You could READ before replying with a lecture... Which part of hacking didn't you comprehend? It's not a virus, it was a hack starting with a security alert from Yahoo (several over the years actually), thousand of account have been hacked, nothing to do with people browsing habits but the complete lack of effisiency of Windows 10 "protection". That's reality for you, you can try to do their promotional work for them, it won't make Microsoft better, the last time they released a GOOD update was with Windows 95, last time they released a good O.S was Win Professional. Since they've been concerned about adding home wifes and secretaries multimedia applications completely useless to professionals or players and controlling the way everyone, includinh pros, uses their O.S. If you want to use Windows 10 Pro efficiently for the 3D indutry you have to spend hours getting their little gizmos to stop messing with your memory management, if they had sp[ent half this time doing a proper firewall and antivirus job, we would know, just saying. The problem is 100% with geezers like you who give them undue credit and don't learn anytrhing from professionals who had to use Windows for a living, I'll stick with Alan Marques opinion, he transitioned the movie and gaming industry from Silicon Valley £35.000/seat licence to the PC platform, opened several 3D studios and help CINETIX develop 3 DS Max from release 4, since we were building our own PCs, I think we know very well the true value of Windows O.S and it's not the Disneylandish picture you guys are painting. As for the guilt culture, sorry, but I don't subscribe....

You want me to trust more a multi-billion trust who is more concerned about controlling how I use a product I pay for than making it better? One of the most advanced guys I worked with, head of my 3D dpt keep telling us, "Windows is designed to screw you", too true, and it's getting worse at every update. The same can be said about Microsoft than any croock trying to sell "protection", at least, among small, companies, some of them depends on the quality of their work, something Microsoft forgot long ago, and one more thing, the reason I gave up on trusting them is precisely because when it comes to serious threat, their gizmos doesn't work.

TotalAV. Windows 10 is a joke when it comes to "protection", any botmaker knows first thing how to go through it like a hot needle through butter. My system have been hacked several times while using this O.S, so you're far better off disabling everything for the stake of your memory management and install a proper and optimized antivirus package, at least there is a proper threat update coming with them, it's their job, not that of Microsoft.

You might want to try this, next month I'll pre-order mine and will have to wait like everyone else...

If you can justify the difference in price, £1,685 minimum in the UK, vs £529.99 for a MSI Radeon RX 6800 XT, I don't think the difference in performances is worth 99.68% in cost difference. Note that the MSI Radeon RX 6800 XT is not one of their TRIO serie but the AMD stock, reference card, in any case, it doesn't perform 99.68% slower than the Evga Geforce Rtx 2080 Ti Kingpin, barely 20 FPS average without Raytracing in most games, <> 34%...

Shopping around: https://www.newegg.com/global/uk-en/p/pl?N=101582767 601359427&Order=1 If you're not after top end, you can find the MSI Radeon RX 6800 for below £650 (my pick), or other make from £554.39, but of course none of them are available right now. Since the GPU is my next upgrade, I keep and eye on their availability, I already contacted a few manufacturer supports, no one knows when they'll have them in stock...##

Will this machine be enought for HP Rerverb
Thinder replied to Extra330SC's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It should be enough unless you want to run the game at 90FPS in the most demanding maps. That said, I had to ship my G2 back because it was faulty, I want anotyher one but apparently none is available in the UK just yet. -

LOL! You don't want ot know how many HD I've burned before putting dots together. We all learn some way not always the easy way, and what I said to you I didn't know it with such precision before I asked support for those RAM sticks, so no reason for you to feel bad, let's hope it will solve your issue... -
Recovery/Repair Blue Screen After New RAM install
Thinder replied to pimp's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Did you check your system compatibility with the new RAM? Manufacturers doesn't always use the same chips from a batch to the other one for the same RAM kit, it is possible that the different chip causestyhe issue or two different chips does it too, if you procured 2 X !6 GB in two different kits instead of 1 single 2 X 16GB kit; see the quote below from Euro Tech about G.SKILL Trident Z Neo kits. Check your new RAM chip serial numbers, everntually, try them separately... -
Question regarding new Computer
Thinder replied to KyrilKron's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I disagree, he needs to bound CPG and GPU, so if the 3600 series are good prrocessors (I ran a 3600X for 5 month) they are a lot more limited in this regard, the charts doesn't tell you everything. But since you like charts here is one, a few hours of fiddling with my brand new 5600X and I managed this in CPU-Z, you can compare, it's performances one Core, the CPU wasn't O.Ced, I just used Ryzen Master Boost mode. -
Ryzen 5 5600x for DCS VR?
Thinder replied to HoneyBadger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Did you try Re-size BAR? Since I updated my BIOS I now have this feature on my BIOS settings, I believe you'll need a GPU driver that supports it but I don't have details on that, so I downloaded the latest Game-Ready driver from NVIDIA, you'll also need to check on Windoiws support (updates), not sure about the result though. Ryzen 5 5600x for DCS VR?
Thinder replied to HoneyBadger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Interesting comment in the first video at 3'30, in some circumstances, RAM can page out of storage files. On other videos we are advised to set our page files in a different SSD (or partition if you only have one), so I set my O.S page file on C at 16/16 Mb which is the minimum and my paging file on my D drive (Gaming) an M2 SSD where I installed DCS and which is running at 3,500 MB/s (I tested it), doubled the total of the RAM in Mb (32 x 1.024 X 2 = 65,536Mb). Set, I won't see my RAM paging out. -

Ryzen 5 5600x for DCS VR?
Thinder replied to HoneyBadger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Increase the number of RAM stick from two to four would theorically allow for a boost of FPS of up to 10%, it doesn't matter if you have 4 X 8GB or 4 X 16GB, it's the number of sticks that makes the difference, also, latency (LC14) has similar effect on Zen 3, much more so than sheer RAM speed. I have spotted a G-Skills 4 X 8 3200 LC 14 kit designed for Ryzen processors and I am trying to find it back online, some are actually compatible with my motherboard. https://pangoly.com/en/build/list In this website you can check for compatibility for amlost everything in the market, very useful before commiting to a buy. Another thing Zen 3 brings as well is full support for PCIe 4Generation but not a single GPU actually uses more than 30% of the 3Gen so I don't bother with this aspect of things just yet. From where I'm standing, to optimize a Zen 3 system you'll need a good bound between RAM and CPU, then the same between CPU and GPU. Your 5000 can cope with a RTX 3080 10GB with still the GPU in the red on bottleneck, mine gives me 0.36% of GPU bottleneck on 1080p resolution with a RTX 3080 10GB, benches won't tell you everything, as long as one link is weaker it will show in game, I havent find a bottleneck calculator computing the AMD RX 6800, which is why I used the RTX 3080 10GB instead. So DDR4 LC 4 sticks X 4, a Radeon RX 6800 XT GAMING X TRIO 16G will squeeze the most juice out of Ryzen 5000, with all the advantages of the bound AMD designed for this kind of compatibility. F4-3200C14Q-32GTZN Trident Z Neo DDR4-3200MHz CL14-14-14-34 1.35V 32GB (4x8GB) Now, I don't know about you but I got the feeling that the lack of availability of those new cards is more due to the war NVIDIA and AMD are fighting than Covid-19, I have the feeling that they are in the process of revising the specs of their GPUs, for the moment I don't really care, I'll focuse on RAM and bounding to my 5600X... -
quick question about gpu's for vr
Thinder replied to Multzee's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The 2070 is actually slower overall than the 1080 Ti 11GB, for faster, you'll have to look at 2080 and above. What Raven (Elysian Angel) says about the maps and more complicated scenarios is true, but you also have to take into account the role of the CPU and bound them together, so as to avoid bottleneck which would limit the performance of your all system. That's why you need a strong processor and what was suggested to you in the other topic is misleading. I chose the Ryzen 5 5600X for a good reason. With my actual card, 1080Ti O.Ced the GPU is the source of the bootleneck, 5.87% of GPU bottleneck on 2160p/4K resolution (lower than 10% = better). With the 2080 Ti 11GB, bound is better, only 1.75% of GPU bottleneck on 2160p/4K resolution. With an RTX 3070 8GB, 3.42% of GPU bottleneck on 2160p/4K resolution. With an RTX 3080, only 0.36% of GPU bottleneck on 1080p resolution. So as you can see, the 5600X which I got for £299.99 can easily deal with a GPU of this category, the stronger the card, the lower the GPU bottleneck which indicates that up to the RTX 3080, it will be more than sufficient and won't be the source of the bottleneck at this sort of resolution, which is what you need to run DCS in VR. So since you're into Intel, you'll need an Intel CPU with similar performances to that of the Ryzen 5 5600X, that would be an Intel i10900K which is equally fast single core but runs faster with all Cores in benches, the problem being that DCS will not use all its 10 cores and that up to 6 Cores, the 5600X might run the game faster. Core speed is not the only parameter. Note that I am talking non Overcloked speeds here, Intel claim a 5200GHz all core O.C, some 5600X users claimed a stable 6000 GHz O.C all Cores, the overclocking paradise of fanboys of both makers is a battlefield you'd better leave to them, stick to stock settings and true boost speeds. The Intel i10900K will requier to be cooled with a non-stock fan to reach 5200GHz all core, you can reach max boost frequencies of the AMD CPU with stock fans, may users runs theirs at 4850 MHz all Cores. Bottleneck calculator Infos on Intel and NVIDIA website. -
To me it matter the least which maker you go for, what is important is that people post the correct information to you, no need for bashing one or the other but this is becoming cognitive... As for charts, I too can post some pretty images, just a couple of hours after installing my 5600X I manage this in single core with GPU-Z... About your GPU. There are people posting on the subject in this forum, just research them, you'll find the infos you need.

In short, if you're new to building P.C don't even consider Overclocking, you need a stable, reliable system not a benchmark for Intel fanboy. I built my first PC around the Pentium III, both Intel and AMD and I know all the trick used in the book for making a comparison lean in one way or the other, the fact is, the most popular CPU in the market for gaming today is the Ryzen 5 5600X and for a good reason. The MSI B450 GAMING PLUS MAX can run it perfectly, this combo will offer the best price/performance ratio you can dream of without having to tweak your settings or overclock it, you can use its boost speed with a programe called Ryzen Master without risking to loose the manufacturer guartanty and this with the stock fan. If you choose the previous generation Ryzen (3600X), it still will be a good combination, but the 5600X runs Physics 21% faster and will be capable to offer a good bound for a GPU such as the 2080 and even faster, if you consider upgrading later on. In short, I've been using this motherboard with both CPUs and never had any problem, you just need to know a little about what does what in terms of settings, best RAM etc.

You've been projecting and keep misinforming people while ignoring FACTS, here is what we established so far... 1) First of all he mentioned €1700, I based my list on this amount and a stock Ryzen 5 5600X is certainly a better proposition than your unlocked and OC (on only one core) 10400F, a 3600X and B450 GAMING PLUS MAX is also cheaper solution and from stock would run faster which is what a new comer needs, not your "mine bigger" syndrome O.C comparisons. Stock Boost speed for those processors are Up to 4.4GHz (AMD), (4.3 GHz Intel), passed those speeds you loose manufacturer guaranty, period. Intel won't let your 10400F run at 5000 MHz multicore, people get their 3600X to runs at 4500 MHz ALL CORE, 5600X runs at 4850 ALL Cores even 6000MHz have been obtained, and I doubt very much that you'll keep Intel guaranty after unlocking it but that's irrelevant because again he needs stock performances. So basically you're braging about a CPU which would need him to loose his guaranty and in any case again it is not O.C performances that matters to him, but you need to spin your way around on top of plain lying about the AMD processor. Fanboy bashing at its worst. NOW: Talk about being misinformed... 2) I reiterate: MSI B450 GAMING PLUS MAX and Ryzen 5 3600X stock can take 2667/ 2800/ 2933/ 3000/ 3066/ 3200/ 3466/ 4000/ 4133 MHz (by A-XMP OC MODE) RAM. You were WRONG about the RAM speed. Both AMD and MSI proved it with proper data. If you didn't know it, you blatantly lied to do your little AMD bashing, plain funny but futile. 3) CPU Z charts doesn't mean ZILT to him or even to me without all the details that shows how they've been set up O.Ced and cooled, and when not O.Ced we still need to know how they are set up to have an idea. People like you posting funny videos where the first thing you notice if the wrong Boost speed of the 3600X just don't get it and keep calling proper settings "problems". I would not trust you to build a PC even if it was given to me for free. In his case, it's STOCK core speed that matter and you keep trying to imply that your Intel CPU is faster than a 3600X which clearly from stock it isn't. 4) Stop lying about the reality fabric and so called RAM issues. As I said, I've been running a 3600X and my actual B450 Gaming Plus from 23/06/2020 to a couple of days ago, I O.Ced the RAM from 3200 to 3600MHz without any problem, used auto O.C in Ryzen Master to its max, now, from stock as I said the 3600X is FASTER than the 10400F, as for the video you posted it shows speeds that demonstrate my point, the Ryzen 5 3600X is not even optimized for boost... Perhaps what you call "problems with" is what you don't know about. I thought I'd saw everything but this deserve a special mention...

Funny I posted the maximum RAM supported by both motherboards and you didn't bother reading it and keep talking like a conman, then I advised him to fit a 5600X on this board not a 3600 or 3600X, the RAM speeds are as I posted them first tIme but there is more from AMD. 1866/ 2133/ 2400/ 2667Mhz (by JEDEC). For AMD Ryzen Gen3 (R5/R7/R9) 2667/ 2800/ 2933/ 3000/ 3066/ 3200/ 3466/ 4000/ 4133 MHz (by A-XMP OC MODE). For AMD Other CPU 2667/ 2800/ 2933/ 3000/ 3066/ 3200/ 3466 MHz (by A-XMP OC MODE) MSI B450 GAMING PLUS MAX PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS AMD Ryzen™ 5 3600X System Memory Specification Up to 3200MHz AMD Ryzen™ 5 3600X Specifications Then advising him (or even suggesting) to O.C this processor to run like a 10600K is one of the funniest things I have read in this forum and there have been a lot of Intel fanboing and AMD bashing since the launch of Zen 3, looks like they trigered someone. So according to you, it won't need extra money to fit a cooler and run at its extreme thermal limits? FACT: your 10400F won't perform anywhere near "like a 10600K" but like an O.Ced 10600K, something the 3600/3600X can do pretty well too, I didn't mention it since I advised him to fit a Zen 3 first thing but in any case, the Ryzens from stock runs circles around your intel solution. Apparently you do care, and keep at the AMD bashing, since the first thing you do next is to desinform him and suggest he should overclok when we already know he's a new guy... I ran a Ryzen 5 3600X and this motherboard from the same day, same provider, with DDR 4 3200 which I O.Ced at 3600 without any issues, I never had issues with Infinity-Fabric or memory because before building a system I try to get my infos right, I only changed my signature today to Ryzen 5 5600x from 3600X. First of all, you got the RAM specs all wrong, second you didn't look very far fort doing your shopping, which I advised him to do, I bough my actual RAM from the Netherland when it cost me less with postage, €159.88 is what it would cost him if he ordered his processor from the UK at doday's exchange rate. That's still considerably cheaper as a system than the one you advertized as not being more expensive in the first place, then you can post all the videos you want to a newbie, anyone with the experience of how to set up an AMD system laugh at them, especially those comparing Intel to AMD.
