Don't get me wrong, I would love it if everything was 100% realistic. I am a pilot in Real Life after all. It's just, there are other, more healthy alternatives different from arguing and throwing insults at each other based on topics that we as a community can't change by ourselves. So what I was saying was basically, ED will fix what they can, for the things that they can't/won't fix, people will have to find ways to adapt and live with them. Would I like to see Blue missiles & avionics get improved? Would I like to see more realistic flight modeling for the aircraft? Would I like to see the AI, physics, and environment get improved? Yes, yes, yes, but on the other hand, I would be happy with the same quality product that has been and will continue to be Lock On - Modern Air Combat. ED has done a wonderful job already, and although there could always be improvements (true for any product), I am happy with what we have now, and thankful that ED has such a dedicated development team, and such a passionate community to support it.6 points

I flew the new 2010 demo today with some upgraded maneuvers over the 2008 display. My team mate Sawamura visited my house and brought his new camera and so we recorded the flight from the desk. We plan to make a new video from this demo in the same style as the so called "Frazer Demo", created by EvilBivol-1. For now, enjoy the track. :) Frazer Demo 2.trk1 point

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross." The English have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies all but ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to a "Bloody Nuisance." The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was during the great fire of 1666. The Scots raised their threat level from "Pissed Off" to "Let's get the Bastards" They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the frontline in the British army for the last 300 years. The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide". The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender." The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France 's white flag factory, effectively paralysing the country's military capability. It's not only the French who are on a heightened level of alert. Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout loudly and excitedly" to "Elaborate Military Posturing." Two more levels remain: "Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides." The Germans also increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs." They also have two higher levels: "Invade a Neighbour" and "Lose". Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual, and the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels . The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy. Americans meanwhile are carrying out pre-emptive strikes, on all of their allies, just in case. And at a local level... New Zealand has also raised its security levels - from "baaa" to "BAAAA!". Due to continuing defense cutbacks (the airforce being a squadron of spotty teenagers flying paper aeroplanes and the navy some toy boats in the Prime Minister's bath), New Zealand only has one more level of escalation, which is "Shit, I hope Australia will come and rescue us". In the event of invasion, New Zealanders will be asked to gather together in a strategic defensive position called "Bondi". Australia , meanwhile, has raised its security level from "No worries" to "She'll be right, mate". Three more escalation levels remain, "Crikey!', "I think we'll need to cancel the barbie this weekend" and "The barbie is cancelled". So far no situation has ever warranted use of the final escalation level .1 point

Thank god there will be no whining and moaning AFTER 2.0 is released because EVERYBODY KNOWS there will be no further patching.1 point

In real life, I would suspect that any helos that went out without fighter protection (sweep, escort, TARCAP, etc.) would be sitting ducks as soon as they were spotted by enemy fighters, with or without RWRs and A2A missiles. Practice safe CAS - fly with protection!1 point

Formation thread :) Just 10 min ago I was in a beautifull formation with Skunk and 2 others (I cant remember their names, sorry...). So, I thought I would share a couple of pic's of that. They aren't very good, since I dont have a formation profile on my x52 (with print screen mapped op it :P), so keep that in mind. Perhaps this could be a thread where you can share and view other formations and talk about formations :) Admins: what do you think about this? :):pilotfly: (or has such a thread existed before...:joystick:) Greetings, MTFDarkEagle1 point

I don't think that so many peoples understand what Zeljava is trying to say in his first post.Generaly opinion for lockon is that F-15 have little bit more arcade flight model in compare with flanker's flight model . I remember the time when i was still learning how to fly and safely land in mig and flanker, it was wery frustrating.:) In time when i could not performe not an single good landing in russian's planes in lomac i decide to try the same with F-15. In my very first meeting with eagle i manage to performe soft landing in some little village on short road?! Yes, F-15 have "fly by wire" system but can that system make noob to land in souch extreme condittions ? I don't think soo... And what if this thread was about frogfoot vs A-10 dogfight? On one side we have GREAT advanced flight model and on other side , i don't know, arcade flight model maybe???Will you still call Zeljava dogfighter with not enough skill? How much skill you need to enter in close range fight in su-25 and how much in A-10(in lomac)?. P.S. I'm reading this thread and i'm very shure now, some pilots playin LockOn to enjoy in flying but some live only for kill, kill and nothing more...That is very sad...(very nice signature Pilotasso). Sry for my creapy englysh but i think you got the point.:) S!1 point

Then, I assume, it is my turn to ask a question :) I am no master at difficult riddles (this crown goes to topol-m), so the question will be simple: Name the aircraft1 point

As a relative newbie, I have trouble getting a radar lock on low flying helos, (500ft – ish), on my F-15 radar, even when depressed to the lowest elevation. As an experiment I fly the “instant action” F-15 mission, deal with all the jets, then hunt the helo, (there is one bumbling about). Unless am doing this wrong, I have to locate visually, (labels on), dive and use bore sight or lift vector radar mode, (whatever LOMAC calls it), to get a lock. Even then, I am at very close range and might as well go IR. As a side note, though it would be nice to have full compatibility between FC2, BS and the new modules, I am not going to throw my toys out of the pram if they aren’t totally seamless. After all, it’s not as though the shelves are bulging with quality flight sims ATM. Apart from Maddox and a few others, ED is about it. There is also the software development time required to maintain backwards compatibility with previous iterations of the engine, as more new stuff is grafted on, etc. (this trips Microsoft up!), so, support them, don’t expect the world on a plate, and have fun!1 point

No, mast bumping is only possible on helicopters with a teetering rotor head. That is, a rotor with no flapping hinges and only two blades that are not allowed to flap independently. On a teetering rotor head, when one blade flaps up, the other is forced to flap down, since there is no hinge between the two sides. On the Ka-50, the blades flap independently, so mast bumping is not possible.1 point

I have just finished reading this thread and have found most of the discussion to be very funny, especially around the middle. Thank you all for the good laugh :) As a pilot of primarily Eagles, I have found most of the problems with the AIM-120's "super powers" to be the fault of poor piloting skills. 90% of the shots I make against targets are from +5-10 miles above the minimum firing range of the missile. What ends up happening normally is that the pilot thinks he has successfully dodged a missile that is in fact still burning towards him; and 10 seconds later... *splash*. Yes I have come to believe that the AIM-120's are underpowered, but I see it as a challenge, a learning experience, and that when confronted with difficulties, the best thing to do is not whine and complain about them, but to develop tactics in an attempt to counter adverse conditions. Turn a weakness into strength and not only have you managed to confuse your enemy, but you might live to tell about it too.1 point

I hate that movie, "Fighter Pilot Operation Red Flag" could have been so interesting, yet they made it so horribly lame. I think "Speed and Angels" is so much better, even PBS did a better job that "Operation Red Flag" with their series "Carrier" just my 2 cents So many inaccuracies, is like watching "Iron Eagle"1 point

Lets hope for all missiles to get more accurate then they are now and continue to whine after the F2.0 when we find new problems. This will never end. No one can even prove who would come out alive from a clash between 4xFlankers vs 4xF-15s, My guise would be F-15s, not because of the technology but because of more training behind thire back. Its therefore 51st gets out almost always as winners in 4vs4 or more against F-15s even if the F-15 is clearly superior in most points in lomac. Remember that no missiles fixes will make ur game more realistic, This patch will only make it harder for those who are not used to guide their missiles. This game is not a test platform for realistic missiles behavior this game is made for A2A combat. Instead of spending ur time on proving things to each other you should train whit at least 4 buddies to get some teamwork going. And when you feel ready, Challenge 51st at 51st.org. Dont blame the missiles if you cant score a kill, Killing a bandit is about fooling him or lurk him in a trap, this is how u kill bandits whit as good technology as you.1 point

I forgot - there is an article on Sim HQ on comaparison performance tests involving single vs dual core processors. The testing "platform" was Flacon 4.0 Allied Force which takes advantage of two cores (is designed to do so). http://www.simhq.com/_technology/technology_060b.html1 point
