  1. Hey Guys, I created my second guide for this Community. It´s a laser Guided Bomb Tutorial. As you know it from my Start up Tutorials so again I used pictures to make the process more understandable. This Tutorial is in first ment for all those who are new to DCS A10 or still have problems with the GBU´s as I still have with JDAM and GPS targeting. This is the very first Version, further ones are planed. So better pictures and may be some fixed errors will be part of the next Version. For now have fun with this. Download regards MemphisBelle EDIT: First Error noticed and Fixed in step 1 it´s not DMS up long but TMS up long

  2. *****LESSON 6 - LASER GUIDED BOMBS - GBU10 & GBU12***** Hi all, There seems to be a fair amount of confusion on how to employ LGB's in the Sim. Matt Wagner produced an excellent video going through step by step what is required. This post is an 'extract' from the 74th vfs 'The Flying Tigers' Engagement School, Lesson 6. It accompany's Matts video and also calls reference to some further reading and Geskes own video for those of you who would like more. We hope it is of some help. On behalf of all the 74th vfs 'The Flying Tigers' 'T' GENERAL INFO: Laser Guided Bombs or LGB's are an excellent and accurate system of engaging ground Targets. The GBU 12 (a Mk 82 500lb bomb with laser seeker attachment) and the GBU 10 (a Mk 84 2000lb bomb with laser seeker attachment) once dropped from the pylon, home in on a laser that is fired automatically or manually by the pilot, from the Lightning II 'Sniper' Targetting Pod. It is important that the pilot maintain a steady flight until the Target is destroyed to ensure that the Laser is not masked by the airframe of the A-10C. This, is it's only limitation. Accuracy is it's greatest strength. In comparison to any of the GPS guided or inertially guided Bomb units, it is possible to place a GBU 10 or 12 through a window, making the GBU 12 a perfect 'Tank Plinker' in a top attack, and the A-10C can carry 14 of them! The GBU 10 being 4 times bigger, ideal for attacking structures. The method of delivery is via CCRP in the 5 mill or 3/9 method and it is important that the weapons release button is held down approximately 10 seconds before the solution cue passes through the reticule, to avoid a 'Hung Station' When this happens, the bomb is released automatically and depending on Laser setup, will home in immediatly or after a pre-set time. LESSON INFO: Auto Lase: * Master Arm to On * TGP on and aquire Tgt using the same method as explained in Lesson 3 * Laser Arm to on * Make the Tgt the SPI * Select the DSMS, then profile and select the GBU * Activate the profile, View it, change to CCRP and then change the 'auto lase' to on * Set the desired Laser time (15-17 seconds at 15,000 ft) to activate before impact * Save the settings * Master mode should be on CCRP. Hud should be in CCRP Mode * If neccessary, 'EXTEND' away to gain altitude and distance * Align to Target at desired altitude - 15000 ft is a good height, 25000 to avoid TOR's * Keep the aircraft steady and use the ASL (Azimuth Steering Line) to guide your bank angle to level flight * Maintain a level flight toward the Tgt * Await the 'solution cue' to reach 10 seconds then press and hold the weapons release button * Weapons release button depressed, throught 'solution cue drop' through reticule * Note the Bomb release by absence on DSMS or 'clunk' sound of release * Maintain level and steady flight * Watch the TGP and note the flashing 'L', meaning the Laser is being fired when the Bomb is short of the target in 'time', as specified for the Laser to fire * Once the Tgt is destroyed, re-quire a new Tgt and repeat Manual Lase: * Master Arm to On * TGP on and aquire Tgt using the same method as explained in Lesson 3 * Laser Arm to On * Make the Tgt the SPI * Select the DSMS, then profile and select the GBU * Activate the profile, View it, change to CCRP and ensure 'auto lase' is off * Set the desired Laser time (15-17 seconds at 15,000 ft) * Save the settings * Master mode should be on CCRP. Hud should be in CCRP Mode * On the TGP MFCD select the 'Cntrl' Page and change to 'Latch on' * If neccessary, 'EXTEND' away to gain altitude and distance * Align to Target at desired altitude - 15000 ft is a good height, 25000 to avoid TOR's * Keep the aircraft steady and use the ASL (Azimuth Steering Line) to guide your bank angle to level flight * Maintain a level flight toward the Tgt * Await the 'solution cue' to reach 10 seconds then press and hold the weapons release button * Weapons release button depressed, throught 'solution cue drop' through reticule * Note the Bomb release by absence on DSMS or 'clunk' sound of release * Maintain level and steady flight * Note the Time to Impact timer on the TGP MFCD, at 15 seconds to impact (or whatever time you have set) activate the Laser by pressing NWS -INSERT Key * Watch the TGP and note the flashing 'L', meaning the Laser is being fired * Once the Tgt is destroyed, re-quire a new Tgt and repeat Now watch the following video Laser Guided Bombs - GBU12 FURTHER LEARNING: Visit & study the following resource pages: * DCS Wiki CCRP * Paveway II site * LGB Ordanance Site * MemphisBelles Step by Step http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=75781 This excellent video by 'Geskes' may also be of assistance:

  3. Thank goodness I bought the download version and not the steam version of A10C. My steam account has been stolen by hackers, it appears many people have had this happen. Even though I have submitted a support ticket to steam who knows how long it will take to fix this and in the mean time I can not play any of my steam games. But I can still fly my A10 :pilotfly::joystick::):):):) My advice from experience now is stay away from steam, even with steam guard they can still steal all your games on the steam network.

  4. Just some random shots from a few different flights. I really liked the mood that the weather created - nice early morning mist hanging along the coast... I threw in some AAR action as well. Just my own little tribute to the guys at ED for creating this masterpiece! Enjoy!

  5. I found something the other day, or at least I think I did: I had set up a mission to over-fly the highest peaks on the map. I had also set the winds aloft to be a strong tail-wind as I wanted a large ground speed during my decent. Anyway, after passing the highest terrain and in the midst of a high-speed decent, I was suddenly being tossed around for a few seconds. Could it be this simulation models the turbulence one would expect to find on the lee-side of a mountain range with high-speed winds aloft? No way! But there was something there... ED, you rule. Even if it wasn't really there (no, I wasn't drinking or otherwise impaired) the fidelity leaves you with a big grin on your melon. :D

  9. Over the last few days I tore apart the Thrustmaster Warthog throttle and started modifying my real A-10A grip to a C model grip using a combination of TM and real parts. I had originally tried just taking and modifying the entire Warthog right grip to work on the throttle arm, but this was proving to be difficult so I went the other way and adapted the TM parts to the real grip. I removed the entire face of the A model grip and opened up the interior to allow the TM side panel to be fitted. They aligned up quite well actually and with some filler and sanding and a coat of paint things should close up nicely. The speed brake and china hat switches have been replaced by real aircraft switches and I desoldered the board in the grip and will mount it elsewhere, either in the base of the throttle itself, or externally with the rest of the Warthog control cards. 11. I'm not a Steam fan either. I bought Cliffs Of Dover through Steam and i just don't like the way i have access to "my" game. I'm happy that i could get my coppy of A-10C the normal way.

  12. I hope so too :) I'll remake Il-76 to A-50 and then to IL-78M. But I can start only after summer:noexpression:

  13. It's my pleasure if you like this :) And about textures.... I think that textures must be dirty too, but my painting skills is too bad to paint better than it is now. You have a template, so if you want you can do it more realistic :) IL-76MD Template Yours faithfully from Russia

  14. The foam in the tank would take care of sloshing. Constant trim changes are due to constant airspeed changes. Venting fuel tanks in aircraft is a real pain in the neck. You don't want negative pressure on the tank because it would crumple like a can. That's bad. It's extremely bad if the crumpled skin also happens to be the wing or fuselage skin like in most civilian aircraft. Positioning the vent tubes so they work in the entire range of normal flight as well as ground attitudes is difficult, trying to get them to also vent in negative or zero g would be close to impossible. They also must be run so liquid fuel in the line won't block the venting for long. That is why there is a vent tank on the A10 so any fuel accumulated in the vent tubes can be drained back into the wing fuel tanks. Take a look at the fuel system diagram http://www.dcswiki.com/index.php?title=Fuel_system_(A-10)#Description. Given that the vent tank is the left (aft) fuseluge tank I would bet the the tank overboard is in the center of the aircraft were the liquid came out during the airshow manuever.
