Most probably yes, but the the Virpil base also cost nearly two times the price of the TM. The TM base seems precise enough when new, now if it keeps that degree of precision through time and wear, I can't tell... It's good to know there good options available to keep Cougars in shape. I opted for a center fix to the floor with a 20cm extension, on top of a 22cm pedestal, together with my old Simped rudders which are perfect for center sticks as they have the pedals very wide apart allowing for free side stick movement. TQS and rudders connect to my old Cougar stick base as interface for usb. Every axis/button working analog, including microstick. For aircrafts with afterburner I use Target just to program the AB detent, using a button as finger lift, because I'm not using the TQS mechanic detents for the time being (they are a bit to noisy for night simming). I just hope this setup lasts cause it's perfect for me. I fly a lot of WWII and early jets, so the stick to the floor adds a totally new feel.

Hi all. If any of you have the original Hotas Cougar and wish to get it working on a modern Windows, lets say 10 or 11, here is my suggestion: Get yourself a Thrustmaster Magnetic Base which has a very decent precison, your original Cougar base gimbals should be pretty weared out anyway. Hopefully your Cougar grip should be fine, apart from some pilled off paint, and it will work flawlessly on the new magnetic base. Your original Cougar base will be your interface for the throttle and pedals (in case you have some old gameport setup). 64bit Cougar drivers are still available and will get your old stick back to business on Windows 10 or 11. In the Hotas Cougar Control Panel assign the Microstick axxis to your X and Y axxis (remember Windows will only see 8 axxis, and a complete Cougar setup with rudders and toe brakes will have 10). This way you will have a perfectly working analogue Microstick. Your X and Y stick axxis will come from your new magnetic base, which is a new device on its own. You will now see two devices on you windows game controllers window - one will be the Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar, and the other a Joystick - HOTAS Warthog as this is the name provided by the new magnetic base. Assign your all your buttons and axxis as you would normally ingame, and you are good to go. Alternatively, if you want to do more fancy stuff, you can use the Foxy or Target software, but you don't need it if you want to do a simple one button to one function assignement. Nevertheless, I personaly use the Target Script Editor which is much more powerfull and easier to use, once you understand the programming sintax. Anyway, this is my suggestion to get your Cougar vintage gear working 100% on a modern system, no compromises. Of course, the magnetic base costs about 130€/160$, but you can't compare this investment with buying an actual same quality Hotas system, specially if your Cougar is still in good working condition. (Not sure if anyone already suggested this, it's a long thread, anyway, this is tested and working in DCS, Windows 11) Cheers!

Wow, there it is... I looked into CoreMods but never thought it would be in ChinaAssetPack... Thanks a lot!

Hi all. Anyone has a hint on how to load the J-11A with its own textures on Model Viewer? I can't find the .edm file... is it because I don't have FC3? But I do have the Su-27 though... Thanks .
-
Because I dont have FC3, I only get Su-27 options with the default (russian) plus chinese cockpit, but no J-11A options... The only way I got it to work was by using OvGME to overwrite the J-11A default cockpit description.lua with the Su-27 default one (russian), on the main install folder. It's strange I can't even load the J-11A skins on the Model Viewer, because the Su-27 3D model doesn't accept them, and I don't see a J-11A 3D model anywhere else (changing the name of the su-27 edm file to J-11A doesn't do the trick either). I can't even find the default J-11A skins zip... Anyway, I got what i wanted, just not sure if I'm able to use the cockpit online on a "pure" install check server, that's the only thing I didn't try so far... Anyway thanks for your help. (Unless it's possible to get the cockpit textures to load by adding their path to a livery description.lua, but I doubt...)
-
Thanks for the answers. I downloaded one of the translated cockpits already, the problem is there is no way to select it, because FC3 doesn't appear on my special options. To added it as a livery... I might try it, but I suspect it won't work, because the cockpit textures are loaded from a different folder... I can try adding the cockpit textures to a livery description.lua and see what happens... Thanks for the tip.

Hi all. I own a few standalone FC3 aircraft, including the Su-27, but I don't have FC3. From my research I understand there are a few incompatibilities between FC3 and the same standalone modules. I'm happy to have the standalone modules, but now I wish to install russian cockpit textures on the J-11A. I know I can install it to the main DCS folder, using a mod enabler like ovgme, by overwriting the default J-11A files, but I believe I won't be able to use it on "pure" online servers... Anyone knows how to do it using the current "saved games" folder installation? I didn't get it to work this way... any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I personally use OvGME to manipulate files either on Saved Games or DCS main folder. I usually disable the main DCS ones before a game update, that is all, I never had any issue in multiplayer but maybe because the servers I fly in don't do this kind of integrity check... Anyway, thanks for the remark, users can choose what suits them better.

I'm a bit late on the Mirage 2000C, just bought the module and I noticed there is no theme song (it uses the default)... so I made one! You can download it here. Just unzip it and install it at your main DCS installation (World, or Open Beta, but not at the saved games folder) keeping the same file structure, or alternatively use OvGME. Merry Christmas!!

Are you serious? Sure it looks better... Don't remember how it was in 2.5, but at least the foam looks much better, I bet the carrier wake must have looked better too... I tried with different weather conditions, graphics maxed out, never got it to look like this... an older water version
-
Hello all. I tried everything I could to get a water displacement foam like we see in these images, but nothing close... were they maybe edited? I don't think so... So if anyone knows how to do it, please share. Thanks!!

During a cold start, although pointing to MAX, the radios mater volume seems to be down to zero. No squelch sounds or ATC audio answers can be heard if kept like that. We must rotate the master volume for it to sync and sounds to be heard. After that radios audio seems to be fine. This doesn't occur on a hot start, where the master volume seems to be perfectly synced and radio audio can be heard as normal.

Anybody knows where can I find this "US Navy Lemoore Rescue Green" skin? It seems it's not available anywhere... Thanks!!
-
So it means there is no cure for this?
-
Yes I could, but only some few ships have options to setup frequency and transmissions in the advanced waypoint settings, like the carriers and this offshore supply ship IEVOLI IVORY for example, and even those, they only allow you to setup a TACAN which won't work for the Huey... to setup an NDB or to broadcast a AM or FM radio signal the option I see working is by adding an amphibious vehicle to the ship. I even tried with Moose, but it works the same as using triggers in the ME - the transmitted signal stays stationary at the place the ship spawned...

Hi everyone. Does anyone happen to face some suttering when an F-14B comes close to you in flight and the hi resolution textures are loaded? It doesn't seem to be a very serious issue in single player, but in multiplayer, when flying with your squad mates, it becomes almost unbearable, like some kind of slide show... Has anyone face the same before? I need to understand why this happens and how to solve this annoying issue. Thanks in advance.

MOOSE - Mission Object Oriented Scripting Framework

Is it possible to get add a beacon (or a continuous radio transmission) to a boat? I tried Core.Beacon and Core.Radio but they don't seem to work (or most likely I didn't set them properly)... Any ideas on how to implement this? Thank you. -
Best method so far is a workaround with no triggers involved whatsoever, but indeed it works: we just place a vehicle on the boat - now it has to be an amphibious otherwise it can't be placed on the boat, an AAV-7 will do nicely - then we just make him perform a command via the advanced waypoint actions by setting the frequency (0.190 MHz is the default Huey freq on spawning, so it will do perfectly), the we can set a sound (ideally a Morse code) if we want, what is important is to check the loop box, so it keeps transmitting continuously. When we jump into the Huey, we just turn on ADF, et voilà, the ADF needle pointing to the ship. Now how will it look like having an AAV-7 onboard? It won't, because there is no collision model, so we can easily find a spot where the tank falls inside the boat model and gets completely invisible (works well around the front chimney area). And that's it.

Is there a way to navigate on the Huey to and from a destroyer with landing platform? I mean, apart from visualy... Thank you.

If you guys need the psd for the helmet decal, just create one, it's very simple... 1) open GIMP or any other software of your choice, create a transparent 512x512 texture 2) save the jpg file embedded in the first post of this thread, the black background with the texture map reticule 3) resize it to 512x512 and past it on the file you created on 1) as a layer 4) create your logo on another layer, and position/resize it accordingly to the map layer 5) off all layers except the one with your logo, everything around should be transparent 6) export the file to DDS, in BC3/DTX5 format, no mipmaps, and name it My_Helmet_Decal.dds 7) add the below line to the description.lua file of the skin where you want to use your helmet logo on, above the pilot helmet roughmet line {"pilot_AV8B_helmet", DECAL ,"My_Helmet_Decal",false}; 8) Install it at your saved games folder as you normaly would, and that 's it. Enjoy your new custom helmet!!

Guys, the link for the PSD file is not working anymore... Can anybody tell me the size in pixels of the PSD image. With that and the posted picture I will solve the problem. (Nevermind, I checked the default decal, it's 512x512)

I'm very aware of the man hours it takes to put a product like this on the market for our pleasure. Of course, there will always be bugs and glitches to complain about, but that's the way it is, and I believe the manufacturer has been addressing them. I heard the the engine sound was very bad initially, well it sounds very good to me now, and I love this plane! Cheers to the VTOL!!

I'm new to the Harrier, just bought the module and I noticed there is no theme song (it uses the default)... so I made one! I figured out a way to mix the intro into the loop and it works quite well, because the sound engine stiches the loop perfectly. You can download it here. Just unzip it and install it at your main DCS installation (World, or Open Beta, but not at the saved games folder) keeping the same file structure, or alternatively use OvGME. Enjoy!!
