never mind. he compared fx 6300 to i5 3320m n i7 3770 both of which r ivy bridge. still, I'm happy w my decision which cost me 150 bucks less. thats a lot of money here. if I had gone i5 I know I'd have post purchase regret. lol

no benchmarks. i cant stand reading reviews w all that tech pillow talk. i decided because this one guy posted his experience using his i3, 5, 7 n 6300 n how they feel to him. he stresses the importance of pairing whatever chip u end up w ssd. to him the i5 feels only slightly faster but not significant enough to warrant the extra 100 usd. i7, of course, is blazing fast but if one cant afford it then 6300 is a better choice than i5.

no idea what eent wrong here. cpu fan stopped woring twice n bought times i got bsod. turned out fan worked fine when plugged to different header so i kept using it. a few weeks later i decided to add 2 more fans n that was when the mobo stopped working. all the fans worked when i hit power button though. weird.

two mobo choices here. asrock 990fx extreme 3 or gigabyte 990fxa ud3 rev3. I only see the gigabyte on the list in ur link. other fx drawbacks ive to consider is heat n power consumption. it is hot n humid all yr round in this country. another disadvantage is its weak single threaded performance. significantly less than intel from what ive read. the one thing it has going for it is price which is why i keep flip flopping. i wish these reviewers would test the fx series w dcs. well, i meant i may, in the future, throw money at i5 or i7 when i think of future proof. those r expensive but they blow the fxs away. this from a man who had bought amd up until my last two systems. im no intel fanboy.

you're giving me too much credit. :D im not gonna overclock. if i screwed up id be out of a lot of money. my desd comp lasted 4 yrs, never overclocked, n id very much like the new one to survive much longer. ive been reading up on 6300 vs i3 n the one thing everyone agreed on is intel is future proof. i have a month to decide so ill be sure to educate myself before throwing my money around.

why don't you have dcs? it,s free.. my hyper 212 n corsair 750 would be sufficient them. I have bonus money coming end of Feb n if I didn't have to budget for a new HD n windows os id have enough for a proper system. I'll read your links.

definitely a DCS machine but not just. 3d modeling drawing n painting take up bigger chunk of my PC time now.

Still trying to grasp what's the sweet spot price wise. Yes, ive come to accept ill lose most of the programs. Im terrible at organizing and will have to hunt down all the fam pics, music n junk accumulated on my 2 drives over the years. That's what I dread the most.
