Thanks! That's a big help. Was just starting to do some checking on the Monstertech stuff and glad to see a positive review. Now if FedEx will just get there with my Orion.....
-
Thanks, I asumed that was the case, though actually coming from a 15 year-old TM Cougar. I'll prob just start with screw mount to my desk, but have been looking at the Monstertech chair mounts. Looks like a more comfortable solution than desk mounted; my arms get tired... ☺

Just ordered my Orion and currently have a 1x12 across my corner desk space to give space for my old hotas. Has anyone used a different desk attachment than the suction cups? I doubt the raw wood will hold the cups. Anyone tried attaching a wider plate to the suction cup holes, sim to the warthog stick base? Want to have a plan when it gets here.... ;)

They're definitely there after the last update.

Thanks, I'll experiment a bit more and see if I can improve my hits.

I finally figured out what was borked. I had the TDC depress set as a single keyboard press. Once I added the /H modifier to the command to hold it down, it works correctly.

I've been trying to get a bit more proficient using the TPOD and have noticed a quirk. If I laser designate a spot that is above ground, say a tall building roof or bridge, it seems the laser is locking on the ground level through it and as I approach the target, the laser spot moves as it tracks the ground instead of the actual spot on the target. Is this a known issue or is this the way it works IRL? (I can't imagine that it is...)

Well, still no slewing with the unrealistic slew option.... Not sure what the deal is, it works fine with the radar and TPOD, just not with the Walleye or MavF. Oh well, I guess it's still a WIP....

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Otherwise, I suppose we'll stick with the laser-guided weps for now.

Hello all, I have a TM Cougar (unmodded) and I've been banging away for the last few months learning the F-18 and carrier ops and have finally started trying to get proficient in A2G weapon delivery. Unguided and laser guided with the TPOD have been going well, but I've run into an issue with the weapons where I have to depress the TDC (microstick) and slew to a target, namely the Walleye and the MavF; the targeting reticle just won't slew. I've double checked my control assignments and the TDC slew and depress work fine in radar and laser designation, but when I depress the TDC and try to slew it for the others, it won't move. Any ideas what I've got cocked up? Thanks,

There are plenty of videos on YouTube - Both Wags and Grim Reapers have nice tutorials out.

Does anyone know of any A/G weapon checklists that could be dumped into the kneeboard maker for in-flight reference? Did a quick search and didn't find anything, but didn't want to spend the time if someone had done it already. Thanks!

What Nvidia driver version is best for DCS?
Chris P replied to ouseler's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I found that finally moving DCS to a SSD got rid of my little intermittent pauses. -
Thanks. I'm pretty sure I used the registry fix checkbox but will check again next time I start up.

Noob question here - I started DCS about 6 weeks ago and only had the stable version loaded. Since then, I've added Voice Attack and VAICOM Pro and been a happy camper. This weekend I saw the new Hornet updates and decided to go do the Open Beta thing and used the DCS Updater Utility to switch my install over to the OB. First time I ran VAICOM, I checked and it was still pointed at my non-standard install location (E:\Games\DCS World), I switched to "openbeta" on the Config page and seemed to run fine. Started today and VAICOM says it can't find a valid install. So re-pointed the path to the correct place and seems to run fine. Is there something else I should've done when switching to the OB to make VAICOM more happy? Do I need to switch it to openbeta in Config, or does it matter? Thanks,

TrackIR 5 is something that I could not sim without. Take some time and tweak the profile so it reacts the way you want it to. I have mine slightly deadzoned at the center so it's centered in the cockpit when I'm not moving but reacts once I get a few degrees off.

One last question..... (for now...) I've gotten everything working the way I'd like, but while the microstick works fine for the radar cursor, when I go into the TGP display in narrow field, the cursor is way too jumpy to get it centered over a target. Is there a setting you can add in the microstick settings that would make it be more smooth? Using Rudel's stick settings below: MIY 5 3 (0 40 60 100) (/H RDR_CURSOR_Switch-Down) ^ (/H RDR_CURSOR_Switch-Up) MIX 5 3 (0 40 60 100) (/H RDR_CURSOR_Switch-Left ) ^ (/H RDR_CURSOR_Switch-Right) The Foxy help doesn't really explain how the banding in the Type 5 statement helps with the sensitivity... I had thought maybe use the /A modifier with a slight delay instead of the /H, but that's not allowed.

Very nice! Will look forward to getting through it.

As a DCS newbie, I just want to say "thanks", because I probably would not have started without the free tryout of the World and F-16. I didn't think my system would handle it, but it does OK for now. Now with a few hours of flight time in the Viper, I'm looking forward to adding some other terrains and aircraft modules. Thanks DCS!

F-16C - Training Mission - Cold Start "by the Book"
Chris P replied to Rudel_chw's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Very nice, sir. Will be spending some time starting up this morning.... :) -
Well, I thought I had, but I checked it off and back on and now it seems to be working correctly. Is there a difference in downloading from Foxy or from the CCP? Thanks!
-
Okay, I know that it's been about 10 years since I've messed with Foxy, but I'm having a biatch of a time trying to modify a profile for the Cougar HOTAS. Many thanks to Rudel and MVS-Viper for the F16 profiles, but I have a few things that I wanted to modify for a few buttons. The problem I'm having is that I will change or make a new macro definition and drag and drop it (or write it from scratch, it doesn't matter) into the BTN definition, save, and load it to the stick but the old macro is still there. For example, I don't want the wheel brakes on the paddle switch, I'd rather have a headtracker recenter on it. I define Headtracking_Recenter = {CTL F9} in the macros, go into the TMJ file and drop it into the button line: BTN S4 /I /H Paddle_Switch-Depress /O /H Headtracking_Recenter I save both files, and download it to the stick, but the keypress viewer still shows the paddle sending 'w'. Checking the TMJ doesn't show any errors. I don't remember having this much trouble way back when.... Can anyone tell me what I'm forgetting (or what I forgot I'm forgetting)? Thanks!

My handle elsewhere is NCStateFan, so while technically correct, I take minor offense at being called a Tarheel.... ;) But otherwise, hello fellow Carolinian!

Thanks, I'll work on getting Foxy going again. Nice to know about the USB IDs changing; that would be a pain. Cheers!
