I want to get a new videocard soon. I have a BFG 7800 GTX OC, but I'd like to get one of the newer DX10 cards.

Can somebody please host the other movie files as well? After downloading the first video from Rapidshare, it says I have downloaded my limit for the day. Now I can't download any of the other movies. Thx!

Black Shark Graphics, updated?
JG27_Arklight replied to Callsign.Vega's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Are you referring to the fact that the Intel Core Duo is dual core? Because FSX does NOT fully support dual core technology. In fact, I think FSX hardly even utilizes the 2nd core. That's one of the complaints from some of the forum members over at Avsim. -

List all the free 3d models here:
JG27_Arklight replied to SuperKungFu's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Earlier in the thread, some folks had mentioned using models from other games, even payware FS models. Using models from FS or SFP1 or ANY other game and distributing them is usually prohibited without consent from the authors. As far as payware from FS is concerned, you can probably kiss that idea goodbye. I don't know of ANY 3rd party payware developers from FS that will allow you use their models in this game and distribute them to people. If you own a payware product and want to mess with it for your own use, I don't think there's any issues with that (I'm not totally sure though). But if you want to distribute it, that's a whole other story, and is usually illegal. I would highly recommend not using models from other people and putting them into LOMAC and distributing them over here without their consent. With regards to payware FS models, I wouldn't even waste my time asking the developers if you could use them. Just a heads up. :) P.S. If somebody already mentioned this stuff in the thread, than my apologies for repeating what they said. -
OT: If you though LOMAC fps was bad....
JG27_Arklight replied to ARM505's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
If they could have left them in the same order I'm sure they would have. I know there are seperate folders for aircraft, animals, rotorcraft, boats, ground vehicles, and misc, all within the Simobjects folder. They may have done this so it is easier to keep track of add-ons and whatnot, but that is just a guess. -

The aircraft are in the Simobjects folder now, along with some of the other object additions. As far as them not really thinking this product through, how current add-ons are installed in this product is a moot issue since current products were not designed for FSX. Just because an exe file can be installed directly, doesn't mean the product will function if the add-on was not designed to work with it. FSX seems to be coded, or set up, a little differently with regards to some things (guages, etc..). FS2004 add-ons were designed to work with FS2004, not FSX. However, some of them seem to function just fine, you just have to "ok" the guages when you fly them for the first time (Carenado 206 and 182Q for instance). :) -

I get about 25-35 fps with FSX with almost all settings maxed (except autogen and view distance) at 1600x1200 with 4xFSAA and 8xAF. I don't really have any issues with anything other than autogen. I'm really enjoying FSX. :) -
Great vid!! Am I the only one who also wants to fly a Cobra? Everything looks great.

For Helo's check out Hovercontrol.com and Nemeth Designs. Do a search at Avsim.com for David Friswell, Bjorn Buchner, Andreas Meyer, and Dave Garwood (He has some GREAT freeware!). David Garwood has some of the best freeware military aircraft I have seen. He does some very nice work. Hope this helps. :) -

Alphasim is only one place that caters to the military crowd. There's also Iris, and RAZBAM, not to mention some nice freeware out there. Search Avsim.com as well as Flightsim.com. Iris Simulations has a nice Mig-29, Mig-27, and other aircraft. -
"Worth" is relative. Some of the add-ons for FS are more expensive than that. lol

I beleive most of the buttons are clickable in the VC as well on the AS F-18. She sure does look nice. :)

So, basically, it's been February 2006, March 2006, April 2006, Autumn 2006, now it's the beginning of 2007? Lmao ED is lucky they aren't EA and this isn't a BF add-on. The BF community would linch them. lol We all don't know the actual release date, but I'd be lieing if I didn't say I was disappointed. Especially considering the complete lack of updates from ED.

The readme also talks about the aircraft animations. ;) The MS Dev. Blog link I posted above is nice to read up on what's going on in development.

On a side note, MS Dev. Blog: http://blogs.msdn.com/tdragger/ :)

Mine doesn't look like that. : /

Then you don't know many people. lol :D

You're to pessimistic. lol
-
You gotta read the readme. ;) The scenery, aircraft textures, aircraft LODs, "Bloom", and a bunch of other stuff is still a WIP. The VC Gauges seem a lot smoother now. There's a pretty good increase in that area, which is very nice. Being able to do IFR approaches in minimums will be good. Guys, the Demo is a BETA. There is still quite a few things they are still working on per the readme and the Dev. guys. The Demo, while nice, is of course not "great", but it is an improvement over FS9. Once they get the stuff fixed that needs to be fixed I'm sure it will get better. With the addition of Vista and DirectX 10 later it will only get better. Give it time folks. It really isn't fair to judge a product based on a time limited, single area, beta version.

I'd have to disagree. Hype is what creates interest. Interest is what creates sales. Sales is what creates revenue. Revenue is what creates future sims and increased development resources. Saying they don't want to hype a product because they don't want people to be disappointed is like saying they don't want people to know about it because they know it isn't very good. If hardly anybody knows about it, then hardly anybody will buy it.
-
I'm more interested in seeing how the Demo will look when utilizing DX9 compared to how FS9 looks now. As much as I like FS9, I'd like to see a big improvement in FS10 utilizing current generation hardware, and not only next generation.
