a chat about anything in a lite and easy going atmos (Kenan1000000000000001 is our moderator so anything goes lol) feel free and welcome to join in. Thanks for support us.

  8. I'm not being overzealous. If anything- I'm moderating the FICTION that gets pasted all over this forum by certain people who are OBSESSED with trashing ALL things USAF, USN-and, let's be honest here- US. Find one post from me that states that an F22 is never going to go down. Maybe by fire- maybe by failure. If it's made by man- it's imperfect. All I'm saying is enough of the speculation and wishful thinking FICTION being stated as though it has a fingernail in fact. Some of you are literally making things up to suit your bias. FACT: The Mig 31 is faster than an F22 and can employ a longer range Air to air weapon. (R-33.) FICTION: Therefore it is much more effective at taking out a fleet of bombers as an example. Or- plane "X" can carry more fuel than the raptor- therefore it has longer range. Not neccessarily true. Raptor's efficiency means going farther on the same fuel. Simply put if you have a fact- say it! I don't care if it's better than US plane "X" if it's TRUE. This type of poll & thread is STUPID because many of you can't or don't want to differentiate what's real and what's your own opinion.

  9. I know what I'd say though ... 'What you did up there was a brave thing. What you SHOULD have done was land your plane!' 'I still can't believe I'm going to do this; I've got to send someone from this squadron to Miramar. I'm going to give you your dream shot. You two *characters* are going to top gun!' ... But no seriously. If it got shot down after taking out 8 bandits I'd say it did its job. It's not a bad exchange ratio. Better yet, if in a 4v24 we were to lose 1 Raptor, I'd call that an incredible exchange ratio - well worth the $$

  11. He wants 1K (./joke) Sorry for the execute /run... it's just a feature of the spanish language. Sorry if repeat, but was only to ensure he got it :P And well..... the gateway of your pc's is the router. The gateway of the router is the ip of the equipment of your ISP that connects you to the internet. The possibility of have two ip's on the router it's due to Cisco's routers for example, works with cards. One card, one Nic. You can direct the traffic to one card or other assigning one ip to each. Usually for home there is only one ip for the whole router but well... I can't confirm that due to my xdsl router has only one physical port. The mask it's a number of 32 bits. It's an orientation that tells how has to be "played?" the ip and identifies the number of bits that especifies the computer net. 192.168.x.x it's a third level ip, so its mask has to be of the 255.255.255.x type; if you are not doing subnetting; but well... you assume it's 255.255.255.0 and you don't need nothing else for home.
