Just ordered mine on back orders, without controllers since I don't intend to play any other games than DCS in the near future, it will do. My provider (SystemActive) sent me an email: That would be nice, since I'm gonna have to use my 1080Ti for some times... ......

Did any of you tried to use AMD Ryzen Master?

Pagefiles are best set on a separate HD than the O.S, typically twice the RAM size, I have a 500GB Samsung V-NAND SSD exclusively dedicated for gaming and page files (98304 mb), with only DCS Client and DCS O.B installed, it is obviously way faster than my SSDs so it contribute to reduced latency and other issues due to page files...

Blah. I had both and I had drivers issues with both.

Custom RX 6800 and 6800 XT graphics card announced
Thinder replied to Thinder's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I had a MSI card recently (Radeon RX 5500 XT MECH 8G OC) which I exchanged for a more powerful second hand (new in fact but half-price at CEX) EVGA GEFORCE GTX 1080Ti 11GB, I had no complain about built quality, the reason why I go with MSI is simple, I have an account with them, and already run an MSI motherboard and I experienced the responsiveness of their support (UK) when I was asking questions about running VR with their products. Best example is the support I have for my motherboard (B450 GAMING PLUS MAX), which will see a BIOS update in a couple of month to add support for the new AMD CPU and GPU, not every maker standard, plus for below £90, it's by far the best motherboard I never used since Pentium II, building my PC myself, last, I purchased a CLUTCH GM20 ELITE mouse on 23.10.2020, it's a very good product for the price... I use MSI Afterburner which I find more convenient to use than Nvidia Precision, some other apps such as MSI GAMING LAN Manager are also useful. -
Assumption is the mother of all you know what. I just watched a video where a user turns off Windows Mixed Reality, and I have a simple question for you. Once you had your hardware installed, did you try to launch DCS in VR mode to see if your headset was detected? As far as I know, you guys only followed the manual by the letter, meaning O.S update if it wasn't done already, download of those Apps FIRST, but never really figured if users not willing to use controllers would be able to do without them while playing DCS, meaning not needing those apps, and since it is exactly what I intend to do because there is a £120 difference between the two options offered by my provider, I might have a lot more expertise than you do after weeks of researches and hundred of questions asked, here is what I figured so far. 1) You CAN play DCS without controllers with the G2. 2) Windows Mixed reality, SteamVR and windows mixed reality for SteamVR are support Apps for controllers compatible with more VR headets than the G2, in fact controllers are a niche for Windows Mixed reality, it is not meant to replace native drivers. 3) You can turn Windows Mixed reality off, as some users does, it will still work perfectly. 4) According to the Set Up guide manual (Step 1), you don't need Steam VR to initiate the process of installing the G2, connecting the headset to your PC will automatically launch the connection to the mixed reality portal (you need to be online), there not a single word about installing Windows Mixed reality previous to this step and apart that it might start the download of drivers and firmware for it no mention of it needed to run the G2 once this have been done. This answers avgyst question as to the necessity of installing Steam VR, it is not necessary. https://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/GetDoc...e=4AA7-5420ENW 5) I haven't seen anyone who conducted serious testing of the headset so far on this particular topic, so I'd advise those who are saying otherwise to try this: Disable Windows Mixed reality and Steam, start DCS. I'm not sure you're willing to do that but it will be the very first thing i do in a few weeks when I got mine, because I do without Steam and I'm pretty sure I is possible to do without Windows Mixed reality, in short, before installing anything, I check if I can do without. Cheers. [video=youtube_share;-KNk_wovPXo]

This not what your article says, all it says is: So as I was saying, you have access to more of what is available on the web but this doesn't mean you need it to run the headset and play DCS with it, more to the point it is meant for use of controllers for gaming or other apps, but I have been confirmed by a user that to play DCS, you DONT need controllers, you simply can use a mouse which is what I intend to do, it will save me 120 quid.

Compatibility doesn't mean it is WMR or that it needs it or Steam VR to run a game. In any case I'll have the answer as soon as my supplier support will answer my questions, but even before that I am skeptical, they can't sell a headset without the necessary software to run it, and if one or the other was necessary for it, it would be already integrated in the support software. This is not the case. Here is what HP have to say about compatibility.

I don't know what difference it would make between the Oculus CV1 I am using now and the G2, but for your info, I use neither Windows mixed reality nor steam VR and it works just fine for me. The only apps I'm using at the moment are Oculus Tray Tool, MSI Afterburner, and AMD Ryzen Master, plus I saw several videos of G2 users, some mentioned the functionality of Steam VR but never Windows Mixed reality. HP mentions those app for "access across all VR content", they do not say that you need them for a game you already have installed running just fine with another headset, they also say that it is compatible with them, not that you need them, so I have contacted System Active support and asked them. https://systemactive.co.uk/online/product-category/hp/hp-reverb-g2/

The information for playing DCS on steam are pn their website. From what I know (I have a steam account) they give a good support for DCS and even the G2, I am not using it at the moment because I use a CV1 and I don't play any other game apart for DCS, so I don't need steam, but you can install Steam and I think they provide with some good features for both DCS and G2.

Even if France have been the second country in the world to use DOPPLER radar operationally after the USA (F-111) with the Mirage 3E, the truth is that due to slow development, late 1970s, France's avionics lagged a full generation behind that of the USA and that's a 4 years cycle for you from R&D to industrialization, even before decision is taken (or not) to deploy a new technology down to Squadron level. Thanks to intensive efforts and companies like Thales and DGA strong R&D policies, this have changed, but it doesn't mean that what works on lab benches is sent straight away to squadrons to use, it takes time, upgrades, updates and most of it has to be financially supported by export sales because it is never fully funded at government level, see the Rafale situation where deliveries are prioritized in favor of export while AdlA sees Mirage 2000 upgrades... The primary roles of the Mirage 2000 were interception and air superiority, it never was conceived as a multi-role in the first place, so I'm quite sure that all the A2G bits and bobs weren't introduced before a few years from its service entry date, that's 1984 (M53-5/RDM), priority was given to its primary roles, and during the 1990 Gulf war, all AdlA air-to-ground missions were conducted by Jaguars and Mirage F-1 CRs while Mirage F-1 Cs and 2000C were used for point Air Defense And air Superiority respectively. RAZBAM Mirage 2000C is a RDI 1987 model, upgraded and with updated software to be on par with what AdlA uses today so that they can complement the training of their pilots at Squadron level, in no case is it representative of the early 80's aircraft, AdlA used the RAZBAM model even before the cockpit update and gave them enough feedback to improve the model to their liking. https://moovely.fr/larmee-de-lair-fr...d-mirage-2000/

It was worth it for me, I learned valuable thing that even HP retailers didn't let out, after calling them and emailing them: One doesn't have to use the G2 controllers to access the G2 menus, one can do it with a mouse, which means, I can order it this month and it will save me £120, which is <> an extra 32GB of RAM...

May I ask which motherboard (including maker) you're using? Thanks!

Granted, I might not buy a B450 today, but I certainly don't regret my choice. I keep saying it, for below 90 quids, it's by far the best board I never used, way better than some boards costing up to twice this price, so considering what I can do with it; using the Ryzen 5000 after a BIOS update, Gen2(PCI_E4), DDR 4 4000/ 4133 MHz (by A-XMP OC MODE) up to 128GB, support for new GPU, why would I bother even considering upgrading? I used my previous motherboard from 01/06/2017 to 23/06/2020 and it was a OK up to the point when I started to play online games, from then on, I was on the path to upgrades only to keep up with the increasing demands on players caused by constant changes in standard and minimum requirements, you complain about DCS? Try War Gaming... Considering the investments I've made just to be able to play DCS, then go to VR, the B450 GAMING PLUS MAX was by far the best choice I could make when I needed to upgrade my previous board and I don't think I could have done it going with Intel. I used Athlon 400 with DDR 3, upgraded my PSU for a Corsair 750W, changed my GPU for a Radeon RX 5500 XT MECH 8G OC when it failed, then got this motherboard, a Ryzen 5 3600X and a 10180 Ti 11Gb with 32 BG of DDR 400 3200. Although I managed to resell some of the old stuff to CEX, got the 1080 Ti cheaper than new from CEX (with exchange for my Radeon RX 5500 X) it has been a lot of money spent in this machine just to make it VR capable, and I don't mention new case and fans, what the AMD solution allowed me to do was to get most of it cheaper for equivalent performances, the Ryzen 5 3600X is an excellent processor and since the next step is the Reverb G2 I'll have the opportunity to test-bench this PC before the next upgrade, probably an AMD Radeon™ RX 6800, although I'm not sure of the final choice yet. So Again what matters is value for money when you're on a budget.

Mutiple sources says the same thing, older chipsets needs BIOS update, Intel like AMD, there is no difference here, only to me as I pointed out, it means that I will be able to use my actual cooler, (a very good Artic 7X ) and use a GPU with a TDP up to 30W higher than my actual 1080Ti 11GB, it won't cost me an extra penny in PSU upgrade even if i O.C it, being 30% more energy efficient and I still will have the same power output margin than today. And btw, it will run 16% faster O.C quad-core speed than my actual Ryzen 5 3600X and being cooler, I won't have any issue with my actual cooling solution which already runs cool while O.C, so WHY on hearth would I chose Intel over AMD today? Interestingly the more expensive Intel’s Core i7-9700K doesn't run circles around the Ryzen 5 5600X in gaming despite having 2 more cores, which debunk the whole "OMG less cores?" narrative, it only proved that those who bashed this processor knew nothing about how it works.

You keep talking like you know better and keep being proven wrong. Just quit, you just waste good forum space.

"made purposedly for the whole 9th gen line of Intel"... They still required a BIOS update mattey, it's even worse than the B450 which weren't designed for this generation of CPU and still will support them, and stop projecting will you? As i said, exactly the same situation as is the case of the B450 series, only worse, on your own admission. Sure thing, enough B.S. With BIOS update, the X470 and B450 will have been supporting 7 different AMD processors...
