  1. I'm going to cut holes in it with a laser cutter. That's not what I'm doing. Not yet, anyway.:D You did not misunderstand. For now, all I'm doing is making control head backplates. Thanks for the comments, guys!
  2. The clad sheet was much more expensive, and I plan to paint it.
  3. Hello fellow pitbuilders! I'm about begin construction of a prototype console panel for the A-10. Browsing the catalog at onlinemetals.com, I see that the different aluminum alloys have differing prices. Should I pick a particular alloy and live with the extra cost, or choose the cheapest option(5052 H32)? Thanks for your input!
  4. Wait, those two shots aren't the same? :wassat: Kidding aside, that looks really good.

  7. Ah, OK. I was unaware of that. :book:
  8. This is actually the case. The DCS series is CPU heavy, not GFX heavy, so your CPU will naturally be the bottleneck, even if you have a kick-a$$ video card. Also, the code is not multi-threaded, thus your i7 is only using 1 core to run all of the calculations that go along with a very accurate flight model, and the gfx card has to wait for the data. EthrealN: sometimes I think you get paid for sniping.:D

  17. Well, that's a demo bird, so I would think it would be exempt, yes?
  18. Actually, the Hog uses variants of airliner engines, so they're not as different as you may think. Also, does thrust downrating play into limits on max throttle operation?
