Now we can choose VR/monitor from the launch screen, it would be nice if DCS loaded a VR/Monitor settings profile. I know we can choose a preset from the launcher, but it would be better if this just happened automatically. Also, a sound option would be useful, as my default is set to my HMD, which I manually have to change to my other sound card when choosing monitor.

Thanks all. I’m not saying this is the reason my DCS is running smoother than it ever has done, but doing this for MSFS has resulted in the same result there too.
-
Will this get overridden with today’s update?
-
Ha, excellent. Thanks!

Mine arrived today. Got it mounted and had a bit of a play with a few modules (and a bit on MSFS) and so far so good. I will definitely need to spend a bit of time fine tuning, but the presets aren’t bad. Some of the roll axis are super light which doesn’t feel right, but the pitch pressure building with speed is very cool. F16 is impressive too. I’m trying to get my head round whether I need to be getting rid of my curves in axis tuning. If DCS is able to replicate the actual stick feel, then adding curves is going to mess things up, right?

Yeah I know. Don’t ask me why but that’s how it seems to work! Had it for about 5 years now and use it for DCS, MSFS and iRacing and have never had a problem with it.

I’ve got one of these and it seems fine with my G1, although I always seem to have to turn off motion compensation for it to work. It’s definitely doing something because with it on the view gets thrown all over the place.

He mentioned he did actually set the spring centre force to zero. I'm sure it'll get fixed at some point.

Nice! Where did you order from? I bought from Abruzzi, so assume they’ll be receiving a bulk order to pass on to customers pretty soon.

Thanks for the report! All sound very promising. With your grip attached directly to the base, can it be twisted at all? From memory, for my Virpil base, I had to loosen a couple of screws to do so.

Just noticed the UK supplier has changed the date from late August: **PRE-ORDER THE ALL NEW EXCITING MOZA AB9 BASE – DUE TO ARRIVE 2nd WEEK IN SEPTEMBER**

Being able to replicate the F16 force sensing stick is pretty cool. Bit of a bonus.

Making amazing progress. Better than I expected!

New SimHaptic for bass shakers works great!
pierscockey replied to Peedee's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That sounds perfect, thanks! Regarding the trial, I’m really interested but before taking the plunge there’s a couple of things I need to iron out. For example, I’ve got a Moza FFB base arriving later this month and I understand it currently stops SSA from working. I’m hoping the Moza devs will sort that soon. If it does then I may as well give the trial a go then. I’ve also got a Simxperience Gseat (running Simcommander) and NLR Motion system, all which currently work together, so slightly nervous to break something unintentionally. Does anyone know if I keep a backup of my export file, can I just replace it if things go bad? -

Can I ask how G-force is felt? With SSA I have set it to start vibrating at 4G and increases with intensity as it builds, which I find really useful for BFM. I don't find it necessary (and quite annoying!) to feel G below that threshold. This was set in G-Feeling Threshold Deadzone in SSA special options. -
I've just pre-ordered in the UK. Moza make quality products, so I don't feel there's much risk on that part. Counting on there being a big backlog of orders when the proper reviews do start dropping (Spudknocker has probably done me a favour order number-wise, despite being a simple clamp issue!), and even if there turns out to be issues, I very much doubt the problem would be with hardware but software, which can be sorted out in time. Regardless, it's going to be better than my non-FFB base. Been on the fence for some time building a Rhino, but I've never committed due to time (and laziness!). This is the perfect option for me.

Just come across this topic so going to give this a go. If of interest, it looks like 3.7.10 was released today.

After update DCS 2.8.6.41363 Open Beta, DCS not launch
pierscockey replied to gonvise's topic in General Bugs
Exact same problem for me since updating today. DCS appears in background processes for about 5s, then disappears. It should then appear under running apps, but it never does. No logs as DCS won’t load to create one. -
True However, I only want realism when it suits me!

I’d love to see an engineer’s report on state of jet once landed, with perhaps a time frame of how long it will be out of service until its next sortie. Undercarriage damaged from landing too hard. Over stressed airframe from using paddle switch (F/A 18 etc). Battle damage assessment. Things like that. It would add a bit more realism and give some satisfaction when handing a jet over unscathed. It might also incentivise people to improve some of the basics like landing properly.

I’m also seeing this.

There’s a couple of bugs I’ve come across since 2.8 has been released. 1. When the sun is low on the horizon, it’s like a blinding white torch is being shone through the canopy. This is also when the sun is obscured by mountains etc. I have a few screen shots I can post later. 2. The AOA appears to be out by about +10.

Does this now mean early '23 confirmed, plus an updated F5?

How to set up toggle switches (a tutorial)
pierscockey replied to Spy Guy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Does any part of the code refer to the length of time the physical button input has to last for before triggering the action? Trying to stop multiple button presses on the F18 UFC. If I could some how lengthen the time required I think it would stop it happening. -
You use the trim to move the v/v into the E bracket. Once centred, use throttle to control where the V/V goes. Shouldn’t really be using the stick’s pitch control when on an approach. It’s kind of opposite to how the F16 works, where for that you use the stick/trim to move the E bracket as opposed the V/V.
