Up until now, I've been humored with an idea that I figured would be very unpopular simply because its different that the status quo. For all those who have humored me, thank you. However, I have been watching the clock and keeping time until I inevitably got a response like this. If there's one thing I can't stand, its people who think that discussing how something could be different is complaining. I'm not "complaining" and I don't have a "problem", thank you very much. I'm giving my relatively meaningless opinion on what I think would vastly improve multiplayer. Will it happen to LOMAC? No. DCS? Most likely no. You don't like me "complaining" about it? Then don't read it. I'm not twisting your arm, and I'm not violating any forum rules. Welcome to the internet, btw, where people like to talk about crap and everyone's got an opinion. ;) Oh, and what's this "It is what it is" stuff? Hogwash. If everyone said that, half the things that the community has added to LOMAC wouldn't even exist. That's a really short-sighted way to look at things. How is anyone supposed to have any vision of how things can improve in that mind-set? The only way things get better and improve is people bring them up and talk about them. Hell, if I had a dime for every time I brought up some change to a video game on a discussion forum all the while being jeered by others about it, and then...surprise, surprise, the next iteration of the game does exactly what I thought would work and others said was stupid and worthless, I'd be rich by now. Protip: I've been lurking and reading all sorts of internet boards, including all sorts of PC game boards, for years. I've practically done my own marketing research. I know what works and what doesn't, and I'm so confident of that I'm often tempted to raise the capital and give this developer stuff a shot myself sometimes. :) So, I'm afraid you'll have to excuse my ever-present drive to figure out how things tick and how they could be better. :D2 points

Just wondering how many of you think we would benefit from a forum dedicated to playing online, instead of the content regarding the Multiplayer aspect of Lockon being split between the General and Tracks, Missions and Campaigns forums. Personally I'd like to see one. I think it would make things easier for everyone, new guys and vets, if all announcements and info were in one place.1 point

Does anyone have any good high resolution pictures of the F-14 Tomcat? Ever since it retired, I thought a lot of people would take some good pictures of this bird in action, but I haven't seen any. I know of a couple sites that has some F-14 pictures such as http://www.news.navy.mil/view_galleries.asp http://www.anft.net/f-14/f14-photo.htm http://www.airliners.net/ Other than that, I haven't found any good pictures for a desktop wallpaper. Some pictures that I've been dying to have is the ones of www.planepix.com/ However, they only sell printed pictures and don't have any option to download high resolution such as these beautiful pictures Could anyone help me find some? Or send me some?1 point

Well, how many more UAV’s before Saakashvili figures out it is not working? He needs to try something else. How about talking to Abkhazans. UAV can be seen far, far away. In recent military use in Europe we saw UAV’s been shoot down in environment of 100 to 1 advantage. So, in my view, it is plain silly for Saakashvili to fly UAV’s in Abkhazia. BTW, I seriously doubt this UAV carried any A-A missiles. Also, the Abkhaz officer claims the SAM was used to shot the UAV down. What SAM system I wonder?1 point

Just thought I would share my pleasure with my forum friends. As some of you might know, I am conductor at the Montreal Symphony and we have a series of concerts in which we invite a personality to come, choose the program (with me) and we play the concert with this person there telling the audience why they choose Brahms or Mozart... Yesterday I was conducting such a concert and my guest was Canadian astronaut Julie Payette who is quite famous in Montreal. It was totally fascinating, both for the 2000+ audience AND the 100 musicians of the Symphony because the MC was asking her about her space shuttle experiences and she was describing everything in great details : quarantine, preparation, take-off (accelerating from 0 to 28000 km/h in 8 continuous minutes...), stopping the engines and experiencing their first free-fall-vomit-bags..., manipulating the cargo bay of the shuttle, the Canadian robotic arms, coupling with the space station, walking in space... Not only she is a hell of a smart lady (she has multiple degrees in various disciplines, she speaks 5 languages, she has 1000+ hours in the T-38 and she does deep-sea diving, she has 15 doctorate honoris causa from various universities AND she is an astronaut...), but also, she is quite beautiful. At some time in our preparatory Houston-Montreal communications I learned that she had played the flute at some point... Well, yesterday, I had her play a small piece along in the orchestra, with her good ol flute... The audience, (myself included, waiting on the podium...), was totally mesmerized by her tales. And of course we played, on top of Brahms and Mozart, some of the Star Wars score! After the concert, in my dressing room, we had a beer with her family and I met her husband... Guess what He does? He was a Canadian military F-18 before and now he is a test-pilot! He worked for a few years to develop the Eurofighter and now he is testing the F-16 Block 60 (I jumped out of my chair when he told me that!) and he will be shortly in the team of the F-35. Now THAT is what I call a special couple. I had an unforgetable night! Just wanted to share my excitement with you guys! JEFX1 point

Hey folks, i have a used X-45 USB HOTAS System wasting space in my living room. I willing to give it for free, including shipping world wide. I would like to give / send it to someone which maybe flies Lockon but can afford a joystick or has a old one without a Throttle unit. So if you feel like you or someone you know need some still good HOTAS - PM me. All i want in return is a picture of the person with the HOTAS :D Maybe someone can post it on the russian forums / translated. Groove out.1 point

As Goya said, set up some wind in the Weather Menu and Lockon will automatically swap the ILS to the other end of the runway. Be warned that for some of the airfields in the Caucasus, the swapped-around ILS will try to fly you into a hill. I won't tell you which ones, it will be more fun for you to find out yourself, LOL. Especially on a stormy night landing with low cloud and some bumpy turbulence ;) Sadly there is no way to force the ILS to land you at a secondary runway eg Sochi-Adler's 02/20. To land there in either direction, you'll have to do a visual approach. Respect to you for wanting to try instrument approaches from different directions and exploring what Lockon has to offer. Makes a change from kids whining after flying Lockon for a week - I want more flyables, I'm bored with the Black Sea map, etc. As for the junior / senior stuff, who cares? I'm sure it is based on how many posts. Personally I judge folks by the quality of their posts not the quantity. Rep seems to be a better measure of this. If someone regularly posts helpful and informative stuff, then they will get repped up by others....1 point

1) Take off. 2) Reach the highest altitude you can get to. 3) Head to those blips on RWR. 4) When in range, spam as much AMRAAM as possible in the general direction of enemy. 5) Turn back, and land with 4 happy kills. 6) Type "LOL" in the chatbox. 7) Repeat until you're sick of on-line deathmatch. 8 ) Join a squadron and experience the real thing.1 point
