  1. Is the best way to just uninstall and reinstall?
  2. Took off and landed a couple times from the Supercarrier last evening; the sound of the tires/gear on the deck have changed significantly. Like I was on an old wooden roller coaster. I thought perhaps I had a flat tire or something was wrong!
  3. Please, go ahead and post a bug. I downloaded the new update and flew a mission attempting to JDAMs. As noted, targeting pod would not lock up the target. I returned to base, rearmed with JSOWs and few to the target zone. Just as with JDAM, the targeting pod would not lock up the target!.
  4. About 90 mins for me ...
  5. There are two separate versions of the A-10 available for purchase. Wonder if that is something that you are looking at. One is a $55.99 version (A10-C II) that is very complete and includes many systems that the other version (A-10A) priced at $7.50, does not have.
  6. I guess I would rather it extend North and include NAS Fallon and all of it's bombing ranges.
  7. Part of the problem with watching YouTube and I guess even possibly Chuck's information is that ED updates the game so often. Not suggesting that ED should not, but it has some side affects. Information that is put out today becomes outdated, insufficient, and/or possibly even inaccurate in just a short timeline. You can watch a 'How To' video from six months back, and find that things have changed. By in large they are still the same, but likely there are some slight nuances from what is described. Stuff from three years ago, well you might not even recognize the procedures! Chuck's Guides are amazing in detail. I can't imagine being able to keep that current with the rate that ED makes changes to the game and all of the different modules. Hats off to you Charly!
  8. The F/A-18C arguably is the most complete that DCS offers. It is among the most versatile platforms as well; it can be used for a ground attack, it can be used for SEAD missions, it can be used for air to air. It can be launched and recovered by an aircraft carrier, or takeoff and land upon airfields. It has the reputation of being the easiest to fly, it is fly by wire, it is supersonic and yet also has a relatively slow stall speed and recoverable, the landing gear is designed for a carrier so you basically crash land it without a whole lot of finesse…
  9. Pacific Time Zone: we fly Tue, Thu and Sat at 6:00 pm. I am still new to this game, purchased a new pc and components and downloaded the game back around Thanksgiving. The thing about joining a squadron is that you do not know what or how they will interact with you, to what levels of training they provide, expect, or if they can meet your expectations, etc. I was a bit apprehensive being brand new, but reached out to a squadron that flies during the time frames that work best for me. I can not say enough good about the squadron, it has been wonderful with them! The CO is a Canadian, I believe out of the Calgary area. We are a relatively small group, maybe a dozen active guys, mature age group (don't know exactly how old guys are, but gut feel is 40's to 60's), we fly missions and/or training three times a week, not required to attend every time but encouraged, don't need to make excuses when you are not going to make it simply state it "I'm out for Saturday". The squad has a group who creates missions for us to fly, missions tend to be against the game (AI) not person vs person, for a new-bee I can tell you that flying against AI is hard enough! The guys are great, very helpful, and yet in a friendly manner joke with one another about our mishaps! And by the way, everyone has them, nobody is perfect. I have come a long, long way in the short time that I have been with them, yet still improving! Always looking for new guys to fly with. If you have interests, post me back.
  10. Not today, they really don't last on the shelf all that long!
  11. A week or two ago I was having the same problem, would open the software and TrackIR settings would automatically come up as the Default. I'd switch it to my DCS settings and hit save. Would then open the DCS Game and start playing and it just didnt feel as if my TrackIR was correct. Would go back and check and sure enough, it had switched itself back to 'Default Settings'. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat, TrackIR seemed to be wrong in the game and I would find it to have reverted to Default every time ... fought with that son of a gun for an hour trying to keep it on DCS setting. Finally, I checked that box next to 'exclusive' and it has held DCS Setting everytime since.
  12. Does the 'target size select' setting of SML as opposed to MED or LRG have any noticable effect?
  13. Thank you Aurelius, I did see that 'dead zone' as well, and I do have some values assigned to them, but I can't recall what they are right off the top of my head. Seems as if they are Beginning Value, Center Value and End Value or something like that and very small numbers like '1'. I don't know if that is on a range of 1 to 100, or possibly 1 to 5, but it seems as if it were pretty low in comparison to the dead zones I have established on Track IR. What are the numerical values you have installed as I didn't change anything from what was default, so may be way off? Appreciate it!
  14. Victory... In that Slaw Device calibration program, there are radio buttons labeled 'Invert' that can be clicked; you click the 'invert' box for left break left, then 'start calibration', press down on the left toe-break and release, 'end calibration' and then 'Save'. Rinse and repeat for the right toe-break. No idea what the term 'invert' means in this regards, but you apparently need to click that. But not clicked on the left rudder and right rudder, just on the breaks. Also, need to be sure to 'Save' after the 'end calibration' or else 8-mins later when you are back in the cockpit in DCS you will still be wondering why you can't stop!
  15. Good afternoon, To begin, thank you for your help Aurelius. I downloaded the Slaw Device calibration program, it does reflect that the rudder pedals and the toe breaks are present (it sees them). I assume that what I have done to calibrate these is also accurate, however there is no instruction or detail on the correct procedure to calibrate. Perhaps you could help me with this? I guess it could also be that I am just too naive to understand how 'breaks' work on an airplane and my sim is working exactly as it is supposed to. My assumption is that if you start the aircraft moving forward at taxi speed, and you apply the rudder pedal, that it would turn the plane in that direction; and IT DOES. My assumption also is that if you were then to press down on both of the toe breaks, that it would stop the airplane from its taxi speed; IT DOESN'T. Is it simply that I do not understand how to stop the aircraft with the breaks? I am brand new, but can actually land the F/A-18 on an airport field; I honestly think I am 100% at getting it onto the ground but have only attempted this six or seven times. On landing, I now purposely touch down at the extreme end of the runway, maybe even a few hundred feet before it, pull the throttle to idle, and steer it as straight as possible down the runway. It absolutely will slow down, but only to 80 to 90-kts if I'm lucky. If I stand on the toe breaks, it does nothing, it continues to travel at high speed. When I get to the end of an 8,000’ long strip, I go ahead and steer it the best I can around objects, trees and a few air defense weapons. At those speeds I end up ¾-mile or so out through the grass at the end there until it slows enough that I can turn it around without tipping over. I then throttle it back up, drive it at slow speed back through the grass the ¾-mile to the airfield and find me a neat-o little parking spot in front of a hanger. But of course, it doesn’t stop with the toe breaks even at a very slow roll, so at that point I end up parking it in the grass next to the hanger; puff up and act like I am an absolute big-dawg of the fighter pilot variety! Gig Em! I am brand new, but this just doesn’t seem to be the textbook way to land and park ;)
  16. Thank you Aurelius, So last evening I found the 'wheel-break' in the axis commands, but was unable to bind the action to the rudder pedals. The rudder works, DCS recognizes a press on the left rudder and then right rudder. Just doesn't see the toe-breaks. Kinda frustrating.
  17. Yes, but you being a dummy clued me in to the fact that I am as well! ;) And further, proving that I am really a dummy, when you get to binding the switches to game actions, the Taurus Base with all of its switches and the F-18 Throttle handle with its buttons each have separate columns in the 'Controls' table. If you highlight the cell for a particular action within the wrong column, it doesnt work! I am still trying to find out why I cant get 'wheel breaks' on my rudder, but that is not Winwing.
  18. It was this!
  19. Thank you gentleman both! When I get home I will see if potentially I can figure out what the heck I am doing wrong. Your assistance is appreciated.
  20. I will check out 'wheelbrake' when I get home. Thank you very much. This software is so detailed and complex, it makes it difficult for the layman to figure out how to get going!
  21. Okay, I spoke too soon... the panel lights up real pretty when it is plugged in... but none of the switches will bind. Help Please,
  22. It took several months with the global pandemic going on, but I he and I did stay in communication during that timeframe. The gentleman would not take payment prior to having them ready. I finally receive confirmation they were finished, I paid him via PayPal and the rudders shipped out immediately. They arrived within a week. I will say that they are absolutely fabulous, the workmanship is incredible! Okay, for those who also own a set... I simply plugged them in to the computer and DCS automatically had them mapped to my controls; at least the left and right rudder. The toe breaks however are not, almost certain that I need to bind them to my controls. At least I hope that is all. I type in 'Toe Break' in my action 'search' in hopes of narrowing down the location, but find nothing. Anyone know the DCS Action name for 'Toe Breaks' and/or where to bind?
  23. My goodness, I am so glad that I found your thread here! I guess it is fair to say that you are not the only dummy... I've been working on this problem for a couple weeks now, to no avail! Oh, there are two data connections? Makes sense since they did ship me two cords...
  24. Found it, and the 'Sim' mode does list thousands, thank you! I think that I've got the stick and rudders for the most part set. Unfortunately, I am struggling still to binding most of the switches on the Winwing Taurus Throttle. Comm 1 and Comm 2 on the throttle bound, no problem. Airbreak out and retract, no problem. TDC select - depressed the hat and it bound as TDC Depress; however TDC right, left, up, down by sliding the hat around ... no dice. None of the extra switches on the throttle can I get to bind such as Engine Crank L and R, Fuel Probe Ext and Retr, Fuel Dump, etc. Biggest thing is that I am not able to get the thrust to bind and that is the #1 thing you need to have on a throttle or else, well it isn't really a throttle! Anyone have experience with Winwing throttle?
  25. Thank you, I will try that when I get home. I currently do have the "Game Avionics Mode" turned on as to allow for the "Gameplay" options and missions - it was my understanding that was the detail and that 'sim' was the Artificial Intelligence level stuff.
