The real 2000's antenna elevation control on the throttle looks like a wheel but it is actually a "2 button wheel" as explained in the official manual page 43. So it's why it is not possible in DCS to bind that to an "axis".

The Pebble of Discord : A Mirage Story
R.MES replied to R.MES's topic in User Created Missions General
You're right ! That is a (new) problem. The MiG-29 flies at ~260kt (as planned) but permanently with full AB (not planned, not needed) ! It's insane, aerodynamically impossible in real life ... And in June when I published this campaign, it was not the case of course, ... So, now the MiG-29 wastes its fuel in few minutes due to the full AB and the pilot ejects ... I fixed the problem by activating the option "Restrict Afterburner" on its ... and that seems allright. I published a new version of the package. Thanks Ecnatalausio for your intervention. Tell me if you see something else wrong.- 5 replies

The Pebble of Discord : A Mirage Story
R.MES replied to R.MES's topic in User Created Missions General
Thanks for reporting that. It's strange. I tested a bunch of times and I never had this situation. Sometime, AI pilot can act like a fool ... Have you played this mission just once ? It could also be a (new) problem with the last DCS version ... Anyway, I'll (re)test it as soon as I can.- 5 replies

That probably won't help you but for me (DCS 2.9.6.57650) the key binding named "Stores 2 SELECT" is working to swtich on/off this button.
-
And if you are happy, I'm happy too ! Thanks for your comments. These campaigns are hard work and it's important to have feedbacks. Life is full of events, sometime difficult to manage but I hope you can come back soon !

I confirm. Some export versions can carry Exocet (RDM or -5) but there is no Exocet or -5 in DCS and it is not planned. So that ends this option. Nevertheless, there are some alternatives, as you mentioned : During the Falkland war, Daggers and A-4s used unguided bombs against UK warships with variable results ... but sometimes impressive. And as I explained in my last campaign (see Mission 6) : In 80s, the CBU-99 / Mk 20 Rockeye (cluster bomb like the BLG-66) was a standard weapon for US Navy A-6, A-7 and F-18 conducting "Surface CAP". In the mid-80s, US Navy used it efficiently against several Lybian warships in the the Gulf of Syrte. Concerning the danger of the warships AAA weaponry, it's a matter of tactics of course but also a matter of fine tuning in the mission editor if needed. By the way, all options are still opened but according to the survey, Syria & Kola maps come first. And as my 2nd campaign is on the Syria map, Kola could be a good chose. Note that Kola is also a good place for antiships scenario ...

Thanks DmitriKozlowsky ! Your suggestions are really interesting. I keep that in mind ...

Hi everyone ! I've just published my third campaign a few days ago. The first two have been widely downloaded with plenty positive feedback. Here the links : https://forum.dcs.world/topic/258537-blood-and-sand-a-mirage-story/ https://forum.dcs.world/topic/285370-the-cedar-and-the-rooster-a-mirage-story/ https://forum.dcs.world/topic/350797-the-pebble-of-discord-a-mirage-story/ I have no shortage of ideas or motivation, but before I start imagining a new one, I would like to have your opinion. So what would you like next ? I would be grateful to anyone who takes the time to answer. The survey being limited to 3 questions, feel free to add on this thread anything you think is useful : - Nb of my previous campaigns downloaded / started / completed - Possible historical context +/- compliant with the Mirage 2000C - Perceived difficulty level of the previous ones / expected for the next - The ideal length for a mission (1h ? less ? more ?) ? ...
-
I confirm. After some quick tests, only "xxx Armor Piercing xxx" has an effect on ships (even civilian, cargo ... so non armored). By the way, the result is pretty terrific (probably too much). All others ammo have no effect at all (no message, no log about hit or damage). Neither is realistic in my opinion ... But why not ... Thank you both
-
With the last DCS version 2.9.5.55918, the key shortcuts "Main Battery ON" and "Main Battery OFF" now works again !
-
Thanks Tholozor, I have no doubt about the lethality of a 30mm shell vs 20mm ... But with the M61, the ship is never hit ! It's not just a matter of damage percentage ...
-
Hello everyone ! I tried several times with a simple mission and it seems the gun is ineffective (no hit/damage) against ships (of any type). Bullets go through the hull without effect. Have you noticed that too? Of course : I'm sure to aim correctly (and it works with ground vehicles). The ships are not invulnerable (hit/damaged with any others weapons). In the same mission if I switch to the Mirage 2000, the gun is able to hit/damaged the ships.

"The Pebble of Discord : A Mirage Story" is a fictional story-driven 8 mission campaign for the Mirage 2000C, fully voiced-over, taking place in 1992 in the Persian Gulf between UAE and Iran about Abu Musa island. Briefing doc and kneeboard available for each mission. Situation : June 1992. Abu Musa is like a pebble in the sea. It is a tiny island less than 13 km² but strategic due to its potentials oil fields and its position in the Strait of Hormuz halfway between Iran and the United Arab Emirates ... two countries fighting over its possession for more than three decades ! Link : https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3338331/ Hi everyone ! Here is my third campaign for the Mirage 2000. Here the first two : https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3314265/ https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3319066/ The three campaigns share the same mindset. If you enjoyed the previous ones, I'm sure you'll enjoy this one ! Feel free to comment, ask, report, ... R.MES

Absolutely sure as I mentionned in my other post. And I confirm I have no pb during the start up procedure, no crazy lights or sounds, ... But I have no doubt there are several bugs (as in each new DCS version unfortunatly) ... like the one I have reported myself.
-
Hmmm ... no problem on my side during the startup procedure. FBW test is working (if you move several times the rudder and the stick). The only bug with this version (2.9.5.55300) I had noticed is the key binding of the Main Battery ON/OFF as I explained here :
-
Hello ! Since the last DCS version (2.9.5.55300), the key shortcuts "Main Battery ON" and "Main Battery OFF" don't work any more ... Do you confirm ? Have I missed something ?
-
I have juste tested and ... it works ! It's perfect for what I want to do. Thanks ! By the way, I have a question : Do you have a list of these Cockpit parameters and the expected format of the value for each ? (not obvious to know that 6 digit is expected after the '.' for instance ...).
-
Hi ! Is there any way to know which radio frequency or channel is currently selected by the player ? I tried several methods for the Mirage 2000 in vain. It's easy to get the cockpit arguments name (knob, button, display ...) in the .lua scripts of the plane or via the .edm file (with the ModelViewer2 executable) but ... - the knob / button (and the use of "COCKPIT PARAM IN RANGE" in the ME) is not reliable to know what is selected. - the small screen of the radio panel ("PNT_VHF_RIGHT") displays in game what I want to know but to find the format (and use "COCKPIT INDICATION TEXT IS EQUAL TO" in the ME), the acces to the dev console is mandatory. And the dev console is not available in the public version of DCS ... So do you have a solution ?

Hi everyone ! I put a new version of this campaign (https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3314265/), retested with DCS 2.9, minor changes and doc updated.

The Cedar and the Rooster : A Mirage Story
R.MES replied to R.MES's topic in User Created Missions General
Hi everyone ! I fixed (I hope) the Mission 2 and put this new version alone here : https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3337402/ As explained in the description, if someone test it, tell me the result. By the way, thank you all for your support. My two campaigns have each been downloaded more than a thousand times with very positive feedback, video playthroughs, etc.- 33 replies

The Cedar and the Rooster : A Mirage Story
R.MES replied to R.MES's topic in User Created Missions General
Hello Alboon ! Thanks for this information. If you are playing with the DCS open beta version maybe try the stable one if you can. But honestly I can't do nothing for now due to a lack of time and a too old PC for the now too heavy Syria map (as I explained here one years ago). In this mission, an other problem was reported with the Gazelles. I don't know if it is still the case. It's insane and depressing to see that each new DCS version can break something in a mission. This mission 2 is as simple as possible (no LUA script, only basic commands to JTAC, to Gazelles, ...). It's incomprehensible that suddenly, something previously perfectly worked doesn't work anymore ... My best advice : except if someone has a workaround, skip this mission for now. Maybe later I'll peer into these mission 2 to check and rebuild it if needed but not before several months unfortunately ...- 33 replies
