  1. Hawg, If you do not have a Liveries folder in your saved games folder, then create one with the following folders inside if it like so: Liveries\uh-1h\"name of mod"\"mod files" Or let me know the name of the mod and I will download it and create you the correct path. DB
  2. Thanks for the reply Eduardo. I kind of figured the skins would be safe in the Liveries folder in Saved Games but I just started with OVGME and wanted to do get my feet wet without making a mess so I started with the skins. If a skin in the future is the source of a problem I can deactivate the whole folder for a test with OVGME. But I see your point and I appreciate the reply. Thanks again, DB
  3. Some skins won't work properly. I don't know if this is an OVGME question or not but I have used OVGME to install some skins and after sorting out the path by making some extra folders I got them working. So I have 3 skins working from my Saved Games\dcs.OpenBeta\Liveries\FA-18C_hornet folder where it added the folder that contained the description file and dds files. Thinking I had the path sorted out and that is would make things easier, I have had no luck adding any more skins to that folder. The skin name shows up in the livery list in the game but when selected only the Bort numbers change but the paint and textures do not change at all. Can all skins be added to the Saved Games folder or do some have to be installed in the main dcs folder? Thanks edit: I figured it out. I went back to go try again and started the game again and then the other skins worked. So I guess the whole game has to be restarted for new OVGME mods to work, not just exiting the mission, but a whole restart of the game.
  4. I am sure it has been asked before (and I read this entire thread), but I need help installing some skins. I have successfully installed 3 skins in my "saved games\Liveries\FA-18C_hornet" folder, but since then I cannot get any others to work installed to the same folder. I can get them to show in the list and when I click to change the skin it will not work. I see the Bort number changed or added to the default skin and that is about it. The skins I try to add to the Liveries folder are in the correct format with the description file and the .dds files. I did read on some of the skins where I downloaded them that you must use WinRar v5 or above (I am using 7-zip) but the problem is the same on the regular zipped files I have tried too. I looked at the lua files in NP++ but they seem similar to the ones that do work. What am I missing?? :helpsmilie: Thanks, DB edit: I figured it out. I went back to go try again and started the game again and then the other skins worked. So I guess the whole game has to be restarted for new OVGME mods to work, not just exiting the mission, but a whole restart of the game.
  5. Thanks Joey. I was thinking that may be the case. Now I just have to hunt down the correct lua file to find the names (when necessary). edit: I just went back and traced it down for my answer and I found it. I missed it by one click before. :music_whistling:
  6. Question on aircraft names When I add a skin to my Saved Games Liveries, I wonder how and why the aircraft's folder is not named the same as in the DCS Open Beta Main folder. Could somebody explain why it is different and how do I find a list of the "different" names of aircraft for use in the Saved Games Folder? Example below: In the Main Game Directory I find the FA-18C spelled different in two directories and the Liveries folder is empty. FA-18C (Core Mods-aircraft) f_a-18c (Bazar-Liveries) Empty (DCS World Open Beta-Liveries) And in my Saved Games Folder when adding a skin for the FA-18C I have to use the name below: FA-18C_Hornet (Saved Games-Liveries) Just curious as to why and where I can come up with a list of the names of aircraft for the Saved Games Directory as they are different. Thanks
  7. Does the DCS Updater GUI Utility also work with the DCS beta dedicated server? Thanks
  8. Ahhh, I see. Ok, thanks for the info. :) I likely didn't realize that as I am just doing some simple skin mods in the beta version in the saved games folder. When I checked the backups folder it was empty whether the mod was enabled and disabled.
  9. Eduardo, How do you implement the Custom Backup Folder? I have added one to each build but am not sure if we just manually add the mods to the folder for safe keeping, or there is a button to click that does it automatically? Thanks
  10. Thanks Eduardo, makes perfect sense. I only had a few mods in the saved games folder and don't know if I even have any in the games folder...yet. So it was a good time for me to get OVGME set up so I will avoid problems with mods in the future. I appreciate the help. :) Thanks
  11. Thanks Eduardo. I have just installed OVGME yesterday so I have a question. I am sending the Mod Folder to the Saved Games Folder. But I see you have "00_Mods is where I've the Mods that are applied to DCS program Folder" above. Does that mean I need to have 2 profiles in OVGME? And add another Mods Folder in the game folder? Thanks
  12. Great write up. Is it a good place to put the _OVGME MODS folder in the Saved Games Folder? Seems like a safe place to me. Thanks
  13. Cool, thanks!
  14. I would like to modify a building by adding a sign to it EG: add the sign Star Bucks to an existing building. How do you do that? I am guessing you find a suitable building and modify it's texture map?? And what if I just wanted to make a sign? Same thing? Thanks
  15. Yes, I use it. Works great.
  16. Not what you asked for buy have you seen this? https://github.com/Santi871/DCSWaypointEditor/releases/tag/v0.9.6b1
  17. Tacview Can/should we run Tacview on the server beta or just run it on the pc we are flying from?? Thanks edit: Just found this: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=183914 Is all this info still valid and running on the server is best with individual outputs per player?
  18. Old Pop, Let me know where you are stuck and I will help you. I struggled with it at first but I figured it out. :smilewink:
  19. Glad to hear you got it sorted and thanks for reporting back with your results. And being confused makes you smarter. :D :joystick:
  20. Yeah, I was thinking there may have been a delay before the actual spawning too, but it was working. I will strive to do it correct now, and in the future. Thanks for clearing this up for us.
  21. 100% sure it works on local and multiplayer and I run it on the DCS Beta Server so my flying friends see the skins too. But like I said, I am pretty new to this and want to do it syntactically correct so I am all ears on learning to do it right. :) Thanks
  22. My script as a test works fine even in multiplayer. But I want it to be syntactically correct. But this works: local yak=RAT:New("RAT_YAK") -- Spawn five planes yak:Spawn(5) local c130=RAT:New("RAT_C130") c130:Spawn(5) local b727=RAT:New("RAT_B727") b727:Spawn(10) local b727skins=({"AEROFLOT", "Air France", "Alaska", "Alitalia", "American Airlines", "Clean", "Delta Airlines", "Delta Airlines OLD", "FedEx", "Hapag Lloyd", "Lufthansa", "Lufthansa Oberhausen Old", "Northwest", "Pan Am", "Singapore Airlines", "Southwest", "UNITED", "UNITED Old", "ZERO G"}) b727:Livery(b727skins) Should it be like this? local b727skins=({"AEROFLOT", "Air France", "Alaska", "Alitalia", "American Airlines", "Clean", "Delta Airlines", "Delta Airlines OLD", "FedEx", "Hapag Lloyd", "Lufthansa", "Lufthansa Oberhausen Old", "Northwest", "Pan Am", "Singapore Airlines", "Southwest", "UNITED", "UNITED Old", "ZERO G"}) b727:Livery(b727skins) local yak=RAT:New("RAT_YAK") -- Spawn five planes yak:Spawn(5) local c130=RAT:New("RAT_C130") c130:Spawn(5) local b727=RAT:New("RAT_B727") b727:Spawn(10) Thanks
  23. Ahhh, ok. I see. Apparently there are 2 ways of doing that or I have an extra set of parenthesis. :D. Mine works but I learned something so all is good. I may try removing my parenthesis and see if it still works. I was having a few issues when learning how to get the liveries working when I started a few weeks ago. But mine works and I have the same as his but I am using the 727 skins b727:Livery(b727skins). Thanks
