Just a quick note to let folks know that I have uploaded a new tutorial to my site: F-15C: Radar Introduction and Long Range Search (LRS). This is an introduction to the F-15C's radar, the AN/APG-63. The goal of this training flight is to introduce you to the Vertical Situation Display (radar scope) and, using the Long Range Search (LRS) mode, to discuss the importance of understanding your scan volume: where it's pointing, and what it's doing. You will also learn to understand and interpret what you might see while in LRS mode. Targeting modes are not discussed. Nor will we be shooting anything down (boring, I know). All that will come in future tutorials. OTOH, I have finally found my way into the F-15's pit. You'll find the tutorial on the A2A page of my site. Enjoy. Rich1 point

No, they used camouflage nets to protect tanks, wet blankets to cool down hot guns and abandoned tactical targets all together. What use is human shielding if you want to stay hidden? What are you going to do when a tank "protected" whith HS gets hit in the middle of a forest? Call CNN and say "Hey, look, they're attacking mushroom pickers"? When you have seconds to pack up and change location last thing you would want is to have to drag someone along.1 point

I see the special ed finally put me on ignore too. GREAT! Where exactly is the hate? Lets replace (NATO) soldiers (the few who were captured) with (civilian) human shields. Every link I post here contains reference to human shields. http://www.cnn.com/WORLD/europe/9905/17/kosovo.03/ http://www.hrw.org/reports/2001/kosovo/ http://www.telegraph.co.uk/htmlContent.jhtml?html=/archive/1999/05/17/wkos17.html http://www.webwm.com/kosovo/h/gen.htm http://wearcam.org/envirotech/identity_cleansing.htm http://www.kosovo.net/sk/news/news0105.html http://cgi.cnn.com/WORLD/europe/9905/02/kosovo.02/ http://archive.newsmax.com/articles/?a=2000/2/7/30418 http://hrw.org/worldreport99/europe/yugoslavia.html And thats just for starters.1 point

Oh yeah? So how many NATO soldiers were captured? 3000 or 4000 or 5000? NATO claimed none of their soldiers step foot in Yugoslavian territory? You got your mind seriously confused with some other incidents with UN Peace Keeping forces in Bosnia and Hercegovina and Republika Srpska. Get your facts right, do your homework before making such inaccurate statements.1 point

Notice. This mission will be retro-style: 1) Restrict all modern AAMs - AIM-120, R-27ER, R-27ET. This leaves AIM-7, R-27R, R-27T, AIM-9, R-73, R-60. All engagement with these rockets goes in visual range, and gives a lot of fun 2) Restrict Su-25T, Su-33 and Mig-29S 3) Restrict all guided AG weapons - this should balance out 25A and A-10. 4) As there will be no options for SEAD - all air defences will be Shilkas, Vulcans and a few low-skill Iglas and Stingers. Please note this when requesting plane slots.1 point

SAM's only worked because they were human-shielded with captured NATO soldiers. Thoughtfully left that part out, didnt you.1 point

Heh - all the ones that are "multirole" ;) . The first such Flanker version was the Su-35(Su-27M), then came the Su-30MK multirole export article which has been produced in varies variants tailored for specific countries(Su-30MKI, Su-30MKK, Su-30MKM etc). Most recently the Russian airforce has upgraded some of its baseline Su-27S and Su-27UBs to Su-27SM and Su-27UBM respectively - providing them with the ability to deploy guided air-to-ground munitions. Finally the first mentioned Su-35(from late eighties) has been "revisited" in a new version destined to enter service with the Russian airforce. The first multirole Fulcrum variants were the MiG-29M(9-15) and the naval variant of this the MiG-29K(9-31) from late eighties. The first multirole upgrade for the baseline MiG-29 was the MiG-29SM(9-13M) followed by the further upgraded MiG-29SMT(9-17). Currently MIG is offering new versions of the MiG-29K(9-41 and two seat variant 9-47) and MiG-29M(MiG-29M2 and MiG-35 two seat variants) plus a new version of the MiG-29SMT upgrade(SMT-2). That should just about cover it, but there are other more subtle MiG-29 upgrades that also includes PGM capability such as the Belorussian MiG-29BM to take an example.1 point

Are we going to have to take a poll to stop cool_t from taking so many polls? ;) Out1 point

It's a big gun which requires a lot of recoil compensation. That's all there is to it.1 point

Country was not lost, see United Nations resolution 1244 and Kumanovo agreement. And SAM’s did the job! Military AND the country was preserved. NATO’s decision to bomb “infrastructure” is just another proof that SAM’s worked. Why would civilians “cry uncle” if military infrastructure is bombed? Please be more specific.1 point

Server update. Today the server software crashed for the first time online. immediately we tried to reproduce the error offline. The first attempt was successful. A bug was then found in an untested part of the newly added stats logging module. The bug was fixed and tested OK. Downtime was 20 minutes.1 point
