  1. More than happy to upgrade motherboard as well. Currently I have an AM3 slot/chip - so think the new CPUs are AM4? Was looking at the Asus Rog B550 Gaming - though not sure about the -I vs -F?
  2. After some help/advice if possible. Just getting back into DCS after a few years away. Have always built my own PCs - prefer it that way as when it goes wrong it is easier to fix. My current setup is an AMD Athlon Phenom II 1100T, coupled with a GTX770 GPU, 16GB Ram - which was fine a few years ago. I normally plump for AMD due to the price difference between them and Intel - so have been looking at the latest AMD CPUs - are these better/worse than the current Intels? I have lost touch with recent hardware developments - but after some guidance for a decent modern gaming PC that won't break the bank.
  3. Many thanks Michelange. Will give it a go at the weekend. Any ideas on the best resolution for the png file?
  4. How do I add pilot photos/squadron emblems or introduce new squadrons into the game? I am looking to make available UK Army Air Corps Squadrons as selectable squadrons for Great Britain, inclusive of emblems, as I feel the RAF options that are available are not indicative of an attack helo squadron.
  5. Aha, I stand corrected BigfootMSR! Admittedly I screwed my first run at installing everything after a computer rebuild - and thought I could bring 1.0.2 into DCSWorld by installing the 1.2.0.0 patch...:music_whistling: ....'nuff said - it didn't work. I then READ the instructions and figured I had to BUY the upgrade, install it, then install DCSW then run the 1.2.0 patch to integrate, hence I have both a standalone and an integrated version. If I were to uninstall the standalone I am now assuming it won't effect the DCSW install? Another question, probably not for this thread but hope you can help or point me in the right direction... How do I add pilot photos/squadron emblems or introduce new squadrons into the game. I am looking to make available UK Army Air Corps Squadrons as selectable squadrons, inclusive of emblems, as I feel the RAF options that are available are not indicative of an attack helo squadron. Additionally I will be attempting to produce a skin in the guise of the new AAC Aircraft Camo Pattern. May take me a while due to work commitments but hope to get there eventually...
  6. Basically if you only have BS 1(1.01/1.02) you're done - it will not integrate with DCS World - and will remain a stand alone product outside of World. As per BigfootMSRs reply - I would thoroughly recommend paying the extra bucks and buying the upgrade. I cannot put my finger on it - but it just seems better. Process would be: Install 1.02. Purchase and download Upgrade (gives you another keycode). Install - this then gives you a standalone BS2 installation. Download the BS2 1.2.0.0 patch - which will integrate BS2 with DCS World. Enjoy! Also download BigfootMSRs training missions - unless of course you are fully up and running in terms of BS flight...?! They are very good, easy to understand tutorials for basic/advanced aircraft training. Hope that helps...
  7. I don't think so. Admittedly I haven't 'unbound' the arrow keys, but my zoom is on my X52pro left hand control slider - so I cannot think I would have inadvertantly hit the arrow key. Like I said, when I replayed the track there was no cyclic input, unless they are not shown in track replay?
  8. Hi BigfootMSR. Had an odd one the other day when i was running through the Wingman Datalink tutorial.... I had stabilised into a hover, selected auto-hover, and was running through the various datalink scenarios. I had zoomed in, but in the corner of my monitor was a small view through a window. Not sure what switch selections I had made, but suddenly I noticed movement through the window. When I zoomed out the aircraft was in a roll to the right, ending up inverted and non-recoverable :joystick: - with obvious consequences..... I replayed the track but couldn't see any inadvertant cyclic inputs in the cockpit, then also went 'outside' in case an over eager wingman had made contact - which he hadn't. Any ideas?
  9. Well, you would think, but if I revert to 256 it reverts to non-clickable mode, so definately seems related?
  10. Anyone experienced this? Originally I had my cockpit resolution in DCS BS2 (and 1.02 for that matter) set to 256, to reduce the load time of a mission. When I entered the cockpit I found none of the selectable/clickable switches and dials worked. If I Alt-Tabbed out, then back in, all worked as advertised. When I was playing with settings the other day, I upped the cockpit textures to 1024, and eventually back to 512. When I entered the cockpit now, all worked from the offset. So, is there an issue with the 256 res cockpit?
  11. Not sure if this will help, or is too late, but is something I experienced the other day. I have KA50 BS2 set up on my desktop. I have my desktop set for remote access from my laptop. The other day, I remotely accessed my desktop to check something, then a few hours later tried to use it for a training mission in BS2 (not remotely). The frame rate was appalling, and the aircraft rotors, when viewed externally, were easily countable - I reckon a RRPM of around 3! As I had been tinkering with some various setup files I feared the worst, but before I reverted the changes I had made, did a reboot. Problem solved! So it appears accessing my desktop remotely screws the graphics frame rate, which was resolved by a reboot.
  12. Many thanks for the reply. Yep - mission screen seems odd, but if yours appears the same then I am happy that either mine ain't broke, or both of ours are and its just one of those things! :D The Alt hold seems odd, as when on baro settings it doesn't actually appear to hold IF you make an input. It does if you don't, but I have found if I set the aircraft up for S&L flight then I can achieve alt hold without the Alt Hold push button being pushed.:joystick: I have scoured the manual:book:but cannot really find any additional guidance on the subject. I guess ultimately it doesn't matter, as I can fly at a particular altitude either using RadAlt or manually, thinking RadAlt being the better option when down in the weeds in the FEBA anyway....:gun_rifle:
  13. Mission Screen - select the mission option on the right hand side in DCS world. Understand the basics of altitude hold but... If I have RadAlt selected on the RH panel, then hit Altitude hold when in straight and level flight, I get an advisory on the overhead panel, and if I make cyclic pitch input, I can change the altitude whilst holding an input, but if I stop and go 'hands free' then gradually the altitude hold brings me back to my 'held' height. If I have Baro selected, then hit altitude hold, no advisory appears, and I can easily climb/descend with cyclic inputs, and the autopilot doesn't return me to my height when I release the cyclic.
  14. Hi Marcos, glad to hear you are getting into it.... I am still plugging through BigfootMSRs training missions, often repeating them so things start to become second nature, whilst flying the odd combat mission, but then scuttling back to do more training!!! Still trying to get the hang of the FFARs, and to fully undertsand how altitude hold works. :joystick: Understand the concept, but not how it is applied. Have you tried reducing the size of your lasing window, as that may help with the overshooting issue? Can you also do me a favour, and look at your mission screen in World, and let me know if you have 6 yellow crosses in top right and bottom left of the screen, and you have faint text on the main screen that runs behind the mission pane. I am sure at one point I had a proper graphic...?
  15. Ahhhh crap! Again that comes down to me looking for similarity!!! Could of sworn there was tabs though! Must have had a senior moment!!! Just seems odd though that you have to 'trawl' for missions within the main program. How are you getting on now Marcos - from one of your last posts I guess you are now starting to enjoy rotary wing...?
  16. Anyone had this issue before? I fire up DCSW 1.20, with A10c, BS2 and SU25 modules installed, and if I select Missions from the right hand side all I see is the Mission Description box and the pane on the right hand side showing the selected drive and any available missions. I am fairly certain there used to be a set of tabs so you could select the aircraft you wished to fly? Additionally the background picture has all but disappeared, and there seems to be some code running down the page in quite a faint font. Any ideas on a fix - without re-installing. Sure it will be something to do with a lua file - but which one???:helpsmilie:
  17. Cheers Chaps, However, think I'll go with the easiest option, and just remap them... Ta!
  18. Many thanks BigfootMSR. Now, does anyone know how to port over a saved controls 'lua' file without it corrupting from DCS2 to DCS2 in World???
  19. BigfootMSR - no problems. Unfortunately I am one of those people that will spend ages trying to get things to work in the standalone, despite them being available and working fine in DCSW...!!! Guess that comes from my old experiences with PC games where ages were spent getting games/sims up and running satisfactorily! One thing that I think is missing though, and again apologies for expecting too much, is a set of briefing notes in a similar vein to How to take off and blow up stuff. I found it extremely handy to pause, read, unpause and operate the various systems. I have found that on a few occasions I have missed the voiceover instructions as the mission progresses onwards, or would like to be able to repeat an exercise during the same mission, but have nothing to refer to. Marcos, glad you're starting to get to grips with things. What version are you flying? I found BS2 far superior than 1.02, and the graphic improvements, along with a better FPS (on my system anyway) also aid in not 'chasing the stick'.
  20. Hi BigFootMSR. Many thanks for your work - much appreciated. Between your tutorials (and PeterPs integration) and 'How to take off and blow up stuff' (http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2626185/) my 'wazzing and zooming':pilotfly: is coming on in leaps and bounds - more bounds than leaps though when I hit the hard stuff!!! Quick question #1: Do your tutorials work in standalone BS2, as intimated by PeterPs install folder text file? I have tried, but cannot get any text/instructions and voiceovers to work? Quick question #2: MSR = Mars Sample Return???
  21. Hi Guys, Just re-installed Black Shark after a computer rebuild. Having followed the patches as they were released, I am now back to square one. Question, can I patch up to 1.02 from 1.00 or do I need to install the incremental patches as well? Apologies if this has been asked before. Cheers Leg2ion
