  1. Saw this for the AV-8B NA. Anyone know what this means? Seemed like the last patch totally redid the AUTO mode.. did it get switched BACK? Or fix something else?
  2. Yeah, supposedly. I don't think the SHIP option PB does anything at the moment, though. I think they should work. I got them to work against a Tarantul Corvette moving at about the same speed, but, of course it was a much bigger target.
  3. So, since the latest OB which gave us the FTT radar track, it is easier to find and prosecute them with AGM. Look at your radar for faint-ish horizontal lines. Might take some doing to break out the Boghammers from other surface targets, but it is better than pure VID. Mea Culpa to using LABELS so I can try for a VVSLV lock with the FLIR, but you still need to convert it to a POINT TRACK which is a pain. Once you can get the FTT radar track, it will automatically slave the MAV/FLIR onto it and you can prosecute with AGM as usual. Found that -E's work a little better than -F's due to contrast issues as described above, but you need to watch the RANGE. If they are moving away at 29 knots, you need to wait some time after the initial IN RANGE cue to make sure the MAVERICK can follow them. NOTE: I've only done this in missions I setup for practice, Never did that campaign. In the MAV F track attached, I never got a CLEAN lock, but as it flickered between lock and Unlock I managed to get it off the rail
  4. Thanks for that! At one time I think I actually knew that. :smilewink:
  5. Very nice. Question, similar to the one I asked above: No longer any need to use the Laser Rangefinding to fine tune the target? TPOD is good enough? Also.. just about all the drops were showing a very low probability of hit but they ALL shacked pretty small targets! Not necessary to obsess of pickle near 100%?
  6. Yeah, thanks! I meant to mention that distinction around "multiple". On another note, as I was re-reading the Razbam notes above I was wondering about Step 8 and 9. Shouldn't you have to repeat Step 4 for the Laser Ranging after moving to a new target to update that for the new positions, esp. if it is far from the original?
  7. Thanks!
  8. Wondering if it is expected behavior that Mark Points disappear upon landing. Noticed this the other night when landing to re-arm and refuel and my Mark Points were gone. Tried it again and noticed that as soon as I touched down, (no rearm/refuel) the Mark Points similarly disappeared. (Created 2 Mark Points, so the HSI PB showed "MK3". After landing, it went back to "MK1" and the previous Mark Points 1 and 2 were no longer selectable.
  9. https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/licensed-third-party-projects/razbam/7121409-razbam-2020-q4-update JDAM relative targeting JDAM relative targeting, also known as TOO mode, has become more practical. Initially you had to designate a target with the TPOD, lase it, and then LONG WINC to pass the target coordinates to the bomb and then release it. If you wanted to drop another bomb to a different target in the same area, you had to LONG WINC to release the previous coordinates and then redo the entire procedure for the new target. That is NOT how it works on the real aircraft. The procedure to do a JDAM relative targeting is as follows:
  10. OOPS... sorry.. got it.. This thread has gotten very convoluted.
  11. Even for Moving Targets? Without TDC elsewhere from the MAV page, laser won't lock on movers for me. Everything else works. Thought this was your issue as well?
  12. I had that EXACT thing happen to me when trying to target an OIL RIG. I could target stationary vehicles in the same mission, but the "structure" objects refused to lock. I like to think it was my report that got it fixed, but probably not. NOW I can attack the Oil Rigs just fine without moving the TDC, but, like you, Moving targets are problematic AND even stationary vehicles can show the behavior intermittently. That is what makes this so insidious, everyone has DIFFERENT experiences.
  13. Also, I am sure you saw this item in the last OB release.for the F/A-18. ...which seems to be at least a TACIT acceptance by ED that the AGM-65E SHOULD be able to fire when MAV is SOI (aka TDC on Mav sensor) We just want some official word that MAV-E laser lock SHOULD or SHOULDN'T be dependent on the position of the TDC.
  14. Ahh I got you. Makes sense. EXCEPT, I just tried it (STABLE version) and even with TRIG boxed, the laser AUTO fired when I pickled. This was with a MAV-E not a GBU, but it shouldn't make a difference.I wouldn't have expected this. No JTAC involved here, but it shouldn't matter. The laser should either fire or not. TRIG_Boxed.trk
  15. I have a Cougar. Have experimented with using the Throttle RANGE knob for ZOOM, but I find that I really prefer TIR Z for ZOOM since I can snap my head up when, inevitably I find myself in a perilous attitude from being heads down for too long :)
  16. You should always either turn off the LTD/R when using a JTAC or set the LTD/R to a different code than the LST. There is no longer any need to box or use TRIG for anything but Buddy Lasing. The TPOD will autolase when Laser Guided Weapons are selected and the PICKLE button is pressed. I don't believe you can turn OFF the autolase function without turning off the LTD/R switch.
  17. But for many of us, it works or worked with the TDC in the MAV page some of the time, most of the time or all of the time. It is all over the place now where for some people it NEVER works. I believe the manual was written before SELF LASING was a thing and refers to a JTAC or Buddy Lase. IT says so on Pg 171 of the latest manual I have. I find the instructions given kind of incomprehensible by the current switchology. If you watch any of the later tutorial videos, they do not use that extra SCS movement. Here is a Grim Reaper video from June 2020 Start around 5:00 min
  18. Well I believe at this point the manual is out of date, and the issue is NOT commanding SLEW but actually getting the ON TARGET Seeker to lock on the laser. I thought it was fixed in the new patch (at least for me) but not quite. Here's a track I made with the spiffy new FTT mode of the AG Radar in the Open Beta. With TDC in the MAV page and Laser Firing (I was actually HOLDING DOWN the pickle this time) I waited till 3 miles before giving up and switching the TDC to the FLIR page whereupon it locked immediately and I could fire for effect. Interestingly, using an FTT track with the RADAR, the FLIR tracks the mover without the "normal" Point Track Symbology.. FTT_MavE.trk
  19. GMT is a way for the Doppler radar to detect and separate MOVING TARGETS from static ones. In GMT, you can see returns that represent only MOVERS.. then you can bug them and go into FTT for designation and tracking. By the way, at least for SHIPS, FTT is pretty cool! Once you have an FTT lock, you can switch to your FLIR and the FLIR will track the target (without the usual POINT TRACK symbology). You can even employ Laser Guided Weapons WITHOUT even bringing up the FLIR page as long as everything is set and you can GUESSTIMATE that you are still within FLIR tracking Parameters. Here's a track using AGM-65F, but I brought up the FLIR just for giggles. No need to have done it. There were lots of static Oil Rigs and other ships so it took me awhile to bug the mover.. FTT_MavF.trk
  20. Ahhh! Thanks for that.. so you still have to somehow target a mover from a MAP/EXP view in order to establish FTT (at this time)?
  21. Well, in one of my experiments, I was finding that I could get the Mav-E to behave correctly against Vehicles but when I tried it against a STRUCTURE (Oil Rig) I HAD to put TDC in the FLIR DDI. After the patch, I can now attack Oil Rigs with the TDC in the MAV page. In the short test I did, I could attack an Oil Rig, a Vehicle and another STRUCTURE added in the MB with the TDC in MAV page. So it SEEMS fixed for me..(with n=1) but not for everyone as imacken has posted
  22. I guess I will have to wait for a video, but thought I would ask. Part of the OB Update included FTT (Fixed Target Track?) for the AG Radar in the HORNET. Was very much looking forward to this! I could not see how to enter this mode, though. I tried cycling through with the AG RADAR MAP OSB to see if it would toggle, but I didn't get there. I guess since FTT is mentioned but not GMT, there is no specific GROUND MOVING TARGET radar mode yet, so for FTT, do we have to manage to find a mover as a Radar reflection in MAP or EXP modes and then bug it to enter FTT? Is GMT (and maybe SEA) coming as well? Thanks!
  23. CRAP.. sorry to hear that.. I was feeling good about it in limited testing with the OB after patch.
  24. Yes I mentioned that option above as well. Due to some inconsistencies in how the MAV was locking, I was tending to do it in 2 stages so I could observe when the lock occurred. Under normal conditions, just holding the pickle will fire the laser and fire the missile when all pre-conditions are met.
