  1. The Su-27 is the most beautiful fighter ever built. Nothing else comes close. For American stuff, to me the falcon is the cutest. The 18 and the 15 look like DIs or porno girls--something is not quite natural, hehe
  2. TY Cali for reply. My current system, outlined below, cannot run FC to the point where I really want to play it, although I did spend quite a bit of time flying the SU25T, because it has such an incredible FM. Of course it will run OK in a low object enviroment-- beautiful really. But the slideshow will kick in when things get interesting. Anything below 20FPS and I loose immersion. Looking at the current state of Tech, it seems the 8800 with an E6700 or 6800, would last me quite a while. I build my own stuff of course. I would run 32 bit XP on the new rig, and prolly build it after christmas with a budget of 2 to 2.5K, excluding HDs, since I have some very fast ones in storage. I'm really tempted to go E6700 + 8800GTX, saving alot over the E6800 to pay for the X over the GTS. I know the game is processor intensive, but my own experience is that a great GPU will help find the smoothness I crave with the graphics settings to see the water, objects and effects which make my current rig shudder. So basically I don't want to even bother playing BS on this system, but I will buy BS right away--- so that gives you an idea. If I do save money and get the E6700, I will have to pick the right mobo, I guess, since apparently few are able to OC it. I don't usually OC, but I like the option.
  3. WOW!!!!!! No wonder BS is taking some time. ED breaks more new ground. The F4 startup is childs play in comparison, hehe. SPECTACULAR!!!!!!! Here is a suggestion: give us three startup modes 1) Full Manual 2) One click 3) Auto start with voice over. Make it fast, but with all switches clicking and a sultry russian voice at each click...e.g. "vibrator now primed and ready"..."master arm on" etc. That way we would be learning at each mission....you know how ADD most of us are, but you could do the whole thing in about 3 mins. But it is SO IMPRESSIVE!! I will have to build a new machine to do this work some justice.
  4. hehe TY, I figure I'll retire this rig to Vista, just so I can keep up with my clients, OS wise.
  5. TY guys, I guess the good news is that the CH throttle slides pretty smooth.....but maybe it's time for somebody to stepup and sell us a good collective. I'm surprised that no russian or ukranian company has noted the stagnant state of hotas and designed a next gen cougar type setup with a collective option and FFB (I know--the real things (sticks) don't move much, but the body sure takes forces and a good FFB can give a hint of that)
  6. OK you guys got me thinking now... My last two cards have cost me over 500 each, and for that money its got to be BFG. They just replaced my my old 6800 in less than a week with very few "hoops" on the phone. So these two cards come to mind today: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143074 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143075 I've gone the GTX route in the past, becasue I don't like to fiddle. What do you guys think now? Thinking ahead, is it really possible to run TWO of these things? Is there an MB that would even take 2? and speaking of mobos--- which for the conroe? I'm also a 1c fan from the days of the il2 demo, and knowing Oleg, BOB is going to be pretty demanding at full tilt--- I want this system to run the pee out of that for sure. OT this is the "sim" I really want: http://www.zenithair.com/video/CH701_256Kbps.wmv TY guys, help me here
  7. you're right, I apologise. It's an interesting thread. would be great to know what really happened out there from wiki, which is at least as reliable as the CIA: "US military officials initially claimed that no American aircraft was lost in air-to-air combat during the war. However, later investigations indicated that a US Navy F/A-18 piloted by LCDR Speicher was shot down by an air-to-air missile on the first night of the war.[3] The kill was reportedly made with a R-40DT missile fired from a MiG-25PDS flown by Lt. Zuhair Dawood of the 84th squadron of the IrAF.[4]" another Account: "I've got a fast-mover, on my nose, he's hot,'' Anderson called out. "Confirm bandit?'' Anderson needed the controller to call the fast-mover a bandit, an enemy, instead of a bogey, an unknown. The rules of engagement that night were strict. With hundreds of jets in the sky, the possibility of "blue on blue,'' of a friendly fire kill, was extremely high. The Hornet pilots had to confirm an enemy fighter at least two ways before firing a missile: They could see it with their eyes (nearly impossible at night), they could ID it electronically or the controller could declare it hostile. The hair on the back of Hull's neck shot up. He had been so concerned with shooting his HARMs that he had his Hornet in bombing mode, instead of sweeping for enemy fighters. "Oh my God! What was I thinking?!'' Hull flipped the switch and started scanning for air threats. The call also jolted other pilots. Albano flew a few miles behind Anderson. Albano knew what "hot'' meant: The Iraqi fighter's nose pointed almost directly at the nose of Anderson's Hornet. A couple of pilots thought they heard Anderson identify the enemy as a MiG-25, a Soviet-made jet that could fly at nearly three times the speed of sound. The controller answered Anderson: "NEGATIVE . . . negative bandit, confirm BOGEY.'' Anderson and the Iraqi pilot roared through the dark sky at each other. Anderson didn't want to shoot down one of his own. No stain clung to an aviator more than a blue-on-blue kill. Fellow pilots would talk behind the pilot's back, ask what was wrong with him, get antsy about flying with him. Horner's staff feared half a dozen or more friendly fire kills in the first two weeks. Anderson wanted someone else to see what he surely saw. They'd been told dozens of times: Better to let a bad guy go than shoot down a good guy. "Confirm BANDIT?'' Anderson said again, not yelling but punching the words more strongly. "Negative bandit,'' the controller said. "Declare bogey.'' Now sweeping, Hull spotted the enemy jet on his radar, but it wasn't coming toward him. Albano and the others desperately looked for it but couldn't find it. Anderson asked a third time, even more firmly. "CONFIRM BANDIT.'' "Negative . . . bogey. Negative . . . bogey.'' The Iraqi fighter and Anderson's Hornet zoomed past each other, at a combined speed near 2,000 mph. Neither fired a missile. The pilots figured the jet "bugged out,'' just kept flying away from the Hornets, knowing they didn't have the power to catch him. Some A-6 pilots a few minutes later saw the massive exhaust, nearly 300 feet long, of a MiG right over their heads. Dave Renaud, from VFA-83, heard Anderson say the MiG had turned "cold,'' flown out of firing range. A few minutes later, he saw a big explosion off to his right. It seemed close, maybe five or 10 miles away, and at his altitude. Its bright flash mesmerized him. He watched it sparkle and glow all the way to the desert floor. Must be an Iraqi jet getting knocked out by an F-15, he thought. That made sense. Air Force F-15s had launched ahead of the other jets and were to sweep the skies of Iraqi fighters. The radio frequency was still buzzing, so Renaud didn't report the explosion.. Nor did he mark his latitude and longitude. Just in case, though, he did talk into a tape recorder running in his cockpit. "I see a big explosion off to my right,'' he said. Stumpf saw it, too. The blast lit up his Hornet like a strobe. Pay attention, Stumpf told himself, and don't do anything stupid. They pushed toward the targets, fired their HARMs, then turned south toward the tankers. Stumpf wanted to haul out of there, but instead had to chug back to conserve fuel. It seemed to take forever to near the Saudi border. Hull lit his afterburners to blaze back, then remembered that would make him an easy mark for a heat-seeking missile. He backed off. They all converged at the fuel tankers. They had to pass through a gateway, a specific location and altitude that would let others know they were not enemy aircraft trying to slip through. About 20 miles from the Saudi border, pilots started checking in with the AWACs. Speicher should have reported in before Albano but didn't. Anderson asked Albano to try to reach Speicher. Albano tried a tactical frequency only used by VFA-81. "Spike . . . Bano . . . you up?'' Nothing. "Spike . . . Bano.'' He switched to another frequency. "Spike . . . Bano . . . you up?'' Silence. Albano radioed Hull and asked him to try. "Spike . . . ? Skull, have you got me? Spike, come in. Spike . . . How copy?'' No response. ....Then Rowe asked, if Anderson didn't mind saying, what had happened to his friend. "It was a SAM that got him?'' Rowe said. He remembers the look that came over Anderson. How his eyes filled with tears. "It was no SAM that got Spike,'' he said. "Let me tell you what happened.'' So Anderson told Rowe about how Spike came to him begging to go on the mission, and Anderson said no. And Spike came back a second time, and Anderson changed his mind. Then he told Rowe about the MiG, and how the rules of engagement leaned toward letting an enemy fighter go if you weren't sure. For months, the Pentagon had stuck to the story that Speicher had been downed by a surface-to-air missile. "I'm telling you right now, don't believe what you're being told,'' Rowe remembers Anderson saying. "It was that MiG that shot Spike down. "I HAD him, Dave, and I could have taken him out.'' With that, the official story of what happened to Scott Speicher started to come unglued. http://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/msspeicher.htm
  8. I have CH hotas now. I was wathcin that long movie of guys in Russia flyin the BS, one shot really showed the collective handle on the left. What will be the best way to map that--- the throttle? thanks guys
  9. Looks like BS deserves a strong machine and I've had this rig for two years. I'll get a conroe, but I am stumped on the best graphics setup for today. My last card was AGP! What do you guys think will work the best-- if you could have any graphic setup for this game..... Haven't flown LO for quite awhile, but I realy enjoyed the SU25T. This helo looks pretty fun, hehe
  10. come out and "say you have something against america"? In the fall of 2006 how could anyone? It's this sort of blithering patriotism that got us in to the shamefull mess we are in now. IMHO.
  11. you should get an oscar for that one.......wow I love the take off late in the show, when the tail climbs up and the nose drops.... does the sim look anything like this when you are actually playing?
  12. TY Olgerd very nice of you to chime in before the thread is 6 pages long! all the best, uhoh7
  13. I think all would agree that we are desperate for AFMs for all AC. That would really help sales of 1.2 of course some more AFMs would make the patch incredible too.... uhoh7
  14. yes ED we love to see you in here from time time, in whatever form of english you choose. and like ruggy says.......thank you! uhoh7
  15. Thank you sir!
  16. I'm in directx mode on the ministick on the pro throttle
  17. TY very much for reply How do I declassify? all the best, uhoh7
  18. that's exactly what i do. but micro adjustments after lock a very quick there must be a way to adjust this. TY uhoh7
  19. I understand the concept of "locked" campaigns. However I am not great with those rockets in the 25t is there some way to modify that campaign so I can change the loadout? If not I suggest that an "unlocked version be available for download. all the best uhoh7
  20. Hi running a complete Ch setup I have radar slew running from my throttle mini stick. On the SU25T TV the slew is quite fast. Is there a config setting to change this speed? ty uhoh7
  21. Landing is my favorite right now. Very challenging: so much can go wrong. Incredible to watch from the external view. And now you can get of the mud if you overshoot a bit....but its hard. Like you say andrew, the wing weight is great also.
  22. I can say there is one priority for the future which trumps all: please give us an FM this great for the fighters. The FM is so far advanced from any sim..... It is worth my 35.00 just to practice landing. Incredible job, unbelievable achievment, what you did for the graphics bar in 1.0x you have done for the FM bar now. It is awesome. all other FMs in this game (excepting su-25) and all other FMs in any sim I have flown (current installs of FF3.1, Aep+PF, and 6 years of heavy simming), are a joke next to this (maddox has 4.0 on the way--- I hope it is this good). thank you uhoh7
  23. AHHHHH thank you both uhoh7
  24. Roger Quick Start has alot in it! Who wrote all that stuff? all the best, uhoh7
