  1. Joy btn3 + Lalt This command has been pre-programed for hover on my FFB2 in BS. How can I create unnasigned commands to joy btnX + left alt? It's not in the drop down, but obviously it's possible. This would really help with getting multi use in the FFB2. TY sirs
  2. I caught most of it, but my german is not that great. Can you guys give us mono-lingual amis the jist?
  3. can fan speed be contorled manually with ATT?
  4. I never could figure out why CH, which has great support, has not built something around the model of an ffb2, without the twist, and with more hats. such a thing, well done, would be worth some real moeny. Can you guys get the buttons on your FFB2s to do more than one thing? I'm on vista, and I just pluged it in---buttons all work and are assignable, but I'd love to get some kind of shift mode going in conjuction with my prothrottle, or somehow.
  5. For my first setup i didn't hesitate to use all my CH stuff, pedals throtle and fighterstick. With the FS, i found combined with the trim directional flight was fine, but manuvers and landing a great challange. I softened the curve, but it got harder. Then i looked at my dusty FFB2. What the heck. I kept my pedals and throttle. I swaped axis and left all else default. It's a different bird. I can strafe, land and hover with far more precision. The slightest tug or pull on the stick gets a response, but you get used to it. I use trim far less. The FFB is a bit quirky on the trim, but you soon get used to it----basically the stick goes limp when the trim is pressed, then locks to wherever you have it, so if you are pulling hard, the stick will move extra when the trim is pressed, then lock further than you expect. I wish the ffb2 had more hats and switches like the FS, but it sure makes flying the KA-50 alot of fun.
  6. GG thank you for the excellent input and advice. I used to build quite a few missions in the early days of Il2 and flanker 2. Last nite I read more in gui manual about the mission builder, and opened several campaign missions, examining triggers, zones etc. There are many features in there which are big steps forward from anything I have used. I love the FAC messages, hehe. The tutorial is quite good in the gui manual as well. Obviously a good mission will take some time to make, let alone a new campaign, so I would just encourage ED and DCS to nurture and recognise those with the time and talent to really put those tools to work. My apologies for going off a bit--I'm pent up after all these years of no new sims. Thanks for your patience. Merry christmas to all.
  7. i haven't learned how, but I recently read you can use the data link to set standoff points and targets for AI wingman in flight. One of the producers notes vids shows some of this.
  8. Well I figured out how to open the campaign missions from single mission, so it's Okay---sorry to vent my frustration. You can see the whole layout of the campaign---I wish there was a tad more variation in the front line---choke points and other configurations are common to more missions than might be the case--oh well. Perhaps in the short term we could get a translated version of the russian version campaign and missions if they vary. Google translator would be good enough. best to all, Merry Christmas
  9. I'm sure the GOC is quite realistic when you progress. When you suck however, as I do, you deal with three identical battle locations over and over an over. There is some variation in forces. Tonite I was tasked to destroy a command vehicle along the coast, as i have been several times in the past. The first attempt there were two other ka-50s along with us---that was new, i had not seen them before. It's a tricky task becasue the waypoints take you right over air defenses. The logical thing to do is skirt the radar ring offshore and shoot standing off. I am wondering if this looses points because I have altered the flight plan. The long and the short of it was several mishaps, recovered once and reflew once----trying to get this one right. My last reflight I got the command vehicle, and also the secondary, but botched my landing with an accicdental trim incident. Result I am "back a stage" at the concrete strip again with another mission I am very familiar with. I don't care to be moving vast distances, it's just the frustration factor is increased when tasks are the same and locations are the same as I flew several missions ago. It would be nice to just move ahead for some variety while I'm learning, if the campaign is not set up for a series of defensive setback missions where tasks and locations are varied. PS OK I now see I can open any campaign mission---which will let me move around and stop complaining, hehe. What is striking in viewing the campaign missions from mission selections is how many are based on confrontation in the same areas. My suggestion would be a little more variation. Even a few K here or or there. For example every "p3" mission in chapter one has an identical choke point. The "p2s" all have the same tanks guarding the exact same forward line. Other forces in these missions vary, but the identical bits stand out. Nothing's perfect I guess, and I do apreciate the great sim and the help in this forum. all the best
  10. TY for new trimming vid--like alot of guys I've been holding the button down whenever I move the stick. One thing I haven't seen in the notes---maybe I missed it, is a good explanation of using "free turbine to nominal" and how to get the various power settings e.g. cruise 1, cruise 2, take off, which are mentioned in the manual.
  11. I was a little shocked at the traverse and elevation rate of the T-72. But maybe it's accurate. Nice overview of t-72: http://www.enemyforces.net/tanks/t72.htm
  12. TY scatter. Here is the cmc I'm using---alot is remapped, but I use trim on throttle as is, and trim reset shift+trim as is. http://169thpanthers.com.au/PublicDownloads/BlackShark/Device/CHBS-RC6.rar You say less limitations with seperate devices--could you explain? TY sir
  13. "I've been hammering away at chapter one, 12 or 13 missions flown so far with one restart[NOT COUNTING RECOVERIES OR REFLIES]. I'm still pretty bad, so I have it set to recover if I am killed, and I refly if I do not acomplish stated goals. [i KNOW I WILL BE FLYING THE SAME MISSION IF I RECOVER--THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE] In all these missions [NOT COUNTING RECOVERIES] I have seen only three locations, and some variation of forces. Several missions ago, along the coast I wiped out the enemy forward line and pretty much every thing between the front and rear enemy lines. [TAKING OUT THE TARGETS I WAS ASSIGNED IN BRIEFING] Three missions later I am directed to the same location with almost identical forces. Again I take out everything.[iNCLUDING ASSIGNED TARGETS] My column can not proceed because a wreck is blocking their path however. I finish and examine the next mission. An exact repeat of the mission I flew before this one. What is especially non-immersive is to see the exact same forces in the same poisitons after they have been previously taken out. Reading the GUI, I'm guessing my score is below 51. From my perspective, to hold interest in the campaign, I expect my forces to advance if the enemy has been taken out, and to move to new locations for battle. OR ----jeez if I loose I expect my base to be overrun and my line to fall back, not to be sent off to destroy the same tanks in the same place again [OBVIOUSLY I MUST BE "GOING BACK A STAGE"] I think the guts are in place to create a campaign which is user friendly and will hold the interest of new pilots. However, the Georgian chapter one is frankly not set up in a way which draws me in[AS A NEW PILOT]---very unforgiving and highly repetitive if you fail." GG seems to think I am stating that I'm flying the same missions back to back--despite what I wrote. Both you and GG seem annoyed at honest feedback from somebody who has anticipated the product for years and bought both russian and english versions. I think you guys think we all have as many hours in this bird as you---and therefore will experience the campaign as you do.
  14. Certainly if i recover, i expect to be in the exact same mission, that's not the issue. It's being sent back to the same scenarios after I have completely quit missions--not the NEXT mssion, but within one or two flights. As far as the stated goals--I read them and proceed accordingly. Obviously there are other parameters I'm not meeting to proceed. Should the consequences of not meeting the mission parameters be a repeat of the same mission within a few flights? Or should the consequences be an advance of enemy forces followed by flights in new locations? It seems that the ME and CE would support such a campaign, it would make failure much more interesting. That's why so many people still fly F4. Obviously BS does not have a DC, but it does seem to have the potenial of fluid campaigns.
  15. I would love to get the trim to work as described in the cougar forum. I'm using Ice's cmc (available in hotas thread) because ghost's shows up with four cm divices in BS and has several periphials I don't. I just have the stick, throttle and pedals and they all show as one device, and of course I've done all sorts of remapping. What I'd like to see over at CH is some plain english instructions for those without the time to become experts in CH programming, where by such a trim function could be applied to which ever cmc we are using.
  16. I'm not getting troops at the front, but I hear some are.....they call for help etc. What do you hit for that?
  17. TY frederf so when should we hit "nominal"? in the manual I came accross this: Engines RPM indicator Takeoff mode – 97% Normal flight – 95% Cruise mode 1 – 93% Cruise mode 2 – 92% Idle – 72…78%
  18. jeez how do we turn those beepers off????? I had my g warning go off first time tonite, hehe TY for taking trouble to record that. I'm hoping somebody will give us the skinny on all this--which way is the right way, when to use auto, nominal, low, when to use throttle settings. I find the manual cryptic on the subject.
  19. 4870x2 seems to be a great card. I turn the fan up when I play to keep it cool. On the desktop I run the fan at 20% and it's quiet and cool. Though BS is supposed to be mostly processor, I read this card is very good at driving big monitors. Mine is 30". 2560x1600 with aa and af. getting 40fps average in campaign on vista64. all setting smax except mirrors, water, and med distance. Civ traffic off. In smaller missions it will run good with all that stuff on. I can't tell any water dif--looks great in normal. Dual cards don't help BS, I hear. I thought about nvidia--but all the stuff i read said there's no contest at this moment. ATI drivers are good with BS. In about 20 hours of play, I had it freeze once. newegg has the card for about 480.00
  20. ron, I think you need to make us a new campaign and sell it for 10 bucks, paypal. Give us all the seasons and show us the interesting places on the map. Either that or DCS should contract you to do so. I suspect the engine is there, but the current selection of missions is limited and Georgian Oil War is well......an even steeper curve than learning all the systems and getting the hotas going. The worst part is that you end up playing the same missions in the same locations----jeez if I loose I expect my base to be overrun and my line to fall back, not to be sent off to destroy the same tanks in the same place again. please keep your single missions coming.

If DCS wants to sell to more than complete die-hards, I hope they will put the work into campaigns and missions for users to the same degree ED has put the work in the engine. There are enough steep learning curves as it is.
  22. OK, so we know low is for dropping fast. And the switch is two position. Now nominal........we switch back to nominal, then we should have a "cruise" setting and "take off" (guys are using "take off" to get over the mountains) How do we switch from cruise to take off? and back? TY
  23. also related, does terrain appear at any zoom level---you know where you can see the houses etc? ty sirs
  24. That's exactly the question---maybe someone can cut right to it for us feeble minded, hehe if we hit free turbine to nominal, we go to 93%? Do we have to hit anything else? we hit free turbine to low to dive. then how do we get back to 90% (auto where we started) ty sirs.
  25. TY for your reply, sir nominal seems to be the default? (no--auto must be default-nominal is boost to 93%) again I'm wondering how all this relates to cruise, take-off and low---well low seem to be exactly that, regardless. I'm thinking when you switch to nominal you are boosting to 93% but cannot stay there more than six minutes. Re my hardware, I'm getting about 40fps in the early campaign missions, once in awhile it drops to 26. thats highest rez, aa and af bumped up, no mirrors, water normal and no civ trafiic. it's great really. Iheard a second card won't get used by BS, so I went for powerfull single card. I turn up fan to 80% when I play--it stays cool. turn down to 25% on desktop, it's quiet. I stayed 2 core, beacause again, I heard 4 core no benifit in BS, even with affinty. Running stock clock speed right now. There must be some lights which come on with these settings?
