I just wanted to add that I am seeing the same Big Black Box over most of the screen and never noticed it before until today. I just started flying 2.7 at night using the F/A-18 off the Supper Carrier and notice the big black box while climbing out from the carrier. It was a night mission (5:30AM) and I think the box came and went about three times during the mission. I trying to figure out if it has something to do with flying at night and what forced it to go away. I think I hit the F-10 Map and then came back. I have this headset for about a year and I have been very happy with its sound quality and comfort. I also use it with the Sennheiser Epos GSX 1000 audio amplifier, which provides outstanding simulated 7.1 sound in the head phones.

I remember the PAPI lights at Batumi used to be very bright. Is it possible that 2.7 or something else could have caused them to become a little less bright. I can barely see them. The further out they get a little brighter they become but are still pretty dim.

I noticed that the Launch Crew will not launch me unless it launches all the AI aircraft on the deck first. This happens in a single player mission I built. Once the AI aircraft are launched the ground crew starts working my aircraft. There are no returning aircraft returning to the carrier, so I'm not sure that it's between cycles. Not sure it worked this way prior to 2.7.

Both the F/A-18 and F-16C have a little diamond in the center of the Control Indicator (R-Ctrl-Enter) indicating what I believe is the current trim settings of the aircraft (Roll & Pitch). I understand that both these aircraft are fly-by-wire and I thought that the Control Indicator would react the same way. What I am seeing is the Trim Diamond in the F-16C moves in response to the trim controls (Pitch & Roll). The F/A-18C is different, I see no moment from the diamond at all but a little tick mark on Control Indicator axis appears to move even though the Trim Diamond remains motionless to any trim response. Is this the way it is supposed to work or is the Trim Diamond supposed to move? I am aware that there is an outer diamond around the Trim Position that shows the stick position and that moves correctly to stick moments. I'm looking at the inner diamond. Sorry for the lengthy question. P.S. See page 26 of the DCS FA-18C Early Access Manual: It's call the Trim Tab Position and on Page 17 of the DCS F-16C Early Access Manual it's called Trim Position Feetwet

Yes that happened to me a few months ago, when I had to plug my stick into a different USB port. I since updated the firmware to 2021012 and when I unplugged my stick to add my new throttle (CM3) and then added the stick back all the key bindings where all still there in DCS.

I would think on case II or III you would not get this option for two reasons: first your already talking to app and they have identified you on radar and know your position and second, due to weather you might not necessary be able to see the ship.

Aim9 L and M can be fired without uncaging the missile, but you would have to keep the target in the center of the Hud until you fire the missile. I believe the advantage to uncaging the seeker head is to allow it to self track the target's heat source and this way you don't have to keep it in boresight where the reticle remains in the middle. This way your free to maneuver. Anyone else want to shed some light on this. One thing I wanted to add is that the reason I sometimes uncage is that I am not in range of the missile yet and I want to be able to maneuver without having to keep the target in the center of the hud while maneuvering to get into range. It's also reassuring when you uncage the missile and the seeker head continues to stay on the target by itself.

He went though the sound barrier and now he's gone through the next barrier. He probably broke that record as well . "God speed Chuck."

Thank you AvroLanc that is great help now that I know what it is. Regards, Feetwet

I have tried many times to set the toe brakes by holding them down and pulling the brake handle only to find that the brakes just release. Once in a while I get them to work, but their is nothing I am doing different. I tried pulling the hydraulic handled a few times as someone suggested to get a little hydraulic pressure in the system, but this does not help either. Is there something I might be doing wrong? I have set brakes in an actual aircraft like a Cessna 172 where you step on the toe brakes then pull the handle and release the handle and toe brake stay set. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but I just can't get the brake to stay on. I usually just hold the toe brake with my feet, but when going through the training it would be nice if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong. Regards, Feetwet

I'm having the same problem again and I thought I'd completely gotten rid of it on my new machine three months ago by running a process called debloating my machine. It completely got rid of it and the frame rate was as smooth as silk. The problem has come back and it has something to do with Brother Printer company remote logging into my machine and trying to figure out why I my printer stop working or a windows update. They wanted to charge me $100 to reinstall some Frame work and I said no and when he logged out I loaded DCS and all the stuttering was back. I don't know if it had something to do with the software he tried use to remote into my PC. I uninstalled his software from my pc, but its still stuttering very badly. I have windows updates turned off. Maybe he forced and update or maybe some service got started in the background, all I know is DCS is unplayable again and I don't know how to fix it. This computer has a very high CPU Ryzen 9 3970X, RTX 2080TI video board and 128 MB of Ram with M.2 drives and liquid cooled. The machine is custom built by Digital Storm. I really thought this machine would be fast enough not to have any problems with DCS or DCS not have any performance problem with this machine. When I first got the system it took three weeks with the help of another user to help fix the stuttering. If anyone has any ideas what might be causing this stuttering going from 60 FPS down to 30 FPS and back up every second I could use some help. I heard of other users having this same issue so I thought I'd reach out again. Looking for help. Thanks, Feetwet

Thanks for the quick response. I checked out the recruitment page and it says currently there are no F/A-18 Hornet instructors available, just my luck. I really wanted to take my flying to the next level, but I tried several squads and looks like there is nothing available in the U.S. right now.
-
I've been trying to find a squad located in the U.S. that will help me to become more proficient in the F/A-18, F-16 and A-10C. I have reached out to several squads and never heard back. I know some squads are just filled and other don't have the resources. I very much miss the camaraderie and fun I had when I was a member some years back. Unfortunately, my old squad has move over to flying IL2, but I really wanted to take DCS to the next level. If anyone can recommend a squad or knows of one that is recruiting in the U.S. I would appreciate the help. Thanks, Feetwet

I can't seem to get any of my tracks to play back showing what I actually did. Most of the times it shows me shooting at the sky when I was actually shoot at another aircraft. Is there anything I can do to improve the accuracy of my tracks. Thanks, Feetwet
-
Probably, but I would never have guessed in a million years which one. But I am so grateful that we figured it out and even though this machine is pretty beefy, I have to ask the question, how many other people are having the same problem? Or why me and not others? Feetet

Hi Lange, A DCS individual help me to cleanup my new machine by showing me how to turn-off processes running in the background that were not necessary for gaming. It's that simple. Since this computer has a processor with 32 Cores it requires Windows 10 Professional and from my understanding no matter what version of Windows 10 you are running there are processes running in the background that are using up valuable CPU cycles that DCS requires. Before I started this process I was seeing over 180 processes running in the background and now I am down to roughly 120. It's not for me to say, because I do not want to risk messing up someone's machine and telling them to turnoff something that they might need, but I think a guide could be agreed upon for DCS that basically shuts down unnecessary processes until someday DCS is written to be more efficient across multiple cores and better utilizes the GPU of modern machines. So far things seemed to be running well and I don't want to say much until I've had a chance to run everything to verify that all is working. I'm currently flying the F/A-18 and the F-5E using Track IR over the Nevada Map and the Persian Gulf and everything seems to working properly. Again thank you all for your help and continued support. Best Regards, Feetwet

I would like to bring this post to an end. But before I do, I would like to take the time to thank everyone who tried to help me resolve my issue. You guys are truly a dedicate bunch of professional individuals and I truly have a great respect for you dedication to DCS. Now the question all of you are wondering, did I find a solution to my problem. The short answer is yes I did. Thanks to the time of one member of your community who realized that this was a new PC, he spent many hours helping me tweak and configure my system for Gaming and with his changes DCS began to run very well. I may see an occasional stutter two or three times in an entire mission, but that's probably just DCS, but compared to every second that's totally acceptable. I am still testing the system, but so far it's been a joy to fly and a beautiful thing to watch. Hopefully, next I will put this system to the test and make it out to the carrier with my shinning new F/A-18 (on not so shiny) and seeing how it responds. In the meantime, I sincerely want to take the time to thank this individual for their patients and hard effort in making it possible for me to fly DCS and thank you all for your help. Best Regards, Feetwet P.S. I Look forward to flying on your wing any day. (Ok a little cheesy, but the second movie is due out soon so I am feeling a little nostalgic.) :joystick:

Hi Frappie, Just tried switching mice and plugged in a wired mouse and still seeing those micro stutters. Thanks for idea it was good one. Also, I just checked and I have Game Bar set to off, probably because someone told me it was not necessary to have it on. Regards, Feetwet

Because I decided on Digital Storm AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970X (32-cores)(Boost Up to 4.5 Ghz) ASUS ROG Zenith II Extreme Alpha (TRX40 Chipset)(Up to 4x PCI-E Devices)(Gen4 PCIe) 128GB DDR4 3200MHz Corsair Dominator Platinum DHX (Extreme-Performance) 1600W Corsair AX1600I (Digitally Controlled Power Supply) 3x SSD M.2 2 TB Seagate FireCuba 520)(NVW Express)(Gen4 PCIe) Geforce RTX 2080 TI 11GB H20: HydroLux Pro Custom Liquid Cooling System Even those this is not fastest machine out there is comes pretty close and if this machine cannot run DCS then what can. There should not be only one kind of machine that can run DCS smoothly and some would say that this machine is pretty darn fast. I tried Track IR on just core 4 and set it to priority and it had no difference. Yes I tried doing the same with DCS giving it 4 cores and move Track IR to another core. No change. Very important that you know that I tried DCS with NO TRACK IR and their are still Micro stutters. There should not be any if you ask me. Truth be told they seem a little better, but they happen just as often and should not be their at all. Feetwet.

Machine is also liquid cooled (Big cooler) and we checked temps, volts, throttling and all look normal. Thanks for the idea. Feetwet

Hi Guys, This is not a track IR problem, but it does make it worse. I have cap my Frame Rate at 60 FPS and I have tried running Vsync, which I believe I am running now. But most importantly when running DCS I see the Frame Rate drop out very quickly and recover causing all objects in the sim from Terrain, fuel trucks, AI, other aircraft to momentary pause for a very quick second. These pauses keep happening ever 1 to 2 seconds and never stop. It does seem that Track IR makes the problem worse, but even if I pause Track IR while flying and look out at the ground below me I see these micro stutters still there and that make the sim feel so unrealistic that it is not really playable. It does not matter if I am at a high altitude or down low either. If you read the thread you will see I have tried everything recommended and even load another sim and their is no problem. The truth is this machine should have more than enough horse power to run DCS smoothly. Also if you go online and in this forum you will see that this has been going on for a very long time. My guess is if it were fixable it would have been fixed by now and it's not affecting everyone so what makes my hardware so different. Sometime I feel like the whole sim is hiccupping while I fly. Even the B-sweep on the radar scopes skips a little. Very annoying. Yes I checked the Event log while flying and even though there are few items in there I am assured that it has nothing to do with DCS and most people have some of these events and they are having any problems. Regards, Feetwet

I'm having the same issue and I am running on a new pretty fast machine. I've been posting about them on an earlier thread called, "Studder Non Stop on new Machine". I thought it had to do with Track IR, but now I am convinced it's may not be the problem. Try loading DCS without Track IR and see if the Jerks go away. On my machine I see them about every second or so and I see the framerate drop out. Not sure what's causing them since I am new to DCS. Regards, Feetwet
