Do you know the first thing about human Psychology? Science is quite reductionist about it, which is why Scientists SUCK at Humanities and except for its precursors really don't study them. As Oswald Spengler said in the 1920s, study science and technology because humanities are dead in this dying civilization. Nothing to do with trolling, just trying to KEEP playing a game for fun. Nobody really GIVES a CRAP about "facts" and evidence here, if they did they'd all go flight real planes. They just want to play a game that they can continue to keep playing and having fun with it. When you drop all the b.s. about this source and that "simulation" that's what's really motivating things here. Science is A TOOL, not a RELIGION. If you can't see what motivates people to take up their position you're wasting your time with it, you're holding it wrong. It's A GAME!! A Freaking GAME. Do you understand that? What reality is this about? -

The way I see it, you have a game balancing issue you're going to have to deal with sooner or later, Simulator or no Simulator, because of human psychology. Period. You might lose customers but given the response here and the percentages I'd say it'll follow Pareto's 80/20 rule at worst. But anyhow I strongly suggest you get your Product management department to do some reading on Game Psychology. Everything else is noise. -

Controls systems are one thing, digital computers that EMULATE control systems are another and there were very powerful specialized analog computers. -

What you fail to understand is that you're talking to someone from a COMPLETELY different culture than yours that barely knows how to put words in English together and yet, ALL OF YOU, expect him to think the exact same way you already do. Which is at the very least, taking things for granted. When you grew up in a real totalitarian environment CONTROL does exist, or the appearance of it, so your mind goes to blame those in power AUTOMATICALLY. Freedom is a two side sword. Would you ask a Martian to eat pasta with a Fork or with a Spoon? Why do you expect a Slav to behave and think like a Westener? P.S. THANK YOU for being respectful. -

Why is it that EVERY Westener that reads this guy's post think's he's thinking about conspiracies? The guy literally reports what happens and then they call him crazy. I'm seriously starting to consider moving next to an ex gulag. It's getting scary over in the West. Ironic no? They've been brainwashed too much. Hey, at least this guy was respectful, should've seen the first guy. -

Then if the F-15 behaves crappily like the Su-27 does this has nothing to do with the "side" but with what always talks, MONEY. "Simpler" models don't get "upgraded", 80 USD models do. End of the story. No need to take "sides" here. I haven't seen the first "realistic" Russian ASF in DCS yet and I doubt I will until 2030 after the Su-57 takes over. If we get there. The only problem with it is that ED is for SOME reason ignoring the very basics of Gaming Psychology and this is a game after all. When the BIG RAT always beats the small rat the small rat won't play anymore. Telling someone that they're crazy, spreading lies and accusing them of absurd conspiracy theories about a Russian company making their own side crappy on purpose isn't going to change that Psychological FACT. So, back to the Mirage I guess. SO how did Lock On work then? A 20 year old game. -

Oh geez, you never heard about gaming balancing? What is the point of releasing ONE SIDE of the story without releasing another to compete? Do you know anything about game psychology? And then they say ruskies are the tyrannical ones... Your assumption about what he's saying is also completely absurd. Military Gaming simulation in the "West" has been dead for a while now and everyone who's been around before Janes knows ED is a Russian company. There's no way your conspiracy theory makes sense. All so you can complain about somebody else complaining when all they are doing is reporting what they saw based on what THEY KNOW. It's quite rude, disrespectful and annoying to watch. What Westeners fail to understand is most of the world doesn't think or behaves like they do. -
So wait a minute. This has been happening to me for a long time. I thought it was because when your plane loses energy pulling further back on the stick actually stalls it even more and I figured there's no AIR flow into the turbo fans so the engine literally runs out of oxygen to burn and turns off. I haven't looked at the track here but it is very annoying when you're in the middle of a dogfight and are going vertical and your plane all of the sudden turns the engines off. It takes about 30 seconds minimum and you're a sitting duck then. It can go from 200 Km/h to 90 km/h very quickly. Can someone give a non-cryptic NON one liner detailed explanation of what's going on. A paragraph should suffice to avoid confusion. Also, does this happen to other plane models in a similar, non exact way? Thank You! P.S. I've never seen the Su-57 Felon do that, but that's an unofficial model that can flight into space practically.

VKB GLADIATOR NXT - Entry Level Taken to the NXT Level
einarabelc5 replied to UIV's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
Oh so that's why the POV hat is so long? Well, can you move the whole thing (including the switch itself) inward? I mean I thought about it a little more and what threw my brain off is that the POV hat is NOT on the same plane as the rest of the controls (4 way hats) on that area, it feels like an anomaly sticking out. Plus is hard to control because it takes a lot of flex to detect movement without messing with control curves. It seems a compromise between movement and dealing with the unwanted button depress issue is still needed to reach a balance point. I mean, you can see the actual switch BROWN PCB below the stick, you could just move it inwards and put it in the same plane as the rest. And for the record I also had the CH fighter stick and chose the VKB NXT instead. I didn't like the top of their stick that much because the controls barely moved and the stick's top was oversized, an in between what you have now and CH would be nice as another adjustment when it comes to deflection/detection ratios. -

VKB, what can I say, I'm a fan. Keep the engineering up and don't give in into marketing bullshit. The fact that you improve your plastic stick throw over your top of the line metal gimbal throw speaks mountains about your striving to improve things. Do I have criticism about this product yet? Yes I do. Make the POV hat stick a little shorter, it makes it harder to control for smaller hands where the Kosmosima just fits. Also, please sign your drivers/software for Winblows OS. Thank You! Here's a nice review, again from VKBs site. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pM4cj2WiJ4 Also, you need to talk to this guy, because his review while missing some key points is the best review about any Joystick I've ever seen, of course..I'm biased. Really, all the information here made me decide on the VKB but the two most important things for me were: 1: EMC capable design 2: Mechanics review and Gimbal analysis by Jay (link above) Everything I RE-learned afterwards has just confirmed my decision so that's why I'm a fan. People drool over Virpil but I was HORRIFIED to see this: Edit: I ALMOST forgot...you need to TOUT this(EMC electronic design) as an advantage over competitors: How do you explain EMC to a layman customer...just use Logitech's X-56. Problem: Raw unexplained data: EMI fix based on raw unexplained data above: Saitek X56 Throttle "ghost inputs" potential fix : hotas (reddit.com) -
Thank you everyone. The name of the campaigns on that list are aptly selected: Red Flag and Iron Eagle(LMAO). It's obvious I made a mistake getting the F-16 first then as it was still under development six months ago (and still is). I should've taken my time to learn more about the DCS development process and use that as a criteria. Given all the announcements they make on Steam and inside the app and what is mentioned in your responses it's obvious it was a little too soon. It is obvious now that I was looking for confirmation bias based solely on a single characteristic: the ability to escape a fight and do BVR and ignored EVERYTHING else. I mean when you think about the patterns here it really is obvious. I didn't know the F-16 was that new though as there was plenty of media about by the time I made my decision. I started with Flaming Cliffs because I came from Lock On and Su-27 as well as the A-10, so I already knew Eagle Dynamics. I was so focused on the Su-27 I ignored the fact that the F-15 has no training missions. Nowadays with the Internet you can still make up for things like that but it's obvious at this point that just because a module for a plane is released doesn't mean it has everything you think you can expect. It takes time, and that's ok. I had the wrong expectations of how things work. It's obvious that the Internet REALLY has changed how things get done.

Where the hell did the videos/posts of the German engineer that built the 6 DOF platform and played on VR at his home went?
-
There's been a whole debacle about getting the F-18 versus the F-16 module as a first choice. I chose the F-16 because of Dogfighting. Regardless, I don't see any campaigns coming in about 6 months, why? The F-18 has 2 or 3 already and it is an all time favorite.
-
I was never biased either way. I'm more of an A-10/F-22/F-15 kind of guy so I looked at online reviews about dogfights. There was this one video about BVR that convinced me to get the F-16 over the F-18 but ever since most of the Dogfight videos I've watched Feature the F-18, but they're mostly gun only. Also, it's obvious the F-18 is way more developed. The f-16 doesn't even have campaing mode yet.

Reviving this thread as is on of the few talking about this problem. The X56 is SUPPOSED to be used with keyboard emulation rather than being used directly on DCS. I used to have the X-52 and keyboard emulation worked. In this post you mentioned Macros, which is a combination of keys. Well, on this build: Software:8.0.213 Driver: 8.0.197 Things aren't really working. Neither the Test screen within the Logitech software work nor DCS recognize keyboard strokes when emulation profiles are loaded up. Is there a bug somewhere in the drivers preventing this from working because every key stroke is detected and matched in the software when creating the profile. I literally used the profile provided on the DCS files page for Su-27. The only one that's decent which makes extensive use of the MODE switch.: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3307324/ P.S. I already tested adding the Mode switch as a modifier directly on DCS besides having to start from scratch it doesn't really work that well yet. So the question remains, why isn't keyboard emulation working? Is there a problem with the hardware or with the drivers or is it a permissions problem? Thanks in advance!!

Ray Tracing has been around since the 80s. Is amazing what branding does to people...for instance the PS5 uses Ray Tracing to process audio as well yet people keep talking about RTX as raytracing when every major movie they've seen if they're younger than 40 has some form of Ray Tracing in it. Here's the scenario when it comes to REAL TIME Ray Tracing, not ALL of the raytracing processes that require real time response like the Tensor Cores on Nvidia "RTX" cards are necessary to emulate radar and the CPU might take some of the overload. Heck even some of the Ray Tracing modules out there that do code injection for games(Think Witcher 3) use the regular video card processing cores to do REAL time Ray tracing. RTX was simple an strategy for NVIDA to push their AI cores and have the gaming market become cash cows to test and feed their real business: AI. The fact that they bought ARM and that their Tegra processor is TWICE on every new Tesla car says it all.

How did I miss this? I just got the CH, any idea on where to get maps? Thanks in advance!!

Welcome to CLOUD computing. Your browser is not just a client anymore, it reports and fetches information to/from Cloud servers on the status of websites across the Internet in order to "protect" you, it WAS called White Listing/Black Listing, I don't know if it still is, anything else is forbidden in this forum so I won't go there. Basically a service checks another service that runs security scans on multiple websites, your browser then asks the other end of that first service if it's safe and then proceeds, or halts. Chrome has had this feature for ages (in Internet terms), and I believe Firefox is also on Chromium, which is the engine running behind. Google and the rest of the Big Tech companies came up with some called OCSP designed at the HTTPS protocol level to detect whether an HTTPS Certificate Authority is still valid according to their directories, that's one way to do it. They were testing it earlier this year. If you want to get rid of things like that look for De-Googlefied Chromium.

That's a good story!! It makes me think that all these Joystick companies like to write their software to over-ride the keyboard input when inside a game, probably by using something like Game Mode/Direct X/OpenGL/Vulcan calls sniffers in their software. The X-52 from Logitech does that too but I can't remember if the keyboard stopped working altogether.
