  1. OOPS... sorry.. got it.. This thread has gotten very convoluted.
  2. Even for Moving Targets? Without TDC elsewhere from the MAV page, laser won't lock on movers for me. Everything else works. Thought this was your issue as well?
  3. I had that EXACT thing happen to me when trying to target an OIL RIG. I could target stationary vehicles in the same mission, but the "structure" objects refused to lock. I like to think it was my report that got it fixed, but probably not. NOW I can attack the Oil Rigs just fine without moving the TDC, but, like you, Moving targets are problematic AND even stationary vehicles can show the behavior intermittently. That is what makes this so insidious, everyone has DIFFERENT experiences.
  4. Also, I am sure you saw this item in the last OB release.for the F/A-18. ...which seems to be at least a TACIT acceptance by ED that the AGM-65E SHOULD be able to fire when MAV is SOI (aka TDC on Mav sensor) We just want some official word that MAV-E laser lock SHOULD or SHOULDN'T be dependent on the position of the TDC.
  5. Ahh I got you. Makes sense. EXCEPT, I just tried it (STABLE version) and even with TRIG boxed, the laser AUTO fired when I pickled. This was with a MAV-E not a GBU, but it shouldn't make a difference.I wouldn't have expected this. No JTAC involved here, but it shouldn't matter. The laser should either fire or not. TRIG_Boxed.trk
  6. I have a Cougar. Have experimented with using the Throttle RANGE knob for ZOOM, but I find that I really prefer TIR Z for ZOOM since I can snap my head up when, inevitably I find myself in a perilous attitude from being heads down for too long :)
  7. You should always either turn off the LTD/R when using a JTAC or set the LTD/R to a different code than the LST. There is no longer any need to box or use TRIG for anything but Buddy Lasing. The TPOD will autolase when Laser Guided Weapons are selected and the PICKLE button is pressed. I don't believe you can turn OFF the autolase function without turning off the LTD/R switch.
  8. But for many of us, it works or worked with the TDC in the MAV page some of the time, most of the time or all of the time. It is all over the place now where for some people it NEVER works. I believe the manual was written before SELF LASING was a thing and refers to a JTAC or Buddy Lase. IT says so on Pg 171 of the latest manual I have. I find the instructions given kind of incomprehensible by the current switchology. If you watch any of the later tutorial videos, they do not use that extra SCS movement. Here is a Grim Reaper video from June 2020 Start around 5:00 min
  9. Well I believe at this point the manual is out of date, and the issue is NOT commanding SLEW but actually getting the ON TARGET Seeker to lock on the laser. I thought it was fixed in the new patch (at least for me) but not quite. Here's a track I made with the spiffy new FTT mode of the AG Radar in the Open Beta. With TDC in the MAV page and Laser Firing (I was actually HOLDING DOWN the pickle this time) I waited till 3 miles before giving up and switching the TDC to the FLIR page whereupon it locked immediately and I could fire for effect. Interestingly, using an FTT track with the RADAR, the FLIR tracks the mover without the "normal" Point Track Symbology.. FTT_MavE.trk
  10. GMT is a way for the Doppler radar to detect and separate MOVING TARGETS from static ones. In GMT, you can see returns that represent only MOVERS.. then you can bug them and go into FTT for designation and tracking. By the way, at least for SHIPS, FTT is pretty cool! Once you have an FTT lock, you can switch to your FLIR and the FLIR will track the target (without the usual POINT TRACK symbology). You can even employ Laser Guided Weapons WITHOUT even bringing up the FLIR page as long as everything is set and you can GUESSTIMATE that you are still within FLIR tracking Parameters. Here's a track using AGM-65F, but I brought up the FLIR just for giggles. No need to have done it. There were lots of static Oil Rigs and other ships so it took me awhile to bug the mover.. FTT_MavF.trk
  11. Ahhh! Thanks for that.. so you still have to somehow target a mover from a MAP/EXP view in order to establish FTT (at this time)?
  12. Well, in one of my experiments, I was finding that I could get the Mav-E to behave correctly against Vehicles but when I tried it against a STRUCTURE (Oil Rig) I HAD to put TDC in the FLIR DDI. After the patch, I can now attack Oil Rigs with the TDC in the MAV page. In the short test I did, I could attack an Oil Rig, a Vehicle and another STRUCTURE added in the MB with the TDC in MAV page. So it SEEMS fixed for me..(with n=1) but not for everyone as imacken has posted
  13. I guess I will have to wait for a video, but thought I would ask. Part of the OB Update included FTT (Fixed Target Track?) for the AG Radar in the HORNET. Was very much looking forward to this! I could not see how to enter this mode, though. I tried cycling through with the AG RADAR MAP OSB to see if it would toggle, but I didn't get there. I guess since FTT is mentioned but not GMT, there is no specific GROUND MOVING TARGET radar mode yet, so for FTT, do we have to manage to find a mover as a Radar reflection in MAP or EXP modes and then bug it to enter FTT? Is GMT (and maybe SEA) coming as well? Thanks!
  14. CRAP.. sorry to hear that.. I was feeling good about it in limited testing with the OB after patch.
  15. Yes I mentioned that option above as well. Due to some inconsistencies in how the MAV was locking, I was tending to do it in 2 stages so I could observe when the lock occurred. Under normal conditions, just holding the pickle will fire the laser and fire the missile when all pre-conditions are met.
  16. FYI.. BIG OB update coming TODAY which will render my previous statement incorrect :) but as far as basic functionality, (Pickle vs. TRIG) there shouldn't be any changes. Might fix the TDC "bug" though..
  17. Thanks! I have my ZOOM set to the TIR Z axis so maybe that is the problem. When you say RESET TIR, do you mean RECENTER or am I missing another command. I have tried to PAUSE TIR, set zoom with keyboard and then resume/Recenter TIR with no joy, but I will try your method if I can duplicate ZOOM on another axis. It would be a life saver! (esp in the AV8B which glitches even worse than the Hornet)
  18. Looks like there might be some Relief in the new OB patch according to BIGNEWY on discord. Thinking it is related to these. I definitely experienced the one with the building, but hoping it also fixes the intermittent issue with "normal" targets. AGM-65E Will not fire on a building if the MAV is SOI - Fixed Weapon volume for AIM-9X adjustment - Fixed FPAS descent distance - Fixed Paddle switch and Pinkie button animation switched - Fixed TAC Menu does not show the weapon option unless the stores page has been selected - Fixed Fixed indication of AGM-65E Did some quick testing in the OB after today's update and it SEEMS to be fixed! Anxious to see if it is similarly working for others who were affected.
  19. I call SPOT when I actually lock onto the target with either the LST or the MAV. I prefer the LST. If you have a FLIR loaded, (recommended) use the LST to lock the target. LST/C must be set to the AFAC code. In this mission it is the default 1688 so you should be OK. Works better than the MAV, and then you also have a target designation possible to use other ordnance if needed. It is important to have the Tracker/Mav seeker very close to the supposed Laser spot. Seems to have worked for you once, so things should be working OK. Are you using ONLY the MAV seeker or are you using the LASER spot tracker in the TPOD? It helps to check the WSRC in the FLIR for a wider view for the spot tracker. Gives a larger area to search. What I do in that mission is actually DESIGNATE the target (WP 4) to get the FLIR looking in the area.OR put the FLIR in VVLSV and fly the VV over the general target area with LST active. If you have used the LST to get the initial spot, and it locks onto it, you are good for subsequent attacks as it is already looking in the right place. If you are trying to locate the spot only with the MAV seeker, you need to nose down so the MAV seeker inverted Triangle is sweeping over the target area. More difficult in my experience. IN THIS MISSION, all the targets are close together. Will try to post a TRK,but oddly, my recent TRK's don't play back correctly. Possibly because I installed the JTAC Lat/Long mod AFTER recording them. Removed the mod. Should play back ok.. Two passes using LST and initial spot via VVSLV maneuver. AFAC_AGM65E.trk
  20. YES. FWIW I basically only fly Stable. At the moment Stable and OB are pretty close.
  21. No need to box TRIG. The pickle button will auto-fire the laser. You can do it in two steps: PICKLE ->Observe LTD/R flashing-->Wait for LOCK--> PICKLE again, or just HOLD PICKLE and missile will come off the rails when locked and in range. Note: MANY of us have experienced a problem either constantly or intermittently where the MAV will not lock unless the TDC is on the FLIR (TPOD) page. Set LTD/R arm DESIGNATE a target with FLIR (make sure Laser code matches Maverick and Designator) TDC to MAV page. Uncage (may happen automatically esp. for the first missile) PICKLE once (OR HOLD) -> LTD/R will flash in HUD and FLIR. Wait for MAV to acquire the lock and show IN RANGE. PICKLE AGAIN (or HOLD above) YOU MAY HAVE TO MOVE TDC BACK TO FLIR to get the MAV TO LOCK as above. Not everyone has this issue.. FYI, the latest tutorials on YOUTUBE from Grim Reapers and Redkite show the new PICKLE for firing the laser and obsoleted TRIG (which is only needed for BUDDY LASING) (MAV-E at around 20 min) Also, see this thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/englis...gp-help-please
  22. For what it's worth, sometimes my TRACKIR goes wonky and I get a huge HUD with a magnified view of the radome and vanes as you describe. Don't know what causes it and re-centering doesn't help. Sometimes exiting and restarting DCS fixes it. I haven't ever messed with seat height, so, unless this is somehow switching itself vs. being a TRACKIR issue it may not be related in your case either.
  23. No scripting in this one, just the built in functions. I haven't begun learning that stuff either, though everyone says they work better than the stock JTAC tools.
  24. If you like, here is a little mission I put together in the Persian Gulf for practicing all sorts of AG Stuff. There is an AFAC/JTAC who will target some stationary APC's for you. You can fly A-10's, Hornets, Harriers and Vipers if you want. There is an F10 menu item that will allow you to spawn some SAM sites and Russian Corvettes for more target practice. It is a continual work in Progress so some things may still not be 100% tweaked. I have only flown the F/A-18 and AV-8B, so not sure how the others work. Hornet and Harrier have their radios pre-tuned in the Mission Builder, but frequencies are in the briefing. Attached a small TRK using the AFAC for GBU drops. The AFAC munitions call is set to AUTO, so they may request CANNON for the thin skinned vehicles. I also attached a version where the AFAC will ONLY request GUIDED ordnance so you get the call for GBU/MAV-E/MAV-F. I find with a mixed load of Mav-E and -F the AFAC will only call for Mav-E and then say no more targets. EDIT: Hmmm I just watched the TRK.. it bears no resemblance to the actual mission I flew so I removed it.
