Training mission is out of date. In order to use AUTO (CCRP) with any munition you MUST have the DESG boxed on the EHSD..

can no longer reproduce [REPORTED]Issues with AGM-65E and TGP
Recluse replied to Sn8ke's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yes, I used to always press pickle and wait for the laser to lock, mainly because when I was having the issue, it would never leave the rails when holding it down, so I was being careful to make sure there was a lock. Now that I have confidence, I will just hold down PICKLE when ready to fire and let the missile decide it is ready to go. Either way works. -

As noted in another thread on the main forum, I saw a different behavior in the current patch. This was against static target. I didn't try MOVERS which is where I mainly had the "MOVE TDC AWAY FROM MAVE PAGE TO LOCK" Instead of doing a sequential PICKLE...wait for solid box...pickle, I held down the pickle. PREVIOUSLY the MAVE would not come off the rails if there wasn't a solid laser track. NOW it seemed that holding down pickle, the MAVE left the rails and immediately AFTER launch the solid box and MAV LKED symbology appeared and the missile tracked to the target, though I might argue the MAV LKED was for the NEXT missile on the rail.. Maybe the LOCK was simultaneous with the release for the first missile, but never saw MAV LKED until the first one was off the rails. Sorry for the long ingress.. I need to set up a better test mission. EDIT: Just tried it with a MOVER and it worked just the same. Holding down pickle with TDC on MAV page fired the missile and it tracked to the target. So for me, it seems the issue is resolved, though I have not tried the SEQUENTIAL pickle to see if it picks up the laser first. MAVE_Jan2021.trk -
Haven't tried with GBU-24, but it SHOULD work like other LGB's against moving targets: Point Track with TPOD or get a GMTT Radar track (which will keep the TPOD on target as well). Lase throughout the flight. I guess GBU-24 requires TRIG to fire laser throughout.

But you can set the proper ICLS Channel from the UFC with the ILS button.

So, just thought I would post this observation: Did a bunch of AGM-65E attacks. Previously I had been doing it sequentially. One press of the pickle..wait for the solid box and fire the missile. It was under these conditions that the "no lock with TDC in MAV page" issue arose. After the latest patches, I have been doing the HOLD THE PICKLE DOWN method. What I noticed was (with TDC in MAV page) the Missile actually came off the rails BEFORE I saw the solid laser lock, but the solid box and lock appeared very shortly after the missile left the rails. Previously it would NOT come off before a MAV LKED indication. Kind of odd. Wondering if others are seeing this behavior now??

You can SLIDE the view over to view those hidden buttons with RSHIFT-RCTRL-numpad (4 or 6) Key I think you can define a Snap View as well, but I haven't ever tried it. Agreed that TRACK-IR is the way to go, but sometimes I can't quite get the "Gangsta Lean" right...

So when I have seen the DMT slewing really fast, LATELY it always seems to have switched to INS mode. This often happens after a handoff to IRMAV. SSS Aft to go back to TV mode and the slew should return to normal. Might be other things going on, but this is what I have noticed lately.
-
So it depends on how you are using the Maverick. I just did a quick test using Methods 1 and 2 1- Using Maverick Sensor ALONE: Select IR MAV.. Wait until RDY. UNCAGE. Sensor Select Switch UP so IRMAV shows in the Mav Video Slew to your desired target. Should automatically snap to a target with sufficient contrast and LOCK (brackets collapse) when IN RANGE. 2- Using DMT or TPOD: If using a WP to get the sensor close to the target, hit DESG on the EHSD. Then slew the sensor appropriately to get to the target. Select IR MAV. Wait until RDY. UNCAGE. Sensor Select Switch UP so IRMAV shows in the MAV Video. Mav should be pointing at the target from the other sensor. TDC DEPRESS to lock up the MAV (or you can try slewing slightly. Often the brackets won't collapse to a lock until well in range. 3- Using DMT or TPOD to select a target by pointing the Velocity Vector or slewing the HUD indicator. Same as above, but remember to box DESG on the EHSD (I THINK this is needed to get the target selected as the SYSTEM DESIGNATION for handoff).

Yeah it affects different people different ways. For me, it seems to work fine with MAV SOI for any Stationary target, but if I am targeting a mover (vehicle or ship) I HAVE to move the TDC away from the MAV page.

...and still marked CANNOT REPRODUCE and doesn't seem to be any clarity on the TRUE switchology for this Guess just do what works!

Umm, I use 1776 all the time. Might not have tried since the LATEST little OB patch, but I didn't see anything there about laser code changes. Is this not still correct: 1st Digit: 1 2nd Digit:5-7 3rd Digit: 1-8 4th Digit: 1-8

[CANNOT REPRODUCE]Lost HOTAS function for MavF IRMAV
Recluse replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in Bugs and Problems
Unclear from your description, BUT if you have a target DESIGNATED by TPOD/HUD etc, you will not be able to slew the Maverick Seeker. You need to UNDESIGNATE first, then you can slew the MAV-F. (Assuming TDC is assigned to the MAV page, of course) -
OK, so you are saying for GBU-32 drop against stationary targets, GO LONG? i.e. let the LAR counter pass 100 and count back down to 70? I honestly haven't messed with the LJDAM or moving targets, just want to get the 1000 pounder on targets that are too tough for the GBU-38's. Edit: SWEET! That worked just fine. 4/4 hits with GBU-32. Two PP and Two TOO. I waited till the initial 100 counted back down to between 60 and 70, so the "5 -7 o'clock" that Longiron mentioned looks about right. One of these days we will figure out what those numbers really mean w/re to LAR. Maybe they have more meaning when we get Terminal guidance settings. This time I paid attention to the LAR circles on the EHSD as well. and noted that it was still well between MAX and MIN ranges. Thanks to both of you. I am a happy JDAMer now!

Thanks! Care to share Elmo's tips for GBU-32 and the Proper "Funnel" aspect? I have had little success at ~65 which seems to work for GBU-38 and variable success at ~97-100. I seem to have SLIGHTLY better success doing TOO drops vs. F10 ATHS PP drops (maybe because DMT/FLIR is more precise than than the map markers). Also interestingly, I found that dropping 4 PP GBU-38 from F10 CAS points in the current STABLE version worked much better than the current Open Beta, but GBU-38 were the opposite.

Dear Harrier Drivers, This is marked RESOLVED/USER ERROR over in the other section: Just wanted to get a sense of how many folks might be seeing this to figure out if it is a bug or machine specific thing. I can drop GBU-38 all day long and get hits from either TOO or PP (F10 ATHS) modes so I think I have the switchology and procedure right. However, with the GBU-32, it ALMOST always drops way short. In TOO mode, I can OCCASIONALLY get a hit waiting for the countdown to go to ~95-97 into the LAR, but in PP mode, I cannot seem to hit no matter what. By contrast, I usually drop GBU-38 at about 65 on the LAR counter. Just wanted to get a sense of whether this was widespread or not. Thanks!

And soon, at least initially for the GBU-24 as well

I think he meant that LGB must be configured to AUTO for AUTO-LASE to work. To use in CCIP, the TRIG has to be used to fire the laser...

Note: the GRIDS are really huge! When you are zoomed in on the F10 map you'll see a lot of grids marked, e.g. CQ60, CQ70 etc.. Zoom way out and you will see GRID CQ covers a lot of territory. Those first 2 letters are all you need. If a JTAC gives them to you you can select the grid and punch them right in (6 digits). If you want to find a place on the map by yourself, you can hit PRECISE and type in all 10, but it you want to use 6, be advised to take the FIRST 3 digits from the first data block and the FIRST 3 digits from the second as your SIX. e.g. CQ68871 09532 You would punch in 688095 after selecting grid CQ when not in PRECISE mode. If you are not getting the entry screen after TDC Depress on the correct GRID square, there is something odd with your mappings possibly. Here's another good video..showing the whole JTAC scenario.

Post a .TRK and maybe somebody can catch the problem

Has MAP Marked Target procedure also changed?
Recluse replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in AV-8B N/A
OOPS I did forget one thing... With the NEW AUTO bombing mode... In order to get the JDAM symbology on the HUD for release, you MUST hit DESG on the EHSD. Doesn't matter if you DESG a WP, the JDAM will follow their CAS targets. I attached a TRK.. I kind of rushed through it, so excuse my flying...but all the pieces were there. (TRK made in latest Open Beta, so it might not play back correctly in STABLE version) AV8B_JDAM_CAS.trk And here is a Video with the NEW process including EHSD Designate if you prefer.. -

They will not CYCLE in AG. You have to Select JDAM, then CLICK TGT on the ODU (hmm don't remember what it is called but it is the Display above the LEFT DDI) and then select the targets. It is best to do this ON THE GROUND before takeoff, otherwise there are additional steps you need to take to assign the CAS page targets. This video is still correct as far as my experience except for the need to EHSD DESIGNATE which is in the video from the next post.. Everything else if the same here to load the targets into CAS page and to select them for the JDAM. -

You need the T00 marker in the general area. T01 - T10 on top of desired targets. Go to Kneeboard, and RALT+RSHTF+8 to load. Go to CAS page and click RCALL (this looks like what you were missing). You should see them Load in the CAS PAGE. Then go too JDAM Setup page and click the TGT option and check off each target you want to program for the JDAMS. The INCREMENT WAYPOINT LONG isn't used for PP targets, only TOO targets marked in Flight. -
It will be in your HSI and HUD when the Carrier TACAN is selected. I guess it is assumed that the Pilot would have that information and thus reports their position when inbound so Mother knows where all her Chicks are.
