  1. :megalol: Depends on what the next aircraft is... :D
  2. Awesome! Thanks!!
  3. Anyone know what the angle of the front dash is? From images, it definitely appears to angle away from the pilot a few degrees, but I can't determine the amount from any of the images I've seen. Thanks!
  4. Nope, not using any software other than HELIOS and the EMC utility at this point. I made them. :D
  5. Thanks!! :D I hope to shoot a better video of it later so that it's easier to see the text on the display. Shot this with my phone and it was hard to hold it steady and press the UFC buttons to change the screens.
  6. Thanks guys! :) First let me clarify one thing. In the first post I used the term "export" and I am not sure if that is technically accurate. I am using the EMC (Easy Monitor Configurator) tool from Icemaker to display the CDU data on that screen. Sorry if I caused any confusion. Here's the thread on the EMC - http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=71831 For the hardware, I am using a 5" LCD I picked up from Ebay a year ago for a different project. Never used it, so I decided to try it in the CDU and see how it works. Pretty pleased with it, although I am hoping I can work out a way to bring the graphics closer to the face plate. Going to try a fresnel magnifying lens first. I have three monitors running - two 1920x1080 and the smaller one at 768x1024. So my resolution in DCS is set to 1920x3184. Pretty simple. I'll take a few photos to show how the monitor is attached and show the entire setup a little better. Still a WIP, but unless I run into any problems with the switches for the buttons, I don't expect it to change much. The only software I am using is the EMC I already mentioned.
  7. Oh yeah... forgot to say thanks to everyone who provided the information/code/utilities that allows us to export this!!
  8. Quick video of my CDU with the display in place. It looks great(which the video doesn't show well :)) but the only problem I need to solve is that I need to look almost straight down on top of it to see everything. This is due to the screen being a little more than 1/2" below the surface of the CDU face plate. I hope that I can use a fresnel lens or some other trick to "lift" the text up to just below the face plate. Oh.... I've not installed the switches for the panel yet... they're on order. That's why the buttons are flush with the panel and I'm not pressing them. :D
  9. Awesome work! Appreciate your time on these!!
  10. If it is hardware, I think it would have to be the camera. Maybe a sensor is not at the right angle? Just guessing obviously. Have you tried contacting Naturalpoint support?
  11. Hi, Looks like you're using the Trackclip - that right? Where is the TrackIR in relation to the Trackclip? Placement is important. Here's what the FAQ states... Check out the Quick Start Guide as well: http://media.naturalpoint.com/files/print/trackir/qsg-trackir5-201106.pdf If it's setup correctly and it's still behaving that way, there might be a hardware issue.
  12. Not at all. I would say it actually feels more natural this way.
  13. Very nice!!:thumbup: What are you using for the MFD monitors?
  14. Thanks! :) Yep, just rotated the entire mount about 10-12 degrees. Feels pretty good so far, but I may decide to rotate it a few more degrees after I've spent more time flying.
  15. That's my thought too, just need to find something that will work well.
  16. Thanks for the links! I wish I had the room to build one of those and keep my playseat, but there's only enough room for one... so the playseat will have to do for now. Maybe one day when I am in a bigger house with a dedicated "man cave" I can have both! :D
  17. Thanks Gus! :D I have to say the work I was able to do this weekend really re-energized my "pit project" batteries.
  18. What does that make me then?? :smilewink: Thanks for the kind words!
  19. LOL - yeah, I've already thought about that! That would be bad conversation to have with my doc... :megalol: I plan to round it off and then cover it with something what will improve the look of it and also protect me and the cables from any edges.
  20. I didn't think you were.... was just clarifying since I mentioned some stuff was not accurate in mine. :D
  21. All my switches will be (are) real. Most of them are actual A-10 switches. The areas that are not 100% accurate are in the layout of some panels (i.e. the SAS panel is not even with the throttle in the real jet) and the width of the consoles - there's less space between the inner and outer panels. I plan to have everthing backlit and displays on all the appropriate panels like the CDU, ILS, etc. Those will most likely be added much later.
  22. Oh... wanted to mention how awesome the sim is now with a centered mounted stick! I was really susprised at how much of a difference that made. :)
  23. After over two months of an insane work schedule, I actually had some free time this weekend to work on my pit. :D Didn't have any time to run the laser and engrave any UFC's though as my wife had people over and the noise would have been annoying. :( Anyway, I did manage to get the framwork for the left and right consoles done and also fabricate a base for the WH that would work with my playseat. I had orignally wanted to buy/build and ACESII style seat, but for space reasons, I decided to go with the Playseat. Worked out pretty well I think. The monitor shelf is temporary until I can build my front dash and get an LCD TV mounted. Still alot of work to do on the consoles and panels - painting, installing switches, and wiring, but it sure feels good to have made some progress on it! Unfortunately, I am going to be slammed with work again in July, so I don't expect to get much else done until August. :( WARNING - cockpit purists may want to avert your eyes from the images. I am not going for 100% acurracy, so you'll definitely see some compromises in my console design. :D
  24. Very nice!!
  25. From the TrackIR FAQ.... Now if you have the TrackClip Pro, you do want to move to the left or right as needed to align the clip with the TrackIR. Here's the quick start guide that shows that... http://media.naturalpoint.com/files/print/trackir/tcp-quickstart-201105-folded.pdf
