This engine has so much potential once people get past the fact that it is STILL PRE-ALPHA! Here's a quick video I made where I replaced the cessna's FM with an Edge 540 from FlightGear. I have tried everything from low level flight, to supersonic flight (f-16/x-15), to putting my cessna in orbit with rocket engines and the terrain/detail transitions are outstanding. Recording this in real-time at 1080p with graphics maxed out and my GPU/CPU weren't even at 50% usage. qYJ42XifTLs

In 2011, the Patriots Jet Demonstration Team, based out of Discovery Bay, California, added two more L-39 jets to their airshow performance and debuted their 6-ship show. In an effort to meet their goals with limited resources, the team reached out to their online virtual counterparts, the Virtual Patriots. Already breaking barriers in the aerobatic community with the integration of the Virtual Patriots as a part of the actual team, the Patriots continued to fly into the unknown. The virtual pilots were integral in molding the 2011 Patriots Jet Team performance by flying the new routine in an online flight simulator, LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2. At each show iteration, the performance was recorded, reviewed, corrected, and tweaked by the actual pilots, before a single drop of fuel was consumed by the L39's. By sowing a unique partnership with their virtual counterparts, the Patriots Jet Team was able to enhance the quality and safety of their 6-ship show, all while reducing maintenance and fuel costs, a first for any aerobatic team in the world! On September 18, 2011 all six Virtual Patriots took to the skies in the backseat of their respective L-39's for a truly historic flight. Climbing through 16,000 ft above the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Virtual Patriots were put through the ultimate test, maintaining delta formation, just as they have done virtually. With zero room for error, you will witness the truest example of the unique bond that exists between the pilots...one that is separated by only a few feet in what many have called "Rare Air!" The following video showcases this memorable flight. Blaze's SS are just models and not actual AI jet unlocks. The other screenshots, which are presumably from Hungarojet, are unlocked AI jets. But due to his past secrecy on the matter, the answer to unlocking them won't come from him. So get to work hacking the game up and you'll find your answer. Many have already tried and failed miserably! :)

Well besides for Nevada, there have been no other terrains released, and I believe this is the reason for that. The process is a lot of hard work, but nothing this community isn't willing to put into it. The problem is with the exact approach to this work that nobody seems to know. Sure we have tutorials, but they all have gaps that get us into trouble. Even if you happen to figure the method out, unforeseen errors knock you right back down. Besides from the developers of the tools (ED), nobody really knows why some of these errors appear or how to fix them. I was very motivated to finish my terrain, but while my methods were consistent, the results never were. I had numerous issues with LODs and airports and I sought help, but was unable to fix them. Luckily I never cut out my water only to figure out I had no idea what I was doing there, either. I, too, cannot waste my brain power on this type of modding at the moment.

DCS A-10C F-16 flyable ?
SilentEagle replied to marc15yo's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I can't say that I would be any help, as I and several others have previously attempted everything you listed above (during the initial betas) and got the exact same results (just not publicly), but I do admire you for trying! It does seem that these dlls kill essential functions in the game, but were the only easy way to make these aircraft work. Later betas and release version did not work at all, AFAIK. There is at least one on these forums who has cracked the code (I believe literally) to make this work, but has unfortunately not been kind enough to share the secret with the community :(. -
I'm glad you're still at it Moa. I wanted to create this full reference with a link to the equations and how each variable affected flight profiles, but became frustrated with the instability of my custom flight models (likely due to insufficient knowledge of the actual meaning of each variable). While I had the aerodynamics knowledge, I only learned flight dynamics when I was trying to mess with these files and had never had any formal training before.

Ordered my G930 yesterday for $88 with rebate from Newegg. Doesn't get much better than that! Can't wait for it to arrive on Monday. -
Purpose That's right aero-philes and addicts, the Patriots Jet Team based in sunny Byron, California wants you! 2011 marks a new step forward moving from four jets to six and the real team can't do it without your help! In order to better stream line the creation of the six-ship show routine the real Patriots Jet Team have enlisted the help of their virtual counterparts to practice and record proposed show routines to be reviewed and evaluated in team meetings and give them a head start before one liter of JP8 is turned into beautiful, expensive, thrust! As the real team is increasing its roster so shall we. In order to meet this new challenge we are looking for formation aerobatic pilots who want be part of the flying squad. We're not looking for secretaries, ground crew, PR men, or a wicked aircraft modeler, if you've wanted to be a flying member of a virtual squad from day one, this is your chance. Not only will accepted new members be part of the 2011 six-ship demo, performing live at VFAT and elsewhere, they will also be directly involved in giving feedback to their real life counterparts and have a part in shaping airshow history! Ready for something new and exciting to test your precision skills as a pilot? Tired of application forms and resume submissions? Don't want to join a team as a backup pilot? Our newly created flying slots are open and our tryout is simple. We care about the flying. Requirements To tryout for the team simply log onto the Berkuts’ phantom server and record a track of your flying. Flying on wing. We’ll accept candidates who specialize on one wing or the other (we all do to some extent). But those that can’t fly a half-way decent wing position need not apply. We will not train new personnel, the Berkuts’ phantom server provides all the training you will need. The Berkuts Phantom Server can be found in the FC2 server list or by direct IP: 178.22.48.48:10308 We have two additional requirements that further aid in getting the best flying result. Candidate must be living in North America (for internet connection speed reasons) Candidate should be over 18 The second requirement is less of a requirement and more of a guideline. While some of our eldest members are among our most immature, when it comes time to get down we all have our game faces on, no excuses. Also in a rare exception to our usual protocol we will also be accepting any formation pilots currently on teams that would like to lend a temporary hand until the real team has the show laid down. Confidentiality is available if required. Experienced pilots can also skip the Berkuts track submittal if a previous video or VFAT live performance is available to showcase your mad skills. Contact Become a part of history, work with real formation aerobatic jet pilots and have a great time in the process! The Patriots website has a gallery of photos from air show events the team has performed at and some that we have attended. Also, videos of both, the real team and the virtuals, are located at the bottom. We look forward to hearing from all interested candidates. Send all tryout tracks via email to the following address and I will respond in a timely manner: burner@virtualpatriots.com or visit http://www.virtualpatriots.com/forum/ Thank You and Good Luck, Burner #3 Left Wing Pictures Click images for full-resolution. I agree with these points. I wrote a real time flight data analyzer that would output .csv so I could display it on another monitor running livegraph. It was a cool tool, but didn't include nearly the functionality that could be realized with Tacview. Vyrtuoz, am I right to assume TR is turn rate? Did you calculate this using differential heading with respect to time like you have to do with other objects' speed? I used an equation involving g's, but of course at straight and level 1.0 G it will read over 2.x deg/s.

What he said. Working on graduating and starting my new job before I get back to this mod. Plus, I have been working on other projects when I have time.

My squad mates and I have all had this problem numerous times in the past and have never been able to pinpoint what causes it. Surprised more people haven't brought this up.

Idea: Unified Peripheral Profiler, need devs :)
SilentEagle replied to RvEYoda's topic in DCS Modding
This is an interesting concept! I'm not quite sure what you are proposing here. Would this be replacing cougar control panel/foxy for the couger, TARGET for the warthog, SST software for saitek, logitech software for keyboard, mouse, etc. and combine it all in one program with tabs for the different kinds of directx input devices? Seems like more than a few hundred lines of work to replace all that software functionality. In any case, you know I don't have a high level of programming knowledge, but I'd be happy to help out however I can with testing and problem solving. -
You are not alone. It's okay to feel this way :p http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=70494
