@Mistermann,@Devil 505, thanks for your feedback. You are totally right, the Kiowa is more a scout than an attack helicopter. Yeah I guess it is more fun with 2 or more Kiowas, even having a CPG on board would change the gameplay. In my next attempt I will try something different. 1. I will overload the Kiowa. Even this is not realistic. 2. In the first part I hovered a long time at the harbour, which I think used a lot of fuel. Instead I will fly orbits and see if this has any change of fuel consumption. 3. I will maybe first search for the CORDS and store them as Target Points (the fixed ones) and then attack them from the distance. Luckely you can fly the Kiowa from the left side and use the MMS at the same time. Will report how it works. Frank

@Mistermann Yes M3, was a misstyping. And yes again, I am flying solo in a one ship configuration. As there is not much action on the first Part and easy flying, I will just try to overload the Copter with max fuel at startup. Refueling at the airport is maybe also an idea. How many targets are there? Is it even possible with two APKWS pods, to eliminate all targets? Frank

Mission 2 tried it once first. The first easy part went well and was no problem. For the second part, it took me some time to find out that the MG-Trucks are moving , so it took a way to long to find and kill them, as I already got Bingo fuel warning. At least I made something dump and crashed the helo No time today for second try. Frank

Yeah ! Just tried the updated M2 again. Everything is there ! Both routes to the target area and both Target Points. Super ! Strange thing for me. Again I did not get the confirmation at WP1 to engange with the first try. On the second attempt it worked. On the first attempt it took a little bit longer for me to start the mission, as I had to find out where the option with waypoints was to diable it, and I added already the Target Points to the Prepoint list. Maybe this took to long ? On the second tryout, I just rearmed the copter and took off. I added the Target Points at WP1 to the Prepoint list, and everything went well. However. Looking forward to M3. Regards Frank

@Mistermann Yeah, tried also a little bit around with M2, and added Target Points and the 2 Routes, which did not work all so well. Was fun, because I normaly Do not mess around with the ME. But learnd a lot. Looking forward to replay the new M2, and of course M3. Thanks for your work and publishing for free! Regards Frank

What did I think of Kiowa? It needs to improve in some areas!
BoFrost replied to ThorBrasil's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
Wow ! Thats really Bad. For an module which was not early access, and all the reported bugs here, this is not nice. At least solving the slewing problem should have been in the Update. Frank- 591 replies

OK, I made another run on M2. Did not do any planing in forehead, and just flew to the WP1 and got the trigger fired up. So I first got the message to wait on WP1 and short after I got the message to go in hot. Not sure if this was related to not to do the WP and Target point planning, or if I mybe did something wrong on the second and third try out. However, I could manage it this time, and I am looking forward to M3 ! Regards Frank

maybe for future missions you should try to create mission data in the "data cadridge" Yes, this function is not implemented completely yet, But you can store the waypoint, target and control points to an file, which then can be imported to the Kiowa. Finally I could find the video again, I saw some time ago, and thought, this would maybe be nice.

Yes, I am playing in single Player. One ship. I guess I waited way longer than 30 seconds. But Not sure how long exactly. The Target points you have are not usable. Thats why I create my own target points as prepoint in the MMS to find the target easier. In the briefing the location of the SA8 is shown. So I can create an marker on the F10 map and store it as an target point as prepoint in the MMS. Not exact position but near enough to shorten the search time for it. It is hidden yes, but the picture in the briefing is showing the location. Not frustating, like really to help you. Unfortunately my time is limited, to maybe 6-8 hours of DCS playtime the Week. Will not be bored to try again. Next try will be without adding target points or wp by me. Will see if this makes a difference. And sorry for my bad writing here, but if I write from my mobile in english, the autocorrection is going nuts. HeHe. Regards Frank

Hmm.... unfortunately I did not have much time to fly the updated M2. But I managed to make 3 starts on it. First try I forgot to start the mission via F10, HaHaHa. As I found it out, I already was on WP1 and it did not activate the trigger. The second and third attempt both failed with activating the trifgger, as it looks like. I arrived at WP1 and got the message, that I have to wait here for further instructions. But they never came. I hovered arround the waipoint, made some orbits, but did not activate. When then just proceed on the mission, I got the message to return to WP1. I then just stopped the mission. What I am doing at startup, is to create an Target Point arround the expected SA8. Also I am creating 2 WPs. One on the start of the route I want to use, and one just at the end of the route, so I do not flyby the target area. My observation point. Hopefully have some more time the next days. regards Frank

Tried M2. After flying to the airport and then turning on to the left main street, and just before I wanted to start to search for the SA8, I got the message to return to WP1, what I did, but then nothing happens. Also, there where no Target Points stored in the System, as it says in the briefing. Will try again later today. Did I miss the trigger at WP1 ?

Nice mission for an "warm up" would also have been nice if the video link from Reaper would have been availlable. Anyway, looking forward to next mission. Thanks Frank

Hi, I am flying in VR only, and I noticed, that adding an Target Point to the list, is really challenging, as the window disapears from the MFD quiet fast. In VR it is not so easy to get access to the keypad with the mousepointer to enter the needed letters/numbers. So, is it possible to just let the entry window on the MFD open, for maybe 2-3 Seconds longer ? Regards Frank

Same happened to me after the update.

Hi, I tried to add the KIOWA to the selectable Helos. For the West part I was able to add it and it works. For the East part, I did the same as I did on West, but I can not jump into the KIOWA. I can select it from the Slot Menue, but then it jumps just to an outside view of an Huey parked somewhere on the Airport. Any ideas, what I am making wrong ? Thanks Frank

Mission 13
BoFrost replied to Kurnass1977's topic in DCS: F/A-18C Operation Mountain Breeze Campaign
Yeah, unfortunately Mods are often the problem if something unexpected happens. I have had it myself in an other campaign, where Vaicom Pro causes the mission to behave in a strange way. (can't remember exactly which one it was, but AI reacted in a very strange way) So even an very good Mod/Add On can mix the things up. Regards Frank -
Mission 6 - A-A engagement
BoFrost replied to SHazmak's topic in DCS: F/A-18C Operation Mountain Breeze Campaign
As always, outstanding support from the developer. -
Gestern Vormittag gekauft, geladen, geflogen. Hat ca. 30 Minuten gedauert, keine Abbrüche, Fehler oder sonstige Probleme. Leider keine instant Mission verfügbar, aber via quick mission oder wie das heißt ja auch kein Problem. Performance in VR.
