  1. Melikes the new arrangement!
  2. With a civilian transponder, the numbers only go from 0 to 7. IDK how the military ones are set up.
  3. Check out their website: http://flyingthingz.com/. If they get enough requests they might do a pig as well!:D
  4. Carrying anything larger than say, an AMRAAM will impact stability, no matter how much it weighs. The problem is the extra surface area, which would cause the tails and rudders (the primary spin recovery surfaces) to be less effective.
  5. Damn it, Bwaze, now I have to wipe the drool off my keyboard!:D
  6. Yes, the shkval can lock a moving target. It isn't even necessary to use the "ground moving target" button. I think that has to do with programming the fuse of the missile, but I may be wrong on that. Can you post a track of the behavior?
  7. If he came really close, I wonder what the military would do with his descriptions of where he was.
  8. The imperfection may have set up a vortex that interacted in an unforeseen, negative manner with some other things going on that compounded to result in rendering the aircraft unrecoverable. If the vorticies coming off the nose are even slightly different from one side to the other in strength and composition, they can "suck" the nose one way or the other. This can lead to a spin-inducing yaw, which would persist throughout and complicate the recovery. The linked article also mentioned an imbalance in the external fuel tanks, which would have complicated things even more. My condolences to the family.
  9. My pleasure:)
  10. Thanks! @pitbldr: There are many documents to be had at www.everyspec.com. The attached document gives you the dimensions you are looking for. Console Panel Basic Dimensions.PDF
  11. I really haven't done any formation at all, so no worries! The VRS Superbug certianly looks cool, but the $$$ are a bit tight right now, and I'm saving for my A-10 simpit. I have the accu-sim Stratocruiser- a very well modelled plane! I'll start a new thread in the Multiplayer section when my joystick is done.
  12. Nicely Done! Is that Solidworks? Can I have the dimensions you used for the height of the console, the angle of the forward panels, and the shape of the ribs?
  13. Doing "whatever keeps the ball centered" will cause you to fly in a sideslip, ie., a yaw without any bank.
  14. EDIT:darn, Dash beat me to it. I suspect you are talking about the controls indicator. Your joystick is probably working fine. Aerodynamic forces cause the helicopter to fly slightly asymmetrically, thus your control displacement. See the thread "problems stepping on the ball" for a more in-depth discussion.
  15. It is in fact, an i7.
  16. DROOL................ Much anticipating this release! I'm starting to regret the promise I made to myself not to fly it until my simpit is done:cry:
  17. If I'm not mistaken, the 1.0.2 patch puts the sound processes on a second core. Otherwise, with the task manager open, go the processes tab, then right click on the process you want to change. A drop-down menu will appear, and one of the options says "set affinity". Click on it, and you will be presented with a list of cores. On my system, a quad core, I get an options to use all processors, or CPU 0 thru 7. Anybody else know why there are more CPUs than I have?
  18. Darn, you had me real excited for a minute there!:D
  19. I've been kicking around some ideas for this same issue as well. Your solution is a good one, me likes the headphone jack idea! IRL, they use slip rings to transfer electricity through a joint with unlimited rotation. About the stepper motors, they need little optical flags to tell them when they are centered. The motor turns until the flag blocks a photocell directly across from a led/bulb. It then knows it is centered. About returning to center after a crash, I would think (speculation here) that the motors don't "forget" where they are unless they lose power. During a flight reset, they shouldn't lose power, and when the sim re-initializes with the ADI centered, the motors will respond. BTW, Mike Powell's Flight Deck Books are perfect resources for the type of thing you're doing. I have both of them, and they are excellent reads. Good luck with your project!
  20. That's OK. Formation with different aircraft would be more interesting anyway! Does anybody else you know have these planes and would they be interested?
  21. The diamond is either the heading to an active steerpoint or target point, or if none is active, the heading that the trim button was released at.

    pilot salary

The k stands for kilo, which in the metric system, is 1,000. So "34k" = $34,000 dollars per year. (Gross income before taxes, I presume)
