DCS-series, modules or individual products?
fragged replied to fragged's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
If you own all the modules, why wouldn't you have them all installed? I mean, why would you uninstall them when you can just leave them be on your HDD. -
Are you possibly selecting the weapon with the DSMS store page? Because that way you are selecting the store, not the profile, which you had set the settings for. Se HUD as SOI and use the DMS left/right to select the wanted weapon profile. EDIT: Oh and on top of setting auto lase = on, you also have to set the lase time before impact for the weapons profile.

DCS-series, modules or individual products?
fragged replied to fragged's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
SSD space still costs a lot and probably will for quite some time. Menu and flyable aircraft should be the only differences between the A-10C and KA-50 modules after they have both been patched to the same level. I don't see why they couldn't exist within the same installation. It's just a matter of coding it. Also it would make the game more future proof. I see building multiple patches etc as the bigger evil of going through the effort to unify the whole series. Only time will tell us how ED moves forward with the series and how they handle the new modules etc. I'm just hoping they do the right thing here. Saves us both time and effort in the future with easier patching and installation process and changing settings. Couple of things that hit my eye: Having a single package for the whole deal would make all that easier. And.. ...one patch instead of many is a big mess? How? -
Hi, Before the launch of Black Shark, I remember talk about DCS being a sort of modular deal with new airplane modules coming on regular intervals. Now after the launch of DCS: A-10C we have two independent products and are waiting for a compatibility update for Black Shark to make it work online with A-10C. Sssoo. What after the release of 10th DCS "module"? Will we have 100 GB's of game installations, all containing 90% the same files (textures, sounds, etc the stuff that takes up the disk space) or will we at some point get real modularity and new aircraft sold like DLC's for current mainstream games? Not only would this save up disk space, it would make maintaining and developing the game much easier for ED, it would make modding easier (SDK's are coming for maps etc, right?) and editing any non-aircraft-specific settings would be a lot easier as instead of having to modify the same setting for 3 different games (KA-50, FC2, A-10C), there would only be one. I think I have a valid argument here. I do understand that making changes like this take time and effort, but I think it's worth it in the end. It's important to plan ahead into the future. I've noticed CCP (maker of EVE-Online) starting to pick up on this with their Corification efforts of various game components, like graphics, inventory system, ui, etc. This allows them to use the same bits of code in other projects with ease. /rant off -fragged disclaimer: I did not use search to look for possible previous discussions about this topic.

Wouldn't a air-burst fuse give you higher effective radius against soft targets on flat ground? I think it's something that should be implemented at some point.
-
No need to deactivate the game. You could probably copy the whole game folder, uninstall, install with 32bit and copy all the content back. I'm 99% sure it should work.

1. As said, engine ITT has to be at 150c or lower. Motor your engines after shutdown to cool them down for faster restart. 2. As said, ask for ground power to keep CDU and other flight computers online during the time your engines are not providing electricity. Going from engine/APU/engine power will reset some of the systems.
-
*fingers crossed* for end of March / early April release for the patch.
-
Running the motor with ram air from the APU or some other source with no fuel. Or I could be totally wrong.

The line on the landing checks hit my eye when I first read the manual. I'm guessing this is related.
-
Oh my.. I smell more MANPADS coming :helpsmilie:
-
I think the repair guys forgot to close a few panels.. Do they say something when they are done with your aircraft? I mean, I didn't order them to do anything when I landed.
-
Don't you need to change the order that MAV's are launched in from the MSL -menu of the DSMS?
-
I don't see any logic in the behavior but there rarely is any when it comes to user interfaces.. :P

So far every time I've changed the active weapon profile, changes to the last one were lost. Used to work fine with beta5 and before. Track attached. dsms.trk

You probably have to load HE in the Mission Editor.
-
The cake is a lie! The added memory space isn't!

Beta 3 is the latest of the Track Ir 5 software. There's also the new stable release of the version 4 software that runs 64 bit games like the info I quoted mentioned.
-
If you go to the Natural point site, you can clearly read which version to use for 64 bit tittles.

60 USD was cheap compared to what I spent on flight gear last year; Saitek Rudder Pedals, HOTAS Warthog and Cougar MFD's. Oh and it's still cheap in the simulation category too, I spent 125 USD on Steel Beasts Pro PE and it was totally worth it. I would like to get into arguing about the relation between LOMAC / FC2 / DCS engines, but what's the point..
-
It was stated earlier, before the betas, that DX11 support isn't coming with A-10C launch. And wasn't this new graphics engine said to come later with Nevada map pack update.
-
Damn you people! I had to order a pair too :)

TrackIR 4.X software beta had 64 bit game support, If I read the release notes correctly, but the support was dropped in the next beta a day after. There's also a new 5.1 beta, but no mention on 64 bit game support. Maybe in the next one?
