  1. Dummies Guide for the “MonitorSetup.lua“ and placing/positioning different view-ports 1.0.X It's 16 pages and should cover all aspects for a successfully Multi-monitor set-up. The first two pages: This is version1.0.X - I will probably change some things. Please let me know if everything is logical correct and if you found some bad typos/grammar. I only read it three-times up to now. And I was writing it all today. So please give me a slag if everything is not absolute top-notch up-to now. And some things are still missing.:P File: Dummies Guide for the “MonitorSetup.lua“1.0.2.pdf.zip Size: 1.54 Mb [download] This pre-sets will switch on the export of avionics to dedicated view-ports - just by simple copy'n'paste. And will remove any conflicts between A10C and Ka-50 >>> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1541311#post1541311 ...and there is no need to set your left screen as Main in a 'windowd' setup if you don't want to. Use the 'Phantommonitorfix' to align the DCS simulation screen in your Top-Left corner of your whole desktop - even if your left monitor isn't the main-screen. Tip - place the exe or a shortcut of this skript it in your startup folder , C:\Users\>User Name<\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup to lower your workload . So it is loaded when your system boots and you don't have to manually start it any more. - It uses no measurable recurrences and only gets active when DCS.exe is loaded.

  2. There are many skinners pondering the new SPEC in the DCS World series....Including myself. Through my trial and errors, I'll post what I find, and try to keep this simple. I encourage those with knowledge to share the wealth. :book: When you look at the OEM SPEC *.dds files of the P-51D 'Bare Metal' skin, you notice the files use greenish and magneta colors to distinguish from flat & matte, to reflections. From a beginners stand-point, "The greener it is, the more matte it is; The more magneta it is, the shinier & more reflective it is." But there's more to it! See attachment 1 For the most part, to achieve the colors that you see in the files, you have to adjust R(ED), G(REEN), B(LUE) values of each layer you create or want to have specular. "To be honest, I couldn't replicate the colors manually." But you can also use gray scale colors where black is matte, and white is shiny. If you had noticed, the official P-51D template has a SPEC group that nearly mimics the DIF group. Delete the SPEC group that's in the template and duplicate the DIF group. Within the duplicated group, add an Adjustable Layer at the top of the group. Now slide the Saturation Bar all the way to the left. See attachment 2 In attachment 2, you see that the skin has a lot of light grey colors. If you're making a metal skin, it's ok. But we need a dull coat on this Desert Rat. * Begin by creating a new layer and giving it a very dark gray color. Now hide all the layers except the Color group. See attachment 3 For peace of mind; doing this unclutters the workspace and allows you to know what you have worked on already. The next part is pretty much up to you adjusting the layers. Keep in mind the layers properties you used in the DIF group copied over. Adjust as nessecary to achieve your look. * See my next "help" post about finding the right metal colors for reflections.

  3. Ok so here is my two bits. Between working and other stuff I get little time to fly but what I've learned so far... This is the single most important instrument you have. Everything you do in this aircraft that comes down to life or death depends on how you control the ball. It matters in takeoff, it matters in landing, it matters immensely in dog-fighting. It affects which way your bombs drop and which direction your bullets fly and careful use lowers the speed at which tight turns turn into flailing stalls. This is why they call it "stick & rudder" With that being said first I'll cover the settings. I enjoy about 2-3 degrees right rudder trim. If your using hats for trim and ailerons (which you should be) set two clicks right roll and two clicks down or nose heavy. No flaps, no tanks, no bombs, full fuel. These settings will be different for a non-clean configuration and you'll have to experiment. Now for the takeoff roll... No brakes, pull the stick back to hold course on start. Advance the throttle to 45-46 manifold Hg. As it crosses about 30 Hg you'll need to add some right rudder to compensate initial torque pull. Dont trim, its all in the hands and feet now. Now you need to have your trackir or view zoomed way out. With your peripheral watch the sides of the runway and verify your roughly centered. Your primary focus will be on that little ball. Keep it centered and use gentle but calculated input, it requires a lot of practice. Once your rolling and your cruising, anything above walking speed you can let go of the stick. If you can manage to keep that ball centered and keep her straight on the runway she'll haul ass. Once the tail comes up around 60 she'll begin to go nuts. At this point keep your focus hat on because this is the part where keeping that ball centered is life or death. It is the very moment the tail comes up that she goes nuts. When the tail is coming up its crossing prop wash and torque and it needs a lot of rudder to overcome, but once the tail is up at the top it will only require little and steady input. Once her tail is up and that ball is centered your walking on sunshine. She'll stay straight and you can keep the wheels on the deck as long as you want. Once its steady you'll be able to focus on speed and chances are you'll already be going fast enough to lift off. I like to hold her down til about 130-150 just for kicks. In conclusion, knowing what the BAI does and how to use it is the difference between life and death in this game. Learn it, use it, love it. You'll find if you can keep her centered at all times that your turns will be much tighter, your control will be more exact and your opponents will be a lil dead'r. Changing your loadout will require you to change your initial trim settings so do a lot of practice clean till you get a feel for what you need heading down the street. Good luck!

  8. Mh. Everything works fine for me. I'll just try to give quick tips: Correct frequencies? Are you using the UHF radio to talk to your wingmen? Thats all I can think of. It's not really my job to explain how the radio system works, go into other forums for that. :)

  10. As it is with many things out there, old school guys must have some real good patience-ability regarding everything complex while the market gets overflooded with arcade. Nobody hearing, nobody seeing, nobody caring but everyone destroying many game series with mainstream bs. Waiting for like 6-14 years for something nice to come out is not nice so I will mention what misses especially since over a decade everytime I can. It's my holy duty that great things will not be forgotten in times of the arcade half-brained mess. ;) As a "missing dynamic campaign" doesn't count as an achievement, I think it rather is. In the end of this year, it will be 14 years! The Falcon 4.0 dev's deserved a statue.

  12. Hello Scorch, 1) Can I use output #2 from my existing ATI 4870 Crossfire setup, or must I get another PCI ATI card for the two MFCD monitors? Yes - just use the second output. Another card will only be needed if you use more than two monitors and you haven't out-puts at you primary card. 2) How can I determine the values for the "LMFCD+Camera+RMFCD.lua" file? This is a very complex theme - but you are lucky! I have just started to write a PDF that covers all this aspects. :PBut as I said "just started" (two hours ago and filled already 4pages - and some more to come) I would like to hand you out to this thread in the meantime:Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial) Or be a little patient and wait for my PDF... 3) What other considerations are there I have not mentioned? Many, many - this is also a very complex theme I could fill a book with! You will maybe experience some design flaws when utilising more than one monitor , so please read this: A Plea for View-Export/Multi-head/TH Users. Please go through all points and keep special attention to the solutions/workarounds links I have posted for each problem. This will help you with the most common problems you may encounter. 4) What other advice can you offer? ...You talked about utilising SoftTH to be able to run different sized screens in Full screen. Please browse through this thread to see what all you have to take into consideration, ....SoftTH NEWS So long- let me finish now the PDF and I will (hopefully ) post it in the next couple of hours. And I' sure (I hope) others will jump in and post their solutions for you.

  15. Yes, good documentary. In respect to the wife, and while I don't understand Russian, I can imagine the usual women drama: making discussion only for the joy of the truce. Ah, healthy misogyny :D

  18. there are 2 time fields in the mission editor. the mission start time is the time in the briefing page when the mission will start. Yes it is the time of day (day/nacht) the start field on each unit is the time at which the unit will appear/disappear during the course of the mission, as well as the ETA to reach a specific waypoint or steerpoint under given speed and altitude parameters (air units), or speed (land/sea units). Let's take an example. You want to set time of day to 13:15. You set 2 aircrafts to be landing around 13:20. If you set your aircraft waypoint 0 as ramp start, at 13:18, in 2 mins, you'll see those aircrafts landing at your airfield (provided not too much wind or physics)

  20. @213. Right now, you or I can do some artwork and get a player driven mod of say a F-14 and upload it to the forum. Might be rubbish but you can. It's an over simplification to say the multiplayer viewport is where to start but that is what is missing for two players. Give me that and i can stick a bitmap of a Van Gogh in and put Hawgtouch on the flowers and yet its still a pretty two player backseat. From that point the feasibility is there at least, 3rd party mods can get fired in, make models and artwork and change config files etc. Oversimplified, but that's the difference between the capability to do it and just dreaming. Unfortunately without that capability there is only one thing a forum post like this can achieve and that's "Raising the wishlist profile". The 360 approaches i was referring to are in relation to the comments about 1. AI simplification. Apparently it is enough to issue commands based on a menu system. I'm sorry i'm not buying that. If I was a back seat driver and only had 10 commands to give a pilot...or maybe a nested 50....well not going there. Even with VAC. Same goes for a Weapons officer. Reliably telling the backseat AI to fire on something isn't manageable via menu without making them autonomous. Making AI autonomous for flying a player model results in a lot of problems and crashes, for anything in charge of weapons, you consider problems with AI being too fast and seeing too far, or being too dumb and artificially stupid. Humans are special :P 2. Dual control. Not entirely sure but in a car at least they move together so two people fight for the control. You cannot model this well because two people fight for controls would confusing. A switching method is also tricky since someone has to be in charge. If someone is in charge they have a fixed role they may not surrender. If someone has a fixed role its not dual control. 3. Marketing and profitability. I'm trying to represent the people that haven't posted here, haven't expressed interest, aren't doing multiplayer and will not make a purchase of something that needed multiplayer only. It's not my money but at least the development time over months to produce something for even less people should be considered. I'm fully up for open source development. We have the tools, the app is quite open, but if it was easy to do everyone would be doing it. If the framework was available though then the more layman among us could start. I'd like to say that although I might be drawing attention to some negative aspects, it's in order to avoid them because all development in this genre suits everyone, even myself who doesn't have a use for it. I reckon this is a fantastic idea to pursue. At everyone talking about having fun in say Arma/BF2/3, etc, remember it is a small minigame to hop into a departing chopper ...remember you never go where you want and often you look at the pilots seat and see his legs disappearing out the door! Its a small niche of buddy pairs that camp the chopper spawn points. I've not gone very far round the 360 degrees circle but FWIW I reckon if you could get ED to give some of us LUA coders some pointers, then, a third party, free, community driven, two player ONLY, no AI, MOD... has the strongest chance of fruition. It will circumvent some of the more tricky issues at least. "My main worry is mostly that we'll never see another helicopter again..." Mine too...love em.

  21. Fun is subjective, but you can't deny that plenty of people who HAVE thought this through--or experienced this in the past via other games and simulators--think it would be fun. There are already games which offer two-seat aircraft. It can be a lot of fun to operate a helicopter with another player in games like Battlefield 3 and ArmA II. Unfortunately those are terrible as flight "simulators," but the potential is undeniably there for both helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. My main worry is mostly that we'll never see another helicopter again...
