Thank you, that is what I thought. :smilewink:

Eduardo, Think you could do me a favor and see if you can get this mod to work? It is from 2016 and I thought I read somewhere that people making mods had to recompile them with a newer version of some program?? EDM files or something ? Anyhow, here are the links. One is the original and one is with the sound fixed. Thanks, DB https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1824104/ https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1827354/

I was going to try out the Bismarck ship mod and I cannot get it to work. Could someone test this and see if it is broke for them too? https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1824104/ https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1827354/ Thanks, DB

Good to know. I don't think I did anything different as usual but I will pay attention in the future to see what I did/do to cause that. It seemed like it happened after Windows 10 updates and/or Nvidia driver update. I always turn on both monitors but in the past I was using Display Fusion but since the Windows update to v1903 it caused another issue with DCS that was solved by exiting that program. So without that running, I may have not had that advantage as before. But now I have to see who/what needs to update and make Display Fusion work again. Thanks, DB

Perfect. That fixed it. Thanks for the quick response. :) I wonder if it has to do with a 2 monitor setup although this is the first time it did that. I was having a possibly related issue with my multi-monitor manager where DCS would hang permanently at the splash screen if FULL SCREEN had a checkmark in the box. DB

More info on utility not running A couple of added notes. When the DCS Updater GUI Utility doesn't work, if I hover over the icon on the task bar it looks like this: (see attachment). And if I run in SAFE MODE the program does not work either. Another note is that when I try to run as admin, the box asking to verify is yellow as opposed to blue with working programs when asked to run as admin. That may be because it is an "Publisher:Unknown" and you didn't pay the big bucks to MS to remove that. :P Anyway, I hope that helps you fix it. DB

DCS World Dedicated Server

How exactly do you do that with the DCS Update Utility? I can't test it at the moment as the DCS Update Utility seems to have been broken by a Windows update. Thanks -
Can I get a copy of that script please?

Today I tried to run the DCS Updater Utility and it won't open. I think Microsoft hosed something. I re-installed the same latest version I already was running but no change.:( And I had just updated the Nvidia driver and 3 Microsoft updates. edit: Maybe this has something to do with it?? https://www.forbes.com/sites/daveywinder/2019/08/17/microsoft-confirms-update-warning-for-windows-10-windows-81-and-windows-7-users/

Perfect. Thank you for the help and info. DB

Just having dogfights with some of my team players and want to enforce guns only and no missiles. I guess if everybody just follows the rules it wouldn't be a problem but sometimes people get silly and do silly stuff. This would keep everyone from being able to load up other weapons, mainly AA missiles. Thanks
-
Can you set a mission with the FA-18C to guns only for multiplayer? If so, how? Thanks
-
I guess that is what happens when you leave the original title and then change your question. :P I was starting to make a dogfight mission with 3 players and was trying to figure out a way to have 3 factions instead of 2. While I was typing the question I thought I could just use 3 groups and that would be close enough for now with the group that was on the red team would just have to shoot their friend. I already figured out the answer to my original title by using 3 groups and when anybody leaves the preferred area of engagement (the trigger zone), a message would identify who left the area and also when they re-entered the area. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for the info. Map Only is what I wanted but didn't have enough coffee when I was working on it. I set it to My A/C but without testing I wasn't sure if each player would only see their A/C.
-
Can the F10 map be disabled completely or just down to "My A/C"? And the reason I ask is I wanted to put some triggers in when the AC get out of the action zone in a 3 way dogfight.

I looked and couldn't find one. I will try to get a screenshot of what I am talking about. Thanks

I am not sure what you call the info screen that is in the same place as the chat window, but I am surprised nobody else has asked about it before. The problem is when it displays info on which team member makes a kill or crashes etc, the text looks too big and the sentences are incomplete. Is there a setting in a lua file to change the font size and color of the text? If you are not aware of the info box just press the LEFT-TAB key to turn it on/off. Thanks, DB

Followup: I looked but could not find where he got the file (he thought it was user files in downloads) so I searched the forum and found it. I tried to download the file to verify it was the same one but that file is no longer available. But while further reading the thread people were saying it no longer worked anyhow. So I read the rest of the thread and found a few more to try that go into the saved games folder too. link:https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=212409

It is the FA-18C_Clear_HUD_Glass mod. It is just a couple of texture files that is supposed to clear up the view through the hud. I was worried about the Integrity Check on multiplayer etc... DB

Question on zipped folder in DCS for mods
davebert replied to davebert's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thanks razo+r. I guess I was thinking correct about it. So I guess DCS unzips the folder to use the files as necessary. DB -
I have a question about a zipped final destination folder in DCS. A friend wanted me to help him install a mod for the FA-18C HUD. I followed the installation path all the way to the files I wanted to replace, but they were in a zipped folder on the main game folder. I stopped and thought about it and figured I could unzip the folder and install the 2 modded files and either rename the old ones or remove them from the folder before zipping it back up. But I figured something could go wrong like not using the correct zip type or fail an integrity check etc. Does DCS use zipped folders in real time and unzip them when the game is first started?? Thanks, DB edit: Here is the path for the textures recommended by the mod maker to remove old files(2) and install the 2 new ones. DCS World/Mods/Aircraft/FA-18C/Cockpit/Textures/FA-18C-CPT-TEXTURES/ The FA-18C-CPT-TEXTURES is the zipped file at the end of the path where the mod is to be installed.

Ok, Thanks. I will post on the mods thread. DB
