  1. FYI - the avionics on the Su-17/22 and Mig-27 are comparable to the Su-25 - so it is good to always include these two in a mod.
  2. Any progress?
  3. The link doesn't seem to work!
  4. Thanks for the update! Hopefully there will someday be some type of export feature at least (eg. the rough geographical positions of troops & their current orders - if not the details of the actual game state)
  5. Hello, I was wondering if DCS:Combined Arms will have the ability to save the battle state (positions and orders of troops) part way through a mission. Ground combat/strategy games tend to take longer than air-combat sorties... unless the scenario is very small I should think that having some form of save function is of critical importance. Any word on this? Thanks,
  6. My question - when can we by the Su-25S...
  7. The Su-25 Rules! Thank you!
  8. I'm just glad that the Rook is still being worked on. I'd love to have a little more modability (eg. a few extra slots), but basically upgrading the Rook to have current features is great!
  9. Hello, I thought this would be a fun project for a modeller. Not much is known (outside of photos of the model and some size estimates) - so it should be quick to do. A few quick edits could: - produce a tweaked FM - shift hardpoints into internal bays (and add the FAB-1500, extra R-73 etc.) - modified hardpoints would allow simultaneously carrying all of the sensor pods (with the models hidden inside the fuselage) and a couple extra jammers (expanding the sensor suite) Some speculative drawings: http://paralay.com/sh90.html A few more pics (one has to register on the forum to find them): http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,132.msg100022.html#msg100022 http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,1033.msg138843.html#msg138843
  10. One can still attack ships using the Su-25T (I usually use anti-radiation missiles, followed by laser guided ones - typically KH-25MP and KH-29L)
  11. It would certainly be cool to have a junior series which could cheaply model some of the newer aircraft (PAK-FA, JSF) for which there is too little data to do a good job. However, I'd be happy with just the Su-25... It would be great to have the old Su-25 models working as a DCS module (even though they would be lower detail)
  12. It is a very odd idea - but it should be easy to do at lower detail: http://www.paralay.com/sh90.html http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,132.0/nowap.html (You have to register to see the pictures on the second site...) Could do it by modifying the hardpoints and flight model for the Su-25 slightly... the avionics were basically similar...
  13. That is pretty neat (I hadn't known about the Phalanga/Shturm compatible versions). I was wondering - will you add the S-24 (4xloadout) circa the Chechen wars? It would also be nice to see bombloads for the Mi-24 (including 10xFAB-100 as used in Afghanistan). It is a shame it won't be possible to add a door gunner... It might be neat if you set up a thread to obtain loadout corrections/expansions from people... there are quite a few. Great work!
  14. Btw. The Mi-24P has a fixed forward firing gun...
  15. He did a lot of work for OPF/ARMA series. If I recall correctly he was the first person to show that he had modded Il-2 (a couple of years before QTim made public tools).
  16. No purgatory - death is likely to be a lot darker or a lot more supernatural. Although we can"t be sure can we? We could have all died and now exist in an identical universe?
  17. Thanks, I guess my concern is that FC2 compatibility will eventually be dropped when the air-to-air/sensor modelling is overhauled. I see no reason why the Su-25/Su-25T, with their optical sensors and reliance on the human eye should be abandoned, though. I'd dearly like to see an FC3 which just retained the Su-25/Su-25T as flyables. The Su-25 is one of the last aircraft to rely on the Mk.1 eyeball and analogue dials. It also provides a unique weapons set and an ability to fly strike missions for CIS countries (effectively doubling the target diversity in the campaign). Until another Russian strike aircraft makes it into DCS we really benefit from having this plane.
  18. Fate of the Frogfoot Hello, I thought it was time to inquire about this: I've heard that there aren't sufficient references to model a Su-25 to DCS standards. However, it might be possible to retain the Su-25 as a playable OPFOR for the A-10. This would be a payable addon or an easter egg along the lines of FC2. Is this possible? Will we be able to fly lower fidelity Frogfoots well into the DCS series? Or will the last flyable Frogfoots be in FC2?
  19. Yes, there is no way a maverick should be able to lock onto a manpad so easily ;)
  20. It is funny - I usually only fly mud-movers - rarely multi-role even. The one exception on the interceptor front is this plane. I really would buy a Mig-31 sim... (F-16 not nearly as likely) So I'm looking forward to any improvements in the model. It looks nice.
  21. I'm sure you could get it done if you're willing to pay enough though...
  22. It was in the original FC - made these weapons much more useful I think. If you load them on a Ka-50 you can drop them in groups of 1-3 (it is hard to control the exact number released due to the very fast release rate while the trigger is depressed). There is also a glitch which causes an extra bomb to be dropped from the rack (it appears to be hiding inside of the other bombs). I'd be curious to know how they are used in real life.
  23. My first thought is that you might want to consider the number of rockets v. the size of the ship.
  24. Be ready to eventually give up (as a strategy of last resort). I was looking forward to rockets in this sim (taking out three out of four vehicles fired at in one run etc.) - but the mixture of the flight control system and fire control system means that employing rockets is actually harder than employing missiles (requiring more avionics use, delays etc.) So now I fly an unarmed Ka-50...
  25. I wonder if the various civilian vehicles (the one's which spawn automatically) could have these guys attached?
