  1. ...I did a cold startup, took-off, contacted JTAC to receive attack coordinates, setup my SPI using my TAD, prepared all weapon systems for attack, navigated to attack point, blew up the tanks, used the divert page in the CDU to find my base airfield, and landed! Wow, that is a lot of stuff I had to learn how to do over the course of the last 3-4 months! But damn, is it rewarding! A word of encouragement to those just starting this sim and feeling daunted - hang in there. What helped me learn this sim was to think about it in steps. I spent one weekend just figuring out JTAC and weapon systems for example while, another weekend, I worked on my landing. Then, it all started to come together. This is also my first real flight simulator so hopefully other simulators I play like ROF will not require such a tremendously long time to learn. Just wanted to share. No one in my RL can relate to how much of an accomplishment it is to overcome the learning curve of this sim!

  3. Hey guys. My application to my companies permanent boards was successful (no more 12 month contracts) so, I have confidence to spend a small part of the money I have been saving the past 4 and a half years. Also Im selling my current rig to a friend which will cut back on the spending spree below :D My PC spot is in the atic of a house so, the air is warmer, in August may come to 40ºC . So I wanted to design this thing to be tough but without going overboard with price, and that ruled out sophisticated water cooling Im afraid. The compromise is the following: CPU: CORE i5 2500K 3.30GHZ 6MB CACHE 1155 --- Born to be overclocked! Cooler: CORSAIR HYDRO SERIES H60 CASE: COOLERMASTER HAF-X (KKN1) --- Butt ugly but there is no real alternative here RAM: 8GB GSKILL RIPJAW X DDR3 1600MHZ (7-8-7-24) (2x4GB) MOTHERBOARD: MSI P67A - GD65 (B3) SOCKET 1155 REV 3 GFX: GIGABYTE GTX570 1280MB GDDR5 PCIe - GV-N570OC-13I --- Note the giant cooler! primary drive: INTEL SSD 510 SERIES 250GB SATA 3 or OCZ Vertex 3 240GB I left the shop to get the later if possible data drive: WESTERN DIGITAL GREEN 3TB SATA II (WD30EZRSDTL) PSU: CORSAIR TX-750W V2 SINGLE RAIL Grand total 1870€ what you guys think?? :D

  4. When you get a near miss from a SAM do you feel like the game physics and or cockpit camera do it justice? [i'm not talking about the SAM hits that send you plummeting to the ground here] I feel like the explosions which happen near your cockpit should buffet the plane about more. I'd love to see camera shake and whatever else the ED designers can dream up become implemented to reflect this. I'm sure it's realistic how it is - but for a bit of added drama it'd be nice. You guys agree or happy how it is?

  6. Try switching the yardstick in your TGP to feet, that helps me quite a bit when determining ripple spacing and HOF for clusters To switch the yardstick to feet, open TGP control page, click the OSB next to metric (it should now read U.S.), and use your zoom commands to space your yardstick properly (remember, it's only the right side of your crosshair!). Also worth noting that your aspect must be correct for a reliable measurement

  7. Someone has pointed this out and asked for it before but in the 1.0.1 topic so maybe it has passed mods attention. It's all good now  But IMO the download pages should link to that topic as well.

  8. Hi Panzer! I know the main site is not maintained by mods so could you at least shoot down the 1.0.1 sticky and stick the 1.0.2 instead?

  10. In standard helicopters, yawing the aircraft is initiated by increasing/decreasing the angle of attack of the, tail rotor blades, via the rudder pedals, how are we achieving this in the KA-50, thanks in advance.

  11. Here's mine. All information from the manual, with some holes plugged from globalsecurity, so I'm sure it will contain some inaccuracies and errors. Please everyone shout out and tell me how I can make it better/more accurate.

  16. I made this chart for myself and the 74th from extensive ingame testing, not the encyclopaedia since that's largely inaccurate. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ABD63HAH http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ABD63HAH

  17. Well done! Check out the RAT (RECORD AVI Tool) then! RAT will blow your mind It will open new horizons for you when it comes to video recording! Not to mention the whole topic is a valuable resource on basic video editing. Again - RAT will blow your mind AFAIR Kdenlive asks for automatic packages installation on first startup. Really convenient. I have no experience with Kdenlive+FRAPS. I think it's a good idea to sign up to Kdenlive forums if one is planning on using Kdenlive. Here's a rather comprehensive guide on resizing and cropping videos by yours truly http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1135123#post1135123 You should try Lagarith http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1136928.html Doesn't Kdenlive have an automatic session restoration same as Blender? Same for me. I'm not sure which input/output formats combinations are affected but this is a really serious bug. We need to hit Kdenlive forums. Indeed. Thanks for sharing your initial experience. Initial guidelines are what's most important to newcomers.
