  1. I had some but I had to do a reset because the last Windows updates messed my set up (and the O.S itself) so I lost all my links, and it took me quiet a while to find some useful ones, in any case, it looks like reinstalling both Windows Mixed reality and Steam/Steam VR can work too for some reasons. I'll see what I can do, meanwhile I'll email HP to let them know we're many users having issues with Steam VR, I'll let you know if I find any useful info. You could start with this one. https://www.vrheads.com/how-fix-steamvr-startup-issues
  2. That would be a waste. The headset is fine, but the supporting software is mediocre, not the first time in the history of P.Cs, there are solutions, people always find ways around bugs and other things that makes Steam so bad for the G2, it is a matter of time before you can see what people have done to make it work for them. I have applied Dangerzone solution from the start because I got the information from Steam users in diverse forums and it works, i'm sure there are other tweaks around to optimize it but unless Steam developers actually move their lazy bums and do something about it, it's always gonna be an issue for everyone. My advise, don't sell it, instead spend a little time googling the related topics, you'll find advises and tip to help you, one thing you can try is to download SteamVR Performance Test and see if you don't have other PC/OS related issues that makes matter worse, then check for Steam VR updates, eventually contact their support team... Don't give up just yet.
  3. I don't know about the G2 software but in DCS you can recenter and literally reposition yourself by leaning backward and forward while using a key: Controls > UI Layer > Recenter VR Headset. On my throttle I use it as POV backward button and toggle VR zoom as POV forward, since I don't need those POV functions I can allocate them to other keys, the Vertical ones I use them for raising and lowering the seat, I don't use the diagonal POV functions to avoid making mistake, the whole setting is very usefull. The POV switch is a bit off so it shows as left or right but physically it is fwd and bwd.
  4. Thrustmaster T.1600M FCS Hotas Joystick and Throttle. I'm very please with the Throttle, a little less with the stick which I might replace in the future for someting like the F-18 Stick, I already checked with Thrusmaster support, they are fully compatible. One little touch about the Throttle, on the Mirqage 2000, I use the button 1 for IFF/Wheel steering and the Rocker Switch for rudder/wheels, meaning I could disable the twist ruder function on the stick which I did find to cause too much imprecision, all the functions I need for combat/radar are on the throttle including target select except for the weapon selection which are on the stick. I still haven't binded the antenna axis. I'm not about to let go of this throttle...
  5. I will get my kit today, it should improve the same way as you. I'm just worried about my eyes being too close to the lenses because of greasy eye lashes leaving some stuff on them, on the CV1 I had to clean them often... In the case of the cable, we also can secure it with velcro, but I used 2 of my cables velcro straps to secure it because the small plastic hook kept jumping out of position. No more issues.
  6. I've got mine and as I said, no issue at all with the headset itself, on the other hand, Steam VR is crapy as hell, compared to what it took to run a CV1, it's complicated and unstable, it disables my mouse, doesn't respect the windows limits for its cursor, overlap it in Windows throwing the whole thing out of focuse (like Oculus did as well). In short, the headset needs a far better quality support software and right now, Steam isn't offering it. Having said that, I certainly don't regret upgrading from CV1 to G2, image quality is simply of a different world. I'll try the modification for increasing FoV, what I figured is that it is far better to set up everything in 2D, controls etc, start Windows Mixed Reality then DCS and set it in VR, it will trigger Steam and you'll have the mouse ready to use. It doesn't always work but it's the best solution I did find to play DCS without controlers. Reverb G2 Fov Mod by Icebeat.
  7. Thanks! I'll try to use Afterburner for the FPS counter when I'm finished setting up my G2, I just receive it today.
  8. Just got mine delivered to me (8.40 am), I'm unpacking and will have to uninstall my CV1 and all related software before trying it...
  9. How do you activate the test once you're in autopilot mode?
  10. Hey! Thanks for all the advises. I can start the Benchmark with my actual CV1, I haven't received my G2 yet and I don't have a F-18, it starts with a SU-25. Mission start OK but I am stock not knowing how to activate the test once prompted. Which key is it? Cheers!
  11. A standard RX 6800XT would provide me with a minimum of (43%) increase in Average 4K Performance over my EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC2, then I can expect anything from 4% to 10% on FPS with Smart Memory Access feature in the Radeon gear, with nearly up to 10% improvement to be expected from going from 2 sticks to 4 sticks, not mentioning the RAM optimized for Rysen. Lowest price of the EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC2 is about £352.93 (Second hand Ebay, postage not included), I did find Radeon RX 6800 XT MBA 16GB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Cards from 679.99. That's for the GPU performances increase only, there is more than just bench data in this card. Thanks! I have a good deal on the G.SKILL Trident Z Neo, it's not the cheapest but tested was consistently top of the tests so I'll go for it for the stake of optimization. You guys are doing a terrific job at informing people, thanks!
  12. Hey! Are you sure single rank RAM is best for your Ryzen 5600X System? Anyway, the 5600X/6800XT combo should work for me in the future with my G2, I'll upgrade GPU or CPU depending on availability from the end of this month.
  13. Maybe you don't need a new motherboard if it already supports PCI_E4, ASUS PRIME X470 is on the list of motherboard which have the right chipset for BIOS update look for the info. https://wccftech.com/amd-motherboards-with-ryzen-5000-series-support-roundup-upgrade-to-500-series-bios-with-agesa-1-1-0-0-for-the-best-experience/ Update is AGESA ComboAm4v2PI 1.1.0.0 BIOS update. Once you updated your Bios your board should support all Zen 3/5000 series functions. Personally I am just waiting for the Ryzen 5 5600X to be available, my board is supported, MSI support confirned it to me (less than one hour after I emailed them, today). https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/254910-ryzen-3-support-for-msi-b450-gaming-plus-max/?do=findComment&comment=4501882 This feature could help developers speeding up DCS at high resolutions by allowing them to use 16Gb of RAM to counter possible bottlenecks.
  14. Call Tintin for help...
  15. READ the first line... if yours isn't already optimized for it If you haven't done it already then it's time to consider doing it, it is common in players to disregard those aspects of performance improvement.
  16. There are tools to figure bottleneck, but the main thing is to bound RAM to CPU and CPU to GPU, bottleneck of less than 10% between CPU and GPU is unlikely to cause you issues. I think your processor would gain in performance from a simple RAM upgrade if yours isn't already optimized for it, Intel or AMD, the one I have was always a stop gap, with some home work you can easily figure which RAM speed is best for your CPU but overall, more RAM modules works better, than increased speed. There are a few things you can do to improve overall performances of your system: Optimizing your O.S with the least possible apps running in the background and page files set to Application and on a different partition or HD/SDD than your O.S. Cooling: All CPUs are limited by their thermals, that of the GPUs as well, so you can check on this too, make sure your PC is cooled enough to guaranty maximum performances and reduce thermal limitation at full load, I have focused on this as well with complete case upgrade including high pressure fans to help the CPU cooler and it works. https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/246922-upgrade-complete-happy-player/?tab=comments#comment-247831 It's good that you're not in a rush because the manufacturers will have to compete to come up with more performances for less money, I looked at the cheapest but as it is not yet available, I might find a better solution sooner than later. I'm waiting for my G2 and will start test benching it with the system I have now, then compare performances with upgrades when I got the parts...
  17. Just a reminder: My goal was to debunk all the B.S said about the AMD Zen 3 and the Ryzen 5 5600X in particular, not to preach a particular church. If people want to buy Intel, it's their choice, but it's no reason for bashing the AMD users with whatever lies they can throw at us, and to make my point, I just posted a topic on the Ryzen 3 support for MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max. Since I insist that AMD have done what they always did with this CPU, aiming at gamers and offering a cheap alternative to Intel, at £249.99 for the GPU and below £80 for a brand new MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max, I think everyone can see my point, that's a 5GHz capable solution for £329.99.
  18. Some time ago I was saying that i wouldn't be surprised if some AMD users knowing what they were doing (Not talking B.S in forums that is) would take the Ryzen 5 5600X passed the 4.85MGh we've seen recently. Here you go. AMD Ryzen 5 5600X is overclocked to 6GHz on all cores Tech about 18 hours ago REPORT https://alkhaleejtoday.co/technology/5524948/AMD-Ryzen-5-5600X-is-overclocked-to-6GHz-on-all-cores.html
  19. Prompt reply from MSI support, only 49mn after I emailed them: etc. So here you have the reason why I chose to be with MSI and stick with them, on top of the quality of my motherboard. Strong support. Owners of the B450 GAMING PLUS MAX can confidently download the AGESA ComboAm4v2PI 1.1.0.0 BIOS update, I would advise that you follow the instruction for updating your BIOS by the letter. Enjoy! https://uk.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450-GAMING-PLUS-MAX#support-cpu
  20. I just surfed the net to figure when I will be able to update my BIOS and make my MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max ready for a future Ryzen 5 5600X and bumped into this topic, apparently the 1.1.0.0 Patch BIOS for Ryzen 5000 is available and ready for download, it is on my board support page. Version 7B86vHA Release Date 2020-11-27 Description - Updated AMD AGESA ComboAm4v2PI 1.1.0.0 https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/k7gwpc/updated_amd_agesa_comboam4v2pi_1100_patchd/ Obviously, I will contact MSI support and ask them if this is true but if it is, it is real good news for MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max users.
  21. Look at their performances in Microsoft Flight Sim and you'll have an idea, forget about 90 FPS but a good RX 6800XT will provide you with enough FPS to play those scenarios without too much trouble. I certainly wouldn't splash £1,689.99 on a GeForce RTX 3090 Trinity 24GB GDDR6X Graphics Card, quiet the opposite, I'm looking at cheaper solutions, like the Powercolor Radeon RX 6800 XT MBA 16GB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card offered for £679.99 by overclockers.co.uk, it's already a lot of dosh for my budget. I'm also looking at increasing my CPU performances by using 4 X RAM units instead of 2 and increasing RAM speed to DDR 3600, that would be Crucial Memory, designed for Ryzen, 3600 being the best pick for a Ryzen 5 5600X. All in all we're talking well over a grand at £1,279.96 just to keep up with the use of VR in DCS. So a GeForce RTX 3090, not an option, I need the GPU. CPU and 4 X 8 GB DDR4 LC16 3600 RAM and the benefit of using more RAM modules is higher than increasing speed with Zen 3, once you know that you have an extra solution to your problem. Just to be precise, VRAM is not gonna be the only limit, CPU speed as well as RAM will contribute to the overall performance at 4K, so I prefer to focus on having a well balanced system than spending a fortune on a GPU which will not solve the problem totally, but hide it, at a much higher cost. https://www.awd-it.co.uk/amd-ryzen-5-5600x-cpu-six-core-3.7ghz-processor-socket-am4-retail.html https://www.overclockers.co.uk/powercolor-radeon-rx-6800-xt-mba-16gb-gddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-very-limited-stock-gx-19q-pc.html https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bl2k16g36c16u4b
  22. Good idea!
  23. I can tell you what I have done to help G2 tracking when I got it but not if it works: I ordered a new keyboard, an Alloy FPS pro with red lighting set to continuous maximum, and I have a light centered just behind my screen, eventually, adding LED strips behind the screen should help further. Those cameras are sensitive to contrast, low contrast can occur even with lot of light, so they shouldn't have much problem detecting keyboard lighting and back-screen LED for as long as the room is not washed out with another source of light like day light, just give them a well contrasted directional source of light and they will track.
  24. It's pretty obvious that people who chose the G2 aren't the same kind of players than those who chose the Oculus Quest 2. I do my home work before committing any amount of money toward my PC and I knew well about tracking before I made my choice, my requirements for an headset are not controllers or tracking for playing saber games of climbing rocks, but DCS and eventually other flight simulators, and there is no way controllers are helping playing those games. On the other hand, quality of the optics and picture are a must, so to me, the G2 is the best choice by default for flight simulation. Good news: I should get mine before year end according to my provider, equally good news, second hand Samsung Gear VR Controllers working with the G2 can be found for as little as £8.00 at CEX, just in case I couldn't access the menus and start it with a mouse only (which I was told I could but we never know), I pre-ordered mine without controllers.
