  1. Yeah, but it is hard to read something that is on your forehead... At least for me. I also try not to stare too much at other people's foreheads. And a sticky in that spot would block my third eye...
  2. Better than me! One note though: Power lines used to have a collision effect in LOMAC - but they didn't do any damage to the aircraft. This was changed in DCS and as LOFC2 is using the DCS engine/environment I'd assume that they are dangerous now.
  3. You guys are all talking about the nose right? *lol*
  4. Just buy it! (and fill in those of us waiting for the boxed copy with your observations...)
  5. Ha! I'm currently running FC on a broken (higher rendering functions cause a VPU crash) ATI 128mb card.
  6. Still no KAB-500L though?
  7. Awesome/Yay!
  8. I guessed that the new warhead modelling would make S-5 and S-8 rockets slightly more effective against vehicles (when they score direct hits). I also knew that the modelling of infantry would give the SPPU-22 a new purpose. However, the fact that cluster bombs are better modelled and more difficult to use is a real surprise. I'm quite excited (looking forward to the May release)!
  9. Great!! Now all that I need is an LAU-68 and I'll be able to sleep for a thousand years...
  10. Quick questions: - Does FC 2.0 support the DCS phase-based campaign system? - Does FC 2.0 include the DCS infantry
  11. Well there was that Israeli F-15 which managed to land without one wing...
  12. Heck, I would have been happy to pay more for a LAU-68 and an upgraded B-8 rocket pod 3d model. No need for fancy clickable cockpits...
  13. I've found that the FAB-100s are reasonably effective high-explosive bombs and they can be released at lower altitudes than a FAB-250 or FAB-500. They can also be carried singly in order to keep weight/drag down. If you are flying fast enough the FAB-100s will land in a row. In the original LOMAC the bombs were released one at a time (and they are released in pairs in DCS). In FC they are released four at a time. You might try using a very short depression of the trigger. I found this worked in DCS to only release some of the FAB-100s (instead of the entire hardpoint). Let me know if this works.
  14. I'd gladly pay the extra $15 if it means a new 3d model for the B-8 rocket pod and some type of boresight limits for the 9A4172. Of course, I'd gladly pay the extra fee anyway.
  15. Nope, they have some of the most developed (and overly elaborate) combat helicopter tactics in the world.
  16. Its time this repetitive discussion grows up. I think we should all agree on the following. Facts: - There is footage showing a Ka-50 flying with an inert R-73 - No live footage of a Ka-50 firing this weapon has been seen (by me) - The official documents claim it has the ability to carry the Igla (otherwise unconfirmed) - The Ka-50 cockpit has a second A2A mode switch on the joystick itself (modelled by ED but inactive for lack of published references). - Almost all types of attack helicopters are built to carry AAMs - The Oh-58 regularly sports ATA in service, the Mi-24 was modified and put into limited service as a Cessna interceptor (but the R-60 wasn't satisfactory) - Many smaller countries are much keener to have AA abilities on their helicopters and it makes sense to have a self-defense/opportunistic snapshot AAM capability for at least one aircraft in a group of helicopters under a variety of combat conditions - although helicopters aren't ideal platforms for air combat.
  17. This poll is, of course, totally biassed by the fact that the Ah-64A and Mi-24 are already announced (otherwise the hind scores 60%... ;) )
  18. http://algorithmicbotany.org/ Anyway, what would help DCS would be to get a map of Georgia's different environmental types (I've found a couple) and then make templates with different mixes of plants to replace the forests in each of these zones. This could create quite different combat environments depending on altitude, whether one is on a north or south slope of a hill etc.
  19. We're just humbler as we haven't seen a decent new sim in a decade and are happy with what we've got. Whereas, I wouldn't recommend saying anything about the whole spat that happened when ED announce they were doing a helo sim...
  20. I suppose the benefits for the DVD version are that its harder to lose than a file on a computer (as it has its own disk/case) and that it can be installed on computers with dial-up or erratic internet connections? But, its still impossible to install it on a computer without an internet connection, correct? Thanks,
  21. ...and the Ka-50 has no equal ;)
  22. Go! read! learn! make us even, no secrets anymore: http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=74
  23. There's a hidden link in GA sig ;) *edit: just kidding*
  24. On a technical note, it also means the ED is basically all we've got. So, we can't "vote with our feet" without giving up jet sims as a whole (or going back to our old ones). So, it makes people claustrophobic and sometimes a little desperate. We really don't want to see ED fail because of a management decision.
