  2. ....I will post a beta release (v1.2) for LOFC soon. Ever since I saw some photo's on www.airliners.net of Adler airport I had plans to work on a new scenery version. I've finaly found some time and this (beta) version v1.2 that I'm about to release has over 150 objects added to the town of Adler. Furthermore an army base was added to the unpopulated part of the Ukrain and I started to work on a highway airstrip. Now before you start moaning about FPS, it's not that bad (only takes up an extra 1-2). Just remember that the final version (v2.0) will be a Black Shark version and you need a fast PC for that to run anyway. I'm still finishing up some details but I didn't want to keep you from some previews: Adler: airstrip: Army base & forest:

  3. ****************Update for sake of clarity***************** 300Mb (800x600) version here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=56GWIA0W 95Mb version (640x480) here: http://rapidshare.com/files/28222717/mcp12_95Mb_.zip.html 95Mb mirror thanks to the good folk at JaboG32: http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=downloads&subcat=28&lang=en YouTube version... Red Bear Rising Part 1 (mostly foreplay ;-): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBBVbAbydo8 Red Bear Rising Part 2 (hardcore action): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ATp8po2jGY *************************************************** In March I started work on a movie to promote and show off the 25T in Flaming Cliffs. It's set a little further on in time from my Tornado movie, and took just a little longer than I'd hoped.... because it was March 2006 when I started! But now it's *finally* time to kick the darned thing off my HD and out into cyberspace to fend for itself. To be honest I'll be glad to see the back of it. We've been through the lovey-dovey stage where we were never apart, gone past the comfortable 'finishing each other's sentences' stage, and have now hardly spoken to each other for months even though we've been forced to spend a lot of time together for the sake of the kids. Time for a divorce. ;-) The movie is over 17 minutes long (so you'll need a large bucket of popcorn and a toilet break half way through) and I've managed to squeeze it into about 95Mb on Rapidshare. I did upload a larger version to another free site, but the downloads were so slow I dumped it. This will do for now though; the quality's not as bad as I'd expected, given the length, and if there's enough interest I'll find somewhere with more elbow room at a later date (though probably not for the 900Mb version. ;-) http://rapidshare.com/files/28222717/mcp12_95Mb_.zip.html 95Mb http://www.andrew.mcp.dsl.pipex.com/project12a.jpg Andrew McP PS The main action in this movie was filmed from a single combat mission. I could probably have made a better movie if I'd cut & pasted several different combat missions together, but I'm a bit of a purist... I like to make movies which reflect the sim as it really flies (even if it did take me many attempts to get a track I was happy with!) PPS If anyone missed the Tornado 'prequel' it's still live at... http://rapidshare.com/files/17669387/mcp11_97mb.wmv.html Just remember that if you download one movie from Rapidshare, you have to wait an hour or two before you can download another. Sorry about that, but RS is the best free site I've found so far, and the downloads are always fast (for me anyway!)

  4. Just a quick test to see how long you've all been at this.. ;) 1. In which PC flight simulation are you most likely to hear yourself say "Tracking - looks like the lizard"? 2. In which PC flight simulation is there a quick start mission called 'Zulu Bandits'? 3. Where are you most likely to hear your weapons officer say "Switching to LoBall"? 4. Psion's flight simulation for the ZX spectrum was unique in which key navigation tool? 5. In which flight simulation are you most likely to be flying an aircraft with the call sign "Baron 9-Lima-Golf"? 6. Which Rowan simulation is one of the few flight simulations to also include a strategic campaign based on real world events? 7. IL2 was vulnerable to which engine management exploit? 8. The attatched image is a screengrab from which 1990 flight sim? 9. What was the first PC simulation to allow you to design your own aircraft with a GUI? 10. In which simulator can you make your co-pilot throw up if you fly outside the envelope? Some of the answers may not be completely accurate - 'cos I've not had time or inclination to research them fully. I'll post them up later...

  5. I matched the -1 chart above in a test right now ... after you get to 350KIAS (from SAKI) I get 1nm to get to 5000' out of a 30000lbs aircraft, 1nm at 40000lbs, and 1.2nm at 45000lbs - 1.4 or so at 50000lbs. At least ... I think I matched it. Getting to 350 took 1nm, 1.2nm, 1.5nm and 1.6nm respectively. What exactly is the problem here?

  6. Come on! I'm sure you'll find it! :) It's F-16 Combat Pilot by Digital Integration, so it has to do with the F-16 in deed

  7. I think whats happening here is that were seeing some real progress taking place with finishing touches... Apparently ED has had plans for model upgrades, and it just stands to reason... Our views will be more closely focused on ground combat and choppers are move toward the forefront.. In Flameing Cliffs there are still a lot of models that have those clay like pilots and solders... I can understand why Ed's moving in this direction, it adds a lot to the immersion... I can see from the new screenies that the tress no longer have that transparent artificial look, but have taken on a more life like charterer.. More attention to trees is neede. So now will we still be able to fly through them unscathed, or will there be some damage modeling added... But IMHO, as I've stated in other posts, I think they should also think about rendering tall grasses, small bushes, and in some cases burned and smoking combat areas... And of course there is also a need to make the architecture more interesting... And those sail boats really do look attractive would they actually be in a combat zone?? Anyway these are just my opinions, I really do enjoy and feel that no other virtual world of combat even comes close to this one... And as far as my opinion is concerned its just that, and what I'm mostly interested in is seeing this sequel hit the selves... ~S~ Blaze

  8. I agree... in Lomac this time even is not 30 but 32 s. Did you noticed engine trim number 25 second acceleration is for? 102%! As we have turn and envelope data for 97.7% we presumed this trim value for MAX thrust. The same time for 95% trim in Dash 1 is about 42 s. Though the thrust is not a linear function of GG rpm the small part of this function can be linearized so try to find the time for 97.7 s regarding these Dash 1 numbers... ;)

  9. The actual FF is not indicated correctly. I have a little app for my G-15 that indicates fuel flow properly (by measuring fuel used) together with a custom bingo setting.

  10. I brought this up before - in the "real" top speed chart, the F-15's top speed shown (around Mach 2.3-4ish) is an airframe limit, not a performance limit - extended flight times beyond Mach 2.3 is not really friendly to the airframe. The curve literally looks like it hits a wall, with basically the F-15's envelope past that speed being truncated out. However, Lock On's curve looks like it takes it as an ACTUAL performance limit. It tops off at Mach 2.4, WITHOUT the wall. That's probably another indication of the lack of acceleration/thrust at altitude. If you take into consideration that the speed curve for the real F-15 above extends to Mach 2.5+ above, than the F-15C *severely* underperforms at altitude (specifically, between 38 - 50 000 ft).

  14. Well, i say it depends on the movie. Not all people visit the movie section, and once a black shark movie is released (i.e, my next one) people would want to see it and the movie should get as much attention as possible = better PR for ED. :)
