So far, since I'm trying learn everything else, I have just set my throttles at auto, and left it there. However I see a "free turbine to nominal" command mapped on the CH profile I'm using, and also I'm reading about take-off power, cruise power. The manual is not totally clear to me on this point. What is "adjust free turbine to nominal"? What are the keyboard shortcuts to take-off, cruise, etc? This not the same as the throttle settings using page-up, I presume. TY sirs

I agree with you, tools tips, labels, radio are small at hi rez. Maybe there is a tweak in the config for this. -

It seems to especially happen when you leave one arc and roll into the other at speed. Once in an arc I surprised at how hard you can pull the turn. Since I really started watching my blade pitch I have this happen less--before that i did it many many times.

I think those who are working through learning BS can see the the depth and potential of the sim---It's great work, and the sim as "machine" is outstanding. At first I was a little disappointed that the map was smaller, but since we are low level in the weeds and the towns and cities are so well done, I now think the map is fine. As dollar paying end-user I have only one concern at this point. Missions. By all accounts the mission builder is adequate to produce excellent content. Nevertheless the list of single missions is still quite short, and we have just a few user created missions for download now. My suggestion to DCS and ED, and I think it will pay big dividends in the long term is to do everything possible to encourage and provide new missions and campaigns in the coming months. I suspect there are quite a few good ones sleeping on russian hard drives right now, which a translation would bring to life for western users. Ronht and a few others have already stepped up and produced some good stuff, but DCS could turbo charge mission creation in a number of ways. For example, a DCS mission contest in partnership with some periphial vendors, like natural point, and CH as well as others, with some hardware going to the top five mission creators in english with a deadline of say 60 days, could increase interest, sales and enjoyment of this great sim. More good campaigns would be worth real money IMHO---I would pay 10 bucks in a heartbeat for another extensive camapign, and I know others would also. DCS could facilitate this process by giving third party campaign creators a way to get some compensation for the time involved in quality campaign creation. Squads are forming now and are a real potential source of content. I think in the past the attitude has been (not just ED), OK here it is, and we leave it to the community to realize the potential. It's understandable, but some out of the box care, nurture and leadership in addtional content could help a great product really catch fire. Just my two cents. Now back to learning the thing...... Best to all, BTW my new vista64 machine seems to be churning right through the georgian oil war with good FPS at max rez... I'm real happy.

I bought em all and enjoyed them, but it's been a long time since a new one has come out. I don't remember the flight model being as challanging, that's for sure, but it's been 5 years since I flew either sim

well i thought it was impossible, but tonite i locked and killed an mi-24 as he headed straight for me with a vikrh. I was doing alright in the first campaign mission, then my cat jumped on the computer and it rebooted......

TY I am going to have to figure out the abris so i can read that data. AIR TO AIR!!!!!! tonite i played "road block" a great litte mission built by ronht. there are enemy mi-24s flying all over the place---I get them on my TV but cannot lock them for anything. My AI wingman loves to go after them. I know how to switch into airborne target but am confused about the whole air to air thing in BS. How do you guys take out enemy helicopters? TY to all

Hey ron, I had the chance to play this mission tonite, and really really enjoyed it. My frames bogged a bit---but I turned off civ traffic and put water to normal and it was fine. Love the way you start it with the mig under sam attack. Then there's a rocket attack on the airfield as you take off. It's just killer. Plenty of places to hide and pick stuff off. I wish I could figure out how to shoot down stuff in the air-----never can get a lock on those enemy choopers--my wingman loves to shoot at them. There's all kinds of stuff happening and the base is so close, if you get killed, you respawn and are back in action in 2 or 3min. TY sir, please make some more.

really apreciate the replies, and really great to hear the trees will be fixed. Is it possible to have AI wingie send you targets by data link on command? In other words, can you send the AI wingman out, have him mark AA targets and send you back the info in ABRIS? best to all

Is it possible to have AI wingie send you targets by data link on command? I know I know read read---but it's hard for ADD people like me to dig some of this stuff out. TY sirs

hey I'm a newbie to TIR, so don't take anything for granted. Yes, its cliped to my headset and has leds. That's why I turned off "camera leds"---per suggestions above. I am 3 ft away from a 30" screen---I don't know if that affects anything. But vector works very well, TCP (in profile) terrible. GO figure.

I hope some people chime in here. I just did the "clear tvarcheli" mission, for example. Doing it without labels I can't imagine, and even with them on, the sams are tucked away, and can only be seen from certain angles from the ridges, without getting blown up. Maybe I need to stand off more, but.....well tips are good. Seems very hard to survive untill they are gone that's for sure. My wingman wanted nothing to do with em, hehe.

Thank you very much: that was it. Vince, it doesn't like the trackclip pro setting in the profile. I turned the camera leds off to start. I get smooth tracking on vector with the TCP, but if I change to TCP tracking, it's terrible---"nodata" keeps flashing between "tracking" and movements are very jerky. works great on vector though.

Hi Guys----I'm mostly setup, but the one thing missing is head going vertically up and down, in and out. I have all other movements. TrackIR 4 proclip any suggestions, TY sirs

I been reading, but I just can't quite figure this out. I'm trying to engage some mi-24s: Is it possible to lock em up in the Shkval? I hit air to air and high aspect and get the square on them but cannot seem to lock. I know it's possible to use vikrs, but I can't seem to figure out how. ty sirs

here's what seems to be really deadly: about 250-270 slight arc to the right, then correction with roll back to left. You can be very gentle in this move and still rips the blades right off. Once in one arc or the other I find I can pull very hard, even at high speed.

hehe, well I guess that's what's nice about simulation: we can explore limits with worst case a mission restart. great tips by the way, from everyone---on the right side, makes sense. I been working a bit on my air to air with canon and have had a few......OK OK a large number....of blade mishaps. Keep the advice coming on what CAN be done to get this thing turned around and on the six of another heli. Sounds like we can pull some Gs to the left anyway.

My ground crew is all over me for destroying so many blades...... what movements are most likely to generate blades breaking?

This is true for me also, though I haven't done the fps check. It's a very obvious effect when you tab out and engage the second core (mine is dual core) Let's hope ED improves the games ability to do this without manual tweaks.
